This could very well be a parody of Eyes Wide Shut.
Or the ridiculous, but oddly well-documented, party at the Rothschild's-- in Paris-- back in the 70s.





Taxidermied tortoises were scattered about several tables at the Surrealist Ball, with their simulated eggs used as a candles, where the reptilian creatures met at the center.


The dinner plates were covered in fur, while every guest's litany of forks was accompanied by a dead fish.

More strangeness here.

I suspect these animal-headed parties have been held for centuries, perhaps, each with its own unique (or not) theme.

The invitation was written in backward script... naturally.
