In case you haven’t heard about this.. Jussie Smollett claimed he was attacked, beaten, and bound around the neck with a noose while 2 “white” people poured bleach on him and claimed “This is MAGA country” in chicago. I remember when the story fist came around many celebrities and news sources were expressing their outrage and disgust, referring to the attack as a modern day “lynching”... things already sounded fishy from the start, with the alleged attacker’s announcing they were going to get him because he was black and gay, and the start of some liberal show “Empire.” Police couldn’t find any evidence of the attack from surveillance footage, and Jussie refused to give authorities his cell phone to look for evidence. Turns out Jussie paid 2 of his Nigerian coworkers to beat him up, and it was all some publicity stunt for him to get attention as a victim for whatever reason. It’s funny because news sources POUNCED on this story, it was everywhere.. caused an even further divide between races.. now they all have to report the “truth.” What do you guys think of the story? What consequences should Jussie face?

The fact that he endangered the lives of two other men, who could have ended up with prison sentences, is reprehensible.

Granted, when someone offers you money to beat them up, you should probably not take the offer... nothing good will ever come from something like that. Nevertheless-- the point stands. Now, when legitimate crimes are committed, they will first be doubted, due to Smollet's selfishness.

As @Colonel Valerio said... what a jackass.

Well, when I first saw this story I didn't immediately think "double-agent". But given how the narrative has developed it seems pretty obvious. It's like someone took a bomb and planted it for the liberal vultures. And they went right for it.

I guess vultures stomach acid is so strong it can destroy the most toxic things on earth. Some of them even eat bones like it's a happy meal. That's pretty gross when you really think about it. So the moral of the story is people should really rethink the whole being a vulture thing.

People aren't roadkill that you can just swoop in and start pecking out eyeballs. We shouldn't tolerate that behavior from anyone.

Why do so many of these attacks happen in ultra-liberal places?

Side question: Is a trans woman FTM or MTF?

It happens in ultra liberal places cause of the leniency and the catering to social justice groups.

I'm a minority myself, but not even I have those hardcore leftist ideologies.
I cannot speak for why Smollett fabricated the situation. But racial tensions are pretty high. A lot of this has been going on before Trump as well. I think the whole maga thing just finally blew the lid off. Go back to 2012 with Treyvon Martin, look at the trickle effect to Ferguson and it builds off from there.
I think in regards the fabricated attempt by Smollett is a by product of all the racial escalation that's just out in the open now.

Incidents like this are fabricated to justify the idea that Trump and his supporters are all racists. Since Trump isn't actually racist, and there are no actual incidents of people turning into violent racists because of him and then attacking minorities, the deranged haters have to stage attacks they can all point to.

Pardon the messy formatting on this. There are an enormous amount of hate crime hoaxes, and I got exhausted trying to make this post fit. Just follow the link if you want to read it in all it's glory.

Reporter Andy Ngo: The list of fake hate crimes is pretty long (Update)
hotair.com/archives/2019/02/18/reporter-andy-ngo-list-fake-hate-crimes-getting-long

The Jussie Smollett investigation seems to have turned a corner over the past few days, but police haven’t issued a definitive statement yet. Regardless of what happens next, now seems like a good moment to remember that high-profile hate hoaxes have become a fairly common occurrence in the Trump era.

Reporter Andy Ngo started a list on Twitter over the weekend and continued it this morning:

Right after Donald Trump’s election, the SPLC really stoked panic. A pro-gay Episcopal church in Indiana was vandalized w/“Heil Trump,” a swastika, & an anti-gay slur. Turns out it was the gay organ player who did it. He was only charged w/a misdemeanor. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/2016/11/13/indiana-church-vandalized-slurs/93772448/ …

Days after the Pittsburgh massacre, Trump supporters were blamed for Nazi vandalism at a Brooklyn synagogue & fires in a Jewish community. Turns out the perpetrator was a gay black man who had worked with city council on an initiative to fight hate crimes. https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2018/11/02/brooklyn-synagogue-anti-semitic-graffiti/ …

One week before the presidential election, a black church in Mississippi was burned in an arson attack. “Vote Trump” was written on the building. After much panic, an investigation revealed that the man responsible was a church member. In Nov 2016 a Muslim student at the University of Louisiana said two white racist Trump supporters brutally assaulted her, ripped off her hijab, & robbed her. The story went viral.

It was a lie. Media never identified her by name after hoax was revealed. https://www.klfy.com/amp/news/lafayette-pd-ul-student-made-up-story-about-attack-stolen-hijab/872671082 …

I remember that Trump & his supporters were blamed for a spate of anti-Semitic, KKK & Nazi graffiti on the campus of Nassau Community College in Long Island in late 2016. The student responsible was Jasskirat Saini: https://abc7ny.com/news/man-charged-after-swastikas-found-at-long-island-college/1666228/ …

In Dec 2016 a Muslim woman said she was attacked by 3 white Trump supporters in NYC on the subway. She said they tried to rip off her hijab.

