LONDON — The anonymous letters arrived this weekend in plain white envelopes with second-class stamps, and were sent to people in at least six communities in England.

Inside was a message so hateful that it sent out ripples of alarm and prompted a national counterterrorism investigation.

The message said that April 3 would be “Punish a Muslim Day,” and that points would be awarded for acts of violence: 25 points for pulling off a woman’s head scarf, 500 points for murdering a Muslim and 1,000 for bombing a mosque.

This looks like something that was created by a juvenile or from the inside to gain sympathy. Why would they send this to their intended targets? Pretty odd.

I feel like this is one of those manufactured hate crimes that are all the rage these days. The letter and the premise just seem too much like a caricature of a hate crime.

Acid attacks against Muslims are usually perpetrated by Muslims, as are mosque bombings, and "ripping off the hijab" is one of the most popular hate crimes that Muslims fake. If points were awarded for committing these acts against Muslims, Muslims would be well in the lead.
