I don't know who this celebrity is, but why is she eating her baby's placenta and why is this in the news as a normal thing.

Apparently, according to the Mayo clinic, it's a bad idea medically.

Not only that.. I find it disturbing. o_O
It is gross and seems a bit cannibalistic, imo. I've heard of people doing so before and of people taking it and burying it under their houses (??).

Why is she famous anyway? Flip or Flop was okay. My dad thought she was the smart and pretty one compared to Tarek El Moussa yet her voice is annoying. Okay, so a trophy wife with better skills than her now ex-husband. Her new husband is named after an insect. :)

Agree. Gross. Under their houses?! Weird.

I've heard of this before . . . It's called Placentophagy and apparently a lot of placental mammals do this but it's NEVER been natural for humans. Apparently records of human mothers doing this started in relatively modern history. Methods of consumption range from making capsules to blending them in smoothies or making a lasagna out of it. I threw up a bit in my mouth.

There's also no proven scientific benefits and like someone else mentioned plenty of reasons not to. I'll never get why people use the animal argument -if we were meant to do that it would be been instinctual to our species folks. Oh and I know celebrities are big into this as well which could also be what's increasing it's popularity.

playing devils advocate here...

i looked at the site. they say it could harbor streptococcus bacteria. if its cooked, it would be fine as it would destroy the bacteria.
are animals eating their own placentas for the nutritive value or to cover up evidence of birth so that predators wont come poking around? vegetarian cows consume theirs.
also gross is picking the nose and eating it... but its been shown to increase the immune system (check the linked studies in the article if interested). https://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/science-says-booger-eating-and-nose-picking-healthy/
i would want more studies done to prove that its of no value and "bad" for us. until then, it can only be considered gross.

the cannibalistic and symbolic nature of it is the most important aspect which cannot be defended.

So obviously nobody here has tried a nice placenta bourguignon served with some farver beans and a nice bottle of Chianti?

....(makes strange lippy sound not dissimilar to Hannibal Lecter)
