Service unto the Lord

I recently received a post from one of our regular members saying, "The only job we have of God is to repent."". The Lord has more than just repentance in our calling and election of His body, (The Church). There is a battle within the born again believer, for God gave us a new man, but He never changed the old man, and they are in conflict with one another (Galatians Chapter 5). Paul talks about this struggle and the victory in (Romans 7:13-25; 8:1-39). The purpose of God's calling and election is to conform us to the image of Christ. Paul points out, "and he BESSECHS us that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable SERVICE" (Rom. 12:1-2), and doing service unto the Lord and not unto men. (Eph. 6:7-9).
The rewards for these services are crowns. There is the Crown of Righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8). The crown of Life (James 1:12; Rev. 2:10). There is the crown of glory (1 Pet. 5:4), The incorruptible crown (1 Cor. 9:25; Rev. 4:4; 9:7; 12:3; 13:1; 19:12). The crown of Joy (Phil. 4:1). And when the rapture of the church is received in heaven before the throne, we throw our crowns at the feet of Jesus (Rev. 4:10).
But you see the visible church going to Church feeling safe by their church membership. If you are Christ's, the world will hate you and there will be rejection of you by those who are upset by the truth of the Spirit filled born again believer, even as there is on this forum.

There is forgiveness from God in Jesus name.

Repentance receive remission of sins.


Go tell that to the world... that by turning from sins and starting to live according to Jesus words... God forgives.

Forgiveness opens the door to restored relationship. That’s where the journey begins. The things that follow are built on that foundation but are more than just repentance and forgiveness, they are deeds done out of love and gratitude....

You received a post from a spokesperson of Jesus Christ.

Jesus doesn't have spokespersons, He has His called (sonship) who have His Scriptures to confirm the called pastor / teacher. You don't join Christ, we are called. You don't find God....for He was never lost. He has been there from the beginning....He found us.

Repentance is the price of admission in a way, so to speak, because one must confess being a sinner in need of a Saviour, yet there's so much more, as you and Red so beautifully put it.

Of course Jesus has chosen persons to teach truths... else only the paid pipers and the wolves in sheep's clothing and the christian impostors would be heard.
