"The Israeli Defense Force has attacked two Syrian army tanks after a dozen spillover projectiles landed in the Israel-controlled part of the Golan Heights from Syrian territory.

The Israeli military said several projectiles fired from Syria “hit an open area” in the northern Golan Heights. No injuries were reported.

Calling the incident an “unacceptable violation of Israeli sovereignty,” IDF aircraft targeted the “origin of launches and two Syrian tanks”.

The Israeli army instructed farmers and civilians near the Quneitra border crossing into Syria to avoid open fields, the Jerusalem Post reports.

An IDF spokesperson told the news outlet that Israel’s retaliation came less than an hour after the spillover fire.

The IDF reportedly stressed that it views Damascus as “ultimately responsible for what is happening in its territory.”

READ MORE: Netanyahu to Putin: Israeli airstrikes in Syria will continue

Israel rigorously guards the western part of the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War. It has also been regularly violating Syria’s sovereignty during the country’s six-year-long conflict. The IDF has conducted several night air raids on Syrian targets that it claimed were weapons systems being shipped to Lebanon by the militant Hezbollah group, which supports Damascus.

The latest high-profile incident occurred in March, when Syrian air defense fired missiles at Israeli jets returning from an airstrike on a target near Palmyra. One of the Syrian missiles was shot down by an Israeli SAM missile over Israeli territory.

The first recorded combat engagement of the Arrow air defense system prompted the IDF to officially confirm its role in the attack. Usually Israel neither denies nor confirms involvement in airstrikes in Syria.

Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country will continue to attack targets in Syria as it sees necessary."

How America Armed Terrorists in Syria
    Another Middle East debacle

"A declassified October 2012 Defense Intelligence Agency report revealed that the shipment in late August 2012 had included 500 sniper rifles, 100 RPG (rocket propelled grenade launchers) along with 300 RPG rounds and 400 howitzers. Each arms shipment encompassed as many as ten shipping containers, it reported, each of which held about 48,000 pounds of cargo. That suggests a total payload of up to 250 tons of weapons per shipment. Even if the CIA had organized only one shipment per month, the arms shipments would have totaled 2,750 tons of arms bound ultimately for Syria from October 2011 through August 2012. More likely it was a multiple of that figure".

"The destroyer had just returned from five months of battling Daesh. (1)Netanyahu spoke of Israel’s contributions to fighting the militant jihadists in Syria and Iraq, hailing the ongoing efforts of the US-led coalition.
"We are here on a mighty aircraft carrier of the United States and a few miles from here, (2) there is another mighty aircraft carrier of our common civilization – it’s called the State of Israel," he said, adding that (3) Israel and the US "are both peace loving people, while we recognize that sometimes you need to fight those enemies of peace, those that want to chop the head off our (4) common societies … (5) This is what we do together."

    WTF??? 1)
Israel hasn't been fighting Daesh, they've been aiding them. 2) Yeah, Israel is an "aircraft carrier" we have to re-buy every year for 3.8 billion 3)"both peace loving people" -The USA has been at war for 16 years now and Israel has had their share of battles. 4)"Common societies"-The last time I checked the USA wasn't an apartheid (in the territories) segregated country. 5) "This is what we do together" - Israel gets the money/weapons support while the USA and it's coalition does all the heavy lifting.
    Conclusion:
Netenyahu is without a doubt one of the biggest bullshit artists on the planet. A lot of people think of Trump as a con-man, but Netenyahu is way slicker than he is.

If Israel was helping ISIS, wouldn't they be doing a lot better than they are?

Saving their sworn enemy: Heartstopping footage shows Israeli commandos rescuing wounded men from Syrian warzone - but WHY are they risking their lives for Islamic militants?
    • Elite Israeli troops rescue wounded Syrians from the world's worst war almost every night
    • They have saved more than 2,000 people since 2013, at a cost of 50 million shekels (£8.7million)
    • Many are enemies of Israel and some may even be fighters for groups affiliated to Al Qaeda
    • MailOnline embedded with Israeli commandos stationed on the border between Israel and Syria
    • Dramatic video filmed by MailOnline and the Israeli army shows these operations taking place
    • Israel says that the operation is purely humanitarian but analysts believe Israel also has strategic reasons

Probably because they spend all their money on villas in Qatar and weapons to attack Israel with instead of infrastructure to improve the lives of the Palestinian people.

The West Bank would be a prettier sight if they spend some of the billions in aid they get for the sake of life instead of death.

Why doesn't the West Bank have a hospital they can treat their own people at? God knows they've gotten enough money for it.

More Hasbara spin doctoring? I hope they're paying you well since you're surely selling your soul in defending this madness. May Almighty God have mercy- I'll pray for you. And one more thing-Anybody who opposes the Syrian Government is a "freedom fighter" but anyone who opposes Israel is a "terrorist"? (I can only see that up to a point. But then, there''s real oppression on display too.) Even when it's known that Al-Queda and other real terrorist groups are mixed in with the "freedom fighters"? So, conclusion: terrorists are OK they just have to be pointed in the right direction? Hypocritical double-standards abound.

Another point. The Russians don't give a sh*t about any "sorting" of the opposition. In their eyes. anyone who opposes the Syrian government is a "terrorist." See, the Russians aren't there to fight just ISIS, they are there to oppose ANYBODY who comes up against the Syrian government. That's an important distinction that seems to get lost in all of this. For those of us living in the actual real world the concern would be WW3 starting over this. Too many superpowers are in one region bumping into each other. Not. good. man.

