So should we go kill all untrustworthy people? Will you be lining up first? Does not being trustworthy really warrant a death sentence without remorse while a business (which btw can also be untrustworthy) burning deserves a memorial and national grief? Get over yourself.
not a snob, just calling it like I see it. You seem to think your something special and your insight matters because your husband owns a business. It doesn’t. Neither does his.
Ok ok I think it does matter. Here is why and I know this has been addressed previously. Being a business owner means you have to put down equity in order to even qualify for financing. Ideally, you also can get insurance to cover things like theft, damage, etc. In many places in the larger American cities, the corner shops we see burning and being looted do not have insurance. They were started by immigrants who have taken out massive loans with very high interest rates so they were not required to put down a large payment upfront. (This is also done to people who buy homes too.. the term is predatory lending or for the religious folks (Usury).)
In the United States, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) associates usury rates with predatory lending, which it describes as the practice of "imposing unfair or abusive loan terms on borrowers." Predatory lenders will generally target demographic groups with less access to or understanding of more affordable forms of financing.
The line between a usurious interest rate and a merely high interest rate is the subject of some controversy. For instance, payday lenders—who provide high-interest loans to subprime borrowers—are often accused of being predatory lenders. Their defenders, however, will argue that their high interest rates are justified by the fact that the loans they provide are of unusually high risk. Without permitting high interest rates as compensation for this risk, those who rely on payday loans may find themselves without any financing options at all.
What does this have to do with Baltimore, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, LA? Everything.
Many of the owners of these shops are not eligible to get insurance because of the crime rate in the areas where they can afford the rent. On top of opening costs there are many extras such as a type of HOA fee that buildings charge businesses for maintenance and upkeep to run the lights in the parking lot, signage fees, and general landscaping. In nicer areas it can run into the 100's - 1000's/per month. In rougher areas those fees are often waved just to at least make the location more attractive because it appears "cheaper".
When riots happen, violence, drug dealing, theft, mugging, and general disorder occurs the business owners do lose more than just their business. They can lose their homes, and become homeless overnight as the debt collectors demand payment. Sadly many business owners don't even speak English as their first language and so are caught in a mess of trying to navigate a complicated system without any knowledge of the safety nets and avenues to get out of such systems until it's too late.
The term usury rate refers to a rate of interest that is considered to be excessive as compared to prevailing market interest rates.

So, for the anarchist who just says FIGHT THE SYSTEM BURN DOWN THE SYSTEM.. you are really fucking over innocent people just to make a point. People who may actually agree with you. However, by looting and burning their livelihood you are setting yourself up to be seen as nothing more than another criminal. Sadly we don't see the nicer areas getting trashed but it's always the "hood" and yes I do believe that it is set up by people like SOROS to create resentment, division, and hatred between the classes.
