Down is up and other things
Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
I think of the last couple of days talking about what is real in the world. Can we really and should we really make up our own reality to suit our own desires? Is that really right and good or does right and good matter? Or can people determine right and good without God?
It seems to me that people are indeed attempting to establish right and wrong without God....
God created Adam and Eve, man and woman, He created them. Yet the world is attempting to change things about this set up they don't really care for.
First that gender doesn't matter. Yet God created gender. And He created gender for a reason, so that we could be fruitful and multiply. He made them man and woman...he didn't make man and man or woman and woman but man and woman....that is God's good desire for us.
Some people's desire is for what God calls an abomination, men with men and women with women, yet people who do this want it to be known as normal and good, therefore going against what God intended. God said when He created man and woman that it was good, is it still good and should we consider it good if we decide to define good as men and men or women and women?
There is also a desire to say that their is no gender and we shouldn't call people he or she but some weird other pronouns like ze that seek something like neutrality. Isn't that also going against God, He created them man and woman, He created gender, that is God's desire that there be gender, how is it good then to pretend, for that is what we do when we say there is no gender, that that is good?
I think of men and women who want to be known as the opposite of what they are born. A man wants to be known as a woman and a woman wants to be known as a man, saying they were born in the wrong bodies...when maybe they weren't born in the wrong bodies but that their desire is for what they aren't?
And it seems the world is now saying that is ok and people are going to go out of their way to make it known that this is right and normal. God says He created us in our mothers womb...can a person then be considered to be in the wrong body if God says this is what you are? Are we then saying God lied? Or is it a desire of ours to want something that isn't normal to be normal?
One must then wonder, where does this all end? If we want to get rid of the things God calls good and make up new rules and realities, can it all end well? The answer is that it won't. The Bible tells us that sin is lawlessness and lawlessness is sin. That is what people are actually intending, whether they understand it or not. They are attempting to make God's good will evil and what God deems evil-good for their own desire and what God calls sin.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
Romans 1:24-25
And finally God also says that that isn't the only thing to happen when we decide to live in our own "good" ways....
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Romans 1:26-32
Notice it starts out saying that these people did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer...that is what people are doing when they say they want to live how they want and they don't care about what is right. Right being the way God says things are, not the way we say things are... we who are riddled with sin and an evil heart. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately sick...how then can we know right and wrong without God?
Look also at the depravity that God will give people over to; being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful.
Kinda seems like the world today doesn't it?
And let's take a look at the last sentence... they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Not only do people practice what God calls depravity they give hearty approval to others who do the same. The crazy thing is is that people want abnormal to be normal and will heartily approve all who want to do the same...and those who say this isn't right are the ones who are mean, evil, unloving and are the fun sponges, trying to dry up all the fun because they are so self righteous. When the fact is, we have read the Bible and we know what the Bible says...that's very strong language from God, don't ya think?
Should I or anyone else downplay it to make it better to take? The truth is when a person or persons go against the word of God, they are in fact going against God, and that comes with a punishment...separation from God and the lake of fire...where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. That's pretty strong language too.
Some people want to say there is no God or that God is only love and He doesn't care what we do as long as we don't hurt anyone. The truth is that God is real and cares an awful lot about what we do because the sinful things we do hurt Him. All creation testifies that there is a God, our consciences, when we sin also testify, because He put His law in our hearts, that there is a God. God says there is a right way...if you are going against that way...you are indeed going against God.
When we start to say down is up...we are on shaky ground indeed!
