Sure there was...That doesn’t all go away because we are a ‘modern’ people...Its a sad day when Christians think that this world is a reflection of God good and God’s glory when it goes against what God says is good. There was no ideal pre-curse. So you are either making up a pre-curse ideal out of thin air or you are suggesting that we still according to the curse as subservient to our husbands.
Genesis 2:15, 18, 21-24
Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

Shouldn’t we be subject to our own husbands..if scripture says so?
Ephesians 5:22
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