Yasmin Seweid lied. CAIR said Muslims are under tremendous “stress & pressure” resulting in incidents like this. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/14/nyregion/manhattan-yasmin-seweid-false-hate-crime.html …

In Sep. 2018 a black woman in Long Island said Trump supporters confronted her & told her “she didn’t belong here.” Her car tire was slashed the next day & a hateful note was left behind saying “go home.”

Adwoa Lewis made up the whole story.

In Nov 2018 students at Goucher College demanded social justice training & safe spaces after racist, Nazi, & KKK graffiti was found on campus. Someone even wrote the names of black students. Trump was blamed.

Fynn Arthur, a black student, was responsible.

In 2017 @StOlaf College was roiled by mass protests in response to anti-black notes found across campus. Class was cancelled & admin caved to demands. An investigation found that Samantha Wells, a black victim of one of the notes, fabricated the incident. http://www.startribune.com/st-olaf-report-of-racist-note-on-black-student-s-windshield-was-fabricated/421912763/ …

In autumn 2018 at @KState U, a note was left on an apartment that read "Beware n***ers live here! Knock at your own risk." The "victim" admitted to police that s/he did it himself. This was the 2nd time s/he had fabricated a hate incident in 2 years. https://www.kansas.com/news/local/education/article221373355.html …

Surely, we’re near the end of this list by now? Nope. We’re only halfway.

.@UMich student Halley Bass told police a Trump supporter attacked her by scratching her face in Nov 2016. She said she was targeted for wearing a pin in support of UK Remain. ONLY ON KRON4: Controversial banner causing uproar in Pittsburg neighborhood

What’s really amazing about this long list is that it’s still not complete. Remember the Air Force Academy prep school where racist graffiti was found? That was big news when it happened. That incident also turned out to be a hoax. The person responsible was one of the black students who was supposedly targeted by the graffiti.

How about the Odessa, Texas waiter who claimed someone had written “We don’t Tip Terrorist” in lieu of a tip on a $108 tab. It later turned out he wrote the note himself.

There was also a fake anti-Muslim hate crime last January in Canada. An 11-year-old girl in Toronto claimed someone had cut off her hijab as she walked to school. The attack was quickly condemned by the Mayor and the Prime Minister. Police eventually revealed it never happened. A very similar hoax took place in Virginia a few months later. This time the girl was 13-years-old and claimed someone had grabbed her, threatened her with a knife and ripped off her hijab. Police concluded that never happened either.

And who can forget the Whole Foods hoax? A pastor in Austin claimed Whole Foods had written a gay slur on his cake. He filed a lawsuit and the media was all over the story. Everything changed when Whole Foods revealed they had the whole thing on video. Suddenly the pastor apologized and admitted the company “did nothing wrong.

Let’s wrap this up with the three black students at SUNY in Albany who claimed they’d been victims of a hate crime by white people during a ride on a bus in January 2016. The University President published a letter expressing his concern over the attack. A rally was held on campus which drew as many as 300 people to support the victims. Even Hillary Clinton tweeted about the incident. After reviewing video from the bus, police concluded the three young women were not victims of a hate crime but had instead instigated a racial incident against a white student on the bus (who they referred to as a “white b*tch).

Obviously, I’m not saying that there aren’t real hate crimes taking place out there. But there’s no doubt that in the last three years we’ve seen quite a few high-profile hoaxes which, at the time they happened, were embraced by people on the left as a sign that a climate of hate was sweeping the nation. Some people, and maybe Jussie Smollett is one of them, seem so eager to prove their political opponents are villains they’ll stage a hoax to prove it. That’s a shame because a) they are smearing a lot of innocent people and b) they make it harder on the next person who reports a real hate crime.

Update: I didn’t include it above but the Covington Catholic story pretty much fits this list too. Nathan Phillips’ account of what happened was that this was a racist mob about to enact a hate crime. either against him or the Black Hebrew Israelites. In fact, most of what he said about the incident was a lie. His group and the Black Hebrews were the aggressors, not the other way around.

It's wrong, but nobody should be surprised. I mean we reward hustlers all the time. Most of the time we go so far as to call the hustlers successful. Therefore we should definitely anticipate these types of hoaxes.

When a banker or car dealership hustles people we call that good business. We blame the "mark" for being fooled out of his or her money. So again it's wrong, but as a culture, the perception we create is more important than right or wrong.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Most of these cases are just symptoms, not the disease. The threat isn't from external sources, but rather from internal. In the Smollet case especially (and in many others), the problem seems to be sociopathic narcissism. Sociopathic narcissists want attention and rarely differentiate or care if it's positive or negative attention. They just need their narcissistic supply. The anti-lynching bill was up for debate and I'm sure his support of Kamala Harris played somewhat into that. But in the end, it's just the springboard idea to launch an attempt to get that desperately needed attention that all narcissists demand. So in the end, it was always about him and it always will be. This is the culture social media has helped to create. Studies have proven that narcissism has reached epidemic proportions.
