well Gaddafi doesn't really belong with Fidel and Che and the actual Communists. Gaddafi was into "Islamic socialism". so he promoted religion but he mixed with it with socialism. this is different than actual Marxism/communism as being anti-religious is a basic element of Marxism.

Pretty much no ordinary people in Third World countries believe in anything that crazy. If you go to the poorest villages in the poorest country and you tell them that, they will think you're insane.
