@Aero her husband owns a business that he started before he met her. She’s the only one on this board with her literally hand out benefitting from money she did nothing to produce herself.
I don't care what the crony capitalists think. They know they are wrong, so they make personal attacks.

To be fair, a lot of socialist agendas are selling fantasy type dreams too. All I'm trying to do is move people away from such notions.

What personal attack? You do seem unable to understand how capitalism works so I wondered if you have a job.

I don’t want socilism either. I just want people to be paid a fair wage for their work and For basic necessities of life to be a given instead of a lottery. This works elsewhere. The only reason it “can’t” here is greed.

Um let's see. I was dismissed as being a complainer. Now I'm some no work having slob for recognizing the problems with late capitalism.

Monopolies are real and should be broken up into smaller companies that have to compete with each other. Doing that helps the consumer and businesses in so many ways.

No, it’s because you don’t see to understand that in companies you can move up.

Now you’ve moved onto monopolies..really?

Lol, only in your magical world of wishful thinking can everyone move up to CEO. Do you know how math works? Upper management is a very small room.

My first post referenced the income disparity caused by things like monopolies and rigged markets in general. But you go with the fallacies, clearly they have worked for you. In your mind you can be CEO with just a little hard work

When I worked at Kmart..the manager there thought he was the king of Kmart because he moved up from just a stock person to the manager of the store. I moved up when the person I worked under quit and they gave me her position and a raise. Happens all the time.

You can be a ceo of your own place if you work hard and come up with some cash...what’s the difference?

Manager of Kmart =\= CEO

it’s embarrassing I even need to say this

additionally each store has one or two managers while they have hundreds of lower level employees. Every lower level employee can not become manager. There aren’t enough managerial jobs for that to happen.

He did work his way up from lowly stock person...that’s something right there. You guys think people can’t do that.

How many stock persons are there per store? How many managers? You realize this is physically impossible for the vast majority of low level stock people simply because for every hundred of them there’s only one manager job to go around.

So you got a promotion by default and that's your idea of advancement? Typical.

Your really only supporting my argument that middle management is the apex of an American career.

Sure..at least I did advance...that’s how it works in retail..except if you want to become management..you don’t get it because the manager left..but you do have to work hard to become a manager.

It could be...or you could work for yourself..unless you get more education and work your way up that way. Its always about working your way up. I wouldn’t have got that advancement if I wasn’t also a hard worker..they would have found someone else.

I'm aware of how it works in retail. And good for you for putting in work somewhere. I'm like right on the cusp of being middle management. So much so that I tend to call myself a rent-a-manager.

I don't want to get stuck as middle management for the rest of my life though. Working for myself seems like the best choice and it fits my personality better. The problem with working for ourselves is like I said before. It's too much like gambling. Like why not just play the lottery at that point?

That is the problem with working for yourself...can you make it especially after the money and hard work you have to put into it? Probably why there aren’t too many mom and pops..people want a sure thing..or as close to a sure thing by working for a big company.

Break up companies like WalMart and the mom and pop shops will have a chance to compete again.

Btw plenty of big companies have declared bankruptcy. So no, working for a big company isn't a sure thing. It's a lot less like gambling though.

Nothing is a sure thing in life. Most big companies have longevity though.

Maybe mom and pop have to figure out a niche/specialty store and compete that way? But they employee a lot less people and can’t usually offer benefits like Walmart can. Though they could end up caring about you or not. One mom and pop I worked for the male owner only liked the male employee...and boy was he awesome in his eyes and the female owner liked us girls.

I want to open up a specialty store myself one of these days.

You realize most Kmart and Sears went out of business right? Your really sitting here advocating for a handful of super large businesses to employ everyone and control all commerce in this country? That’s extremely antiamerican

A local hardware survived Scotty's (home improvement store pre-home depot) then a Home depot (Scotty's folded) many tears go by and the city/county added medians and basically killed the business. there's more to it than competition.
benefits like Walmart can
Do tell us about those great benefits.

So both owners were sexist?

I’m not advocating anything but saying larger companies can employee more people at different rates of pay, offer benefits and promote from within.
While mom and pops might only pay minimum wages and can’t offer the type of benefits people want. They also have family members that come before you and always will. Could be a dead end job unless you like them, the job and are ok with the pay.

Sears holdings is still in business from what I know..although their ceo has been tearing down that company for years.