That's why John McCain was on the talk show claiming that Putin was bombing "the ones we like" which just about sums up the whole situation. Just another regime change which benefits israel as it is of no benefit to the USA. Just more blood and treasure lost.

Oldest question about motive: who benefits? Well, that's gonna be Israel. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's a duck. After all, the 1967 war was just a land grab and it's been admitted now by prominent Israeli's in the government. What's changed? Only the methodology. Soon you'll see "buffer zones" expanding territory. It's not that hard to figure. After all, has the country ever gotten smaller? Nope. Just larger.

I'm glad he thanked the U.S. led coalition, though. See, the Talmud says you're not to blame if you get somebody else to do the dirty work. See: Jesus and the Romans for more about that...

    Get a grip.

The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage of devastating missile strikes carried out by Russian Air Force Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers against the positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) between the Hama and Homs provinces, Wednesday.

    That was yesterday.

If 1967 was a land grab, what happened to the land?

Hope you do not mind this one religious thought UAC.
You made a reference and a prayer and I wanted to follow up with my own thought since it was brought up that Palestinians require monetary aid.

How amazing is the Creator, He is the strongest and best of those that AID and Support.
Our brethren need to concern themselves in the pursuits of struggling towards the Creator.
Working on their connection with Him.

Get a grip? I will pray for you man, no big deal. Your salvation is of utmost concern to me. Ya know, gotta be my brothers keeper and all that jazz...;) Oh, and btw, the Daily Mail witnessed them saving Islamic militants so take it up with them not me. Real news for a change-how refreshing.

Dude, you're kinda spinning my words again to disguise the fact that you have weak arguments, if any at all. Diversion. Of course the Russians are fighting ISIS. The point being made is that any group that goes up against the government is the enemy to the Russians, not just ISIS. As I said, I think this distinction is lost on most people but it explains the Russians take on it. Everybody's ISIS to them-even "the ones we like" as McCain said. (His epitaph should read, "Arm the rebels!" cause that's his one consistent political stance = agenda.)

What happened to the land? Settlers are living on it, that's what. In 1967, they essentially tripled the size of the country in 6 days! Israel already said they will not return the Golan, but hey, there's oil there apparently so bonus-party on! So, even if Syria got a new government they would never get that land back? Guess not. And, after removing 2 regimes after which those countries descended into bloody civil wars, don't you think everybody involved already knows what's gonna happen if the same thing is done in Syria? So please drop the naive act bro, none of this is that hard to figure if you bother paying attention to world politics. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yinon_Plan

So, if Israel wanted to have peace, appease the UN, change world opinion and create more harmony in the region they could simply return to the 1967 borders. It's that simple. So if it's that simple why hasn't it happened? Because, they don't get smaller. Only larger. History proves that. As the old saying goes, "those who don't remember history are condemned to repeat it." Again and again and again...

The 1967 War-The Six Day War:
In an interview published in Le Monde on 28 February 1968, Israeli Chief of Staff Rabin said this: I do not believe that Nasser wanted war. The two divisions which he sent into Sinai on 14 May would not have been enough to unleash an offensive against Israel. He knew it and we knew it.”

On 14 April 1971, a report in the Israeli newspaper Al-Hamishmar contained the following statement by Mordecai Bentov, a member of the wartime national government. The entire story of the danger of extermination was invented in every detail and exaggerated a posteriori to justify the annexation of new Arab territory.”

On 4 April 1972, General Haim Bar-Lev, Rabin’s predecessor as chief of staff, was quoted in Ma’ariv as follows: “We were not threatened with genocide on the eve of the Six Days War, and we had never thought of such a possibility.”

In the spring of 1972, General Matetiyahu Peled, Chief of Logistical Command during the war and one of 12 members of Israel’s General Staff, addressed a political literary club in Tel Aviv. He said:The thesis according to which the danger of genocide hung over us in June 1967, and according to which Israel was fighting for her very physical survival, was nothing but a bluff which was born and bred after the war.”
In a radio debate Peled also said:Israel was never in real danger and there was no evidence that Egypt had any intention of attacking Israel.” He added that “Israeli intelligence knew that Egypt was not prepared for war.”

(UAC: I have actually read Chaim Herzog's book: The Arab-Israeli Wars. Fascinating stuff.)
In the same programme General Chaim Herzog (former Director of Military Intelligence, future Israeli Ambassador to the UN and President of his state) said:There was no danger of annihilation. Neither Israeli headquarters nor the Pentagon – as the memoirs of President Johnson proved – believed in this danger.”

On 3 June 1972 Peled was even more explicit in an article of his own for Le Monde. He wrote:All those stories about the huge danger we were facing because of our small territorial size, an argument expounded once the war was over, have never been considered in our calculations. While we proceeded towards the full mobilisation of our forces, no person in his right mind could believe that all this force was necessary to our ‘defence’ against the Egyptian threat. This force was to crush once and for all the Egyptians at the military level and their Soviet masters at the political level. To pretend that the Egyptian forces concentrated on our borders were capable of threatening Israel’s existence does not only insult the intelligence of any person capable of analysing this kind of situation, but is primarily an insult to the Israeli army.”

...here’s a quote from what Prime Minister Begin said in an unguarded, public moment in 1982. In June 1967 we had a choice. The Egyptian army concentrations in the Sinai approaches did not prove that Nasser was really about to attack us, We must be honest with ourselves. We decided to attack him.”
