No she didn’t. I did some research on her and it says she graduated from New York University. She also said she majored in poetry in interview. She was making poetry and put it to a beat and then blew up on social media.

They debuted last year. I’m not sure about success in Japan because success is subjective imo. They have mv with over 200 million views though for what that’s worth.
