If you want to lose weight then you have to eat less calories, have a healthy diet, and do cardio/exercise... if you want to keep the weight off, then you have to stick to your new, healthy diet forever.
That's partially true, mecca, but yet quality of calories matters most, not just reduction in total calories. As Dr. Lustig proves, a calorie is not just a calorie and it's also the quality of the food we eat not just the amount. But I'm sure you know that.

Yeah, that's why I said you also need a healthy diet. You have to pick your calories wisely.

I remembered reading/ hearing about differences between fructose and sucrose for people especially with metabolism issues.
Introductory science article: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sucrose-glucose-fructose#what-are-they?
According to above article fructose is apparently the worst sugar for diabetics etc.

This article disagrees that fructose is worse than other sugars, but look at the following list: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/20-foods-with-high-fructose-corn-syrup#section3

I find it amazing that savoury products listed have sugar added!

Even fruits and vegetables should be monitored more closely. https://www.mayoclinic.org/fructose-intolerance/expert-answers/faq-20058097

That's quite interesting! I would've thought bananas would be higher in fructose. Bananas are almost demonized in low carb/low sugar communities. I have them about once every two weeks.

"People who have fructose intolerance should limit high-fructose foods, such as juices, apples, grapes, watermelon, asparagus, peas and zucchini. Some lower fructose foods — such as bananas, blueberries, strawberries, carrots, avocados, green beans and lettuce — may be tolerated in limited quantities with meals." (from https://www.mayoclinic.org/fructose-intolerance/expert-answers/faq-20058097)

I eat an apple almost every day and usually blueberries, too. Also include asparagus and zucchini regularly. Thanks for sharing! :)

News article 11 March 2019 https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324673.php

1tsp = 4 grams.
Average man should have no more than 9 teaspoons of sugar.
Average woman should have no more than 6 teaspoons.

https://www.businessinsider.com.au/sweetest-sodas-teas-coffees-energy-drinks-us-2017-7?r=US&IR=T

Therefore 1 standard can of Coca Cola is the recommended daily sugar limit for a man.
In your first article GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe by the FDA) substances are mentioned, but I wouldn't personally use any of them except maybe for stevia since it is plant based. Yet stevia is almost sickeningly sweet. The other ones mentioned like Acesulfame K or Splenda, etc., usually lead to headaches and gastrointestinal distress. I'm also watching that Depression, Anxiety and Dementia docuseries by Jonathan Otto and gastrointestinal distress will lead to depression, anxiety, dementia and guess what feeds the bad bacteria in your GI tract? Sugar! It all connects. :)
