If radios will still work after a blast, why should anyone worry about an emp? Also, even a concrete block house has glass windows, wood roof and drywall ceiling. Yeah, so much safety there. Just a couple of thoughts from the article.

Speaking of the EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) from nuke blasts, they're said to be harmless to humans but can mess up electronic stuff like radios etc unless you've wrapped up your radio in kitchen foil-
For example the 1962 'Starfish Prime' nuclear test's EMP caused electrical damage in Hawaii, 898 miles away knocking out about 300 streetlights, setting off numerous burglar alarms and damaging a telephone company.
The EMP damage to the microwave link shut down telephone calls from Kauai to the other Hawaiian islands.
