I was having a conversation about history today, and the person mentioned a term I hadn't heard of: Unit 731.
I looked it up, and omg, you guys, it is really shocking and scary! Apparently, the Japanese in World War II had a biological warfare unit in their army. They "tested" their theories and methods on the people of Manchuria, an area they had been occupying (and brutalizing) since 1931.
A few of you may know about this already, especially if you're older and went to school during the Cold War, when they would have included such information as a matter of course. But, I can attest that by the 80's, they were NOT teaching this, and certainly not now, what with the successful "dumbing down" of the curricula to foster an easier transition to political correctness and the acceptance of opinions as fact.
Make NO Mistake, my fellow VCers-- all the claptrap about how "racist" it was to bomb Japan and intern their nationals residing here in the US, is complete and utter bullsh*t. While it is has become fairly common knowledge that there were active spy networks engaged in sabotage, and balloons released in the jet stream carrying instruments (and according to this article, clay pots with disease samples inside!) that were found in Alaska and the Pacific-Northwest. But no one really mentions the fact that the Japanese military was planning to release various epidemic strains along the west coast of the US and some other countries. These included typhoid, cholera, dysentery, and the star of the show was the Black Plague.
Also worth noting: you know how the Nazis got busted doing inhumane experiments on humans that amounted to Crimes Against all of Humanity? Yeah, well, the Japanese may have actually been worse. I couldn't even read the description of their atrocities in this article all in one sitting. I kept having to take breaks to process the information and cry. (And I'm one of those who enjoys a good horror movie or story, not squeamish at all! That how bad/evil/vicious they were.)
Why am I posting this horrible stuff, you ask? Not to spread the misery or any such thing, but to make sure that You have a better understanding of what really went down, the circumstances of the day, and why the political and military leaders made the decisions that they did. It wasn't out of greed, or envy, or racist enmity. It was to stop evil in its tracks, both figuratively and factually.
I also shared the article here because I know that ours is an international readership. It is clear that the propaganda machine is working 24/7 in many of your countries, just as it is here in the US. The more people who know the dirty secrets like this, makes it harder for the PTB to sway public opinion this way and that and achieve their nefarious ends.
We have a Veterans' Day holiday coming up next month, (11 November) which most people just kinda blow off; except for those who have the day off from work, nobody really pays attention any more. I think we need to change that. Not just here in the US, but all of you, my friends, in all of your different countries that fought as Allies in WWII, we need to take a moment and really understand what a huge gift our grandfathers and great-grandfathers gave to us, and to the world. They kept us safe from epidemics that make Covid look like a walk in the park. On a sunny day. With a parasol.
So if the opportunity presents itself, show some love and some gratitude to your old soldiers, sailors, and defense force vets. They absolutely deserve it, and far more. Share this info, and stuff like it, with your friends and loved ones, and make sure that we don't forget, or it's likely to happen again in the future.

Fact: Japan Wanted to Drop Plague Bombs on America Using 'Aircraft Carrier' Subs
A World War II tale like no other.
