Do you keep the law? Why The Law Cant Save and Why It Only Brings Wrath and Condemnation

(I wrote the following in response to someone else, but I will post this here, because I feel its relevant)

Why does the law bring wrath and condemnation?

...whats critical to understand is that ALL sin is essentially chalked up as a failure to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. It is a failure to keep the most important commandment. Sin is transgression from the law and when we sin we break the law and as result we are acctually breaking the the entirety of the law, every jot and tittle(James 2:10). If you remain consistent with this notion and follow the logic of scripture then this is indeed the ultimate conclusion. Even according to the ten commandments if you commit any sin and sin in your heart/attitude you are failing to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. If you act in pride you are failing to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and in result you break the entire law by breaking the most important commandment. If you dont believe God will provide for you and waver in unbelief/doubt you are sinning against God and failing to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength for whatever is not of faith is sin(Romans 14:23). Zechariah became mute until John the Baptist was born, because he didnt believe in the word brought to him by an angel of the lord. That is how great of a sin unbelief is. The Isrselites couldn't even enter into the promised land, because of their unbelief! How great an offense! How sinful of a sin before God! Yet, how many of us constantly doubt the lord and sin against him?

Also, if you know to do right and don't do it, it is sin(James 4:17) and once again you have failed to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. That means if I feel God calls me to pray and dont do it then it is sin, because I failed to love God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength and didnt do what I knew to be right. How many times in just ONE day do we fail to love God with all our hearts and sin against him in our very attitudes and omissions? Yes, even omission and the act of omission is sin and a failure to love God with all heart, mind, soul, and strength. To those who claim to keep the law - What is keeping the Sabbath if we break the entire law all over again everyday through other sins? What is the sabbath if you fail to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength by being found guilty of other sins? The law is so holy, the commandments are so holy and they show no partiality. Can you honestly say you even keep the most important commandment everyday? Can you honestly say you love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength at ALL times and in ALL moments throughout the day?

I would like to speak from personal experience. Do you know how many times God has put something in my heart to do, but I did not do it? I was either too tired, too lazy, too afraid, or too stubborn. This is certainly not ok by any means! I am just pointing out that to him who knows to do right, but doesnt do it, it is sin. Do you know how many times I have questioned Gods love and goodness in my heart? How many times I have wavered in faithlesness in unbelief? I sinned against God and failed to love him with all my heart and in this one sin of the attitude of my heart I broke the entire law all over again. Whatever is NOT of faith IS SIN! Remember how Israel was wiped out when they took census of how many soldiers they had before battle? They failed to trust in God for the victory and put misplaced trust in themselves.

Do we not realize how holy and impartial the law and commandments are? Do we not realize how utterly sinful we are in light of them apart from the perfect righteousness of Christ? Do we not realize how utterly condemned we are by the law? Do we not realize how holy and perfect God is?!

Now DONT GET ME WRONG. This post is not to strengthen the hand of the backslider, the wayward, or the wicked that they remain comfortable in their sin and not turn from their ways that grieve the lord, their ways that tempt his rod of correction that brings chastisement. If we are resisting the holy spirit then it is coming, be assured! This post isnt to suggest that we cant overcome our sinful passions by the blood of Christ and by the power of the holy ghost that we may grow in Christ. Its not to insunuate that since we all have sin that there is no point in even trying to pursue holiness and putting to death the deeds of the body. The contrary is true! We are more than conquerers through Christ.

This post is for those who are under the presumption that they acctually keep the law and try to impose the law on others. It is merely to bring to remembrance the sheer holiness and perfection of God and his law, his holy standard. It is to point out that by the deeds and righteousness of the law that NOBODY is justified, because NOBODY keeps or has kept the law except Christ. The law demands PERFECT obediance without fail and if you fail in one jot or area of the law then you are guilty of breaking the ENTIRE law. Good intentions arent enough. Trying isnt enough. There is no in between. You either keep all of it perfectly and without fail or you keep absolutely NONE of it. These are the holy and immutable demands of the law! Imagine how holy God is! Even the early jewish disciples at the council of Jerusalem recognized how holy and demanding the law was as well as their utter failure to keep it.

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? Acts 15:50

The point of this post is to point out that the law only works and brings wrath, because under the perfect standard and light of the law there is only imputed sin, that ALL are shutup before God under sin. We can only build up our criminal record of sin under the law..... BUT where there is no law there is NO transgression. This is why Christ redeemed us from the law, because there is no fellowship or access to God where trespasses are being counted against us. This is the jurisdiction of the law and if we try and rebuild what was destroyed in Christ we turn ourselves into transgressors all over again(Galatians 2:18)! So if you claim to keep the law and commandments put yourself to the test. You will find out that if you are truthful with yourself that the law cannot and will not ever paint you in a favorable light with God, because the law demands you keep all of it(Galatians 5:3). "Cursed is everyone who does not continue ALL things having been written in the book of the Law(Galatians 3:10)."

One sin was enough to turn Adam and Eve into rebels and bring complete and utter condemnation on themselves and the human race. It didn't matter how much they had obeyed previously. All it took was one sin and their righteousness and former obediance turned into unrighteousness and condemnation. One sin according to the standard of the law brings the same condemnation. If you fail in one area of the law you break ALL of it and become a a rebel, a lawbreaker. The entire purpose of the law was to show us our complete and utter need for the perfect righteousness of Christ. It is the only righteousness that is acceptable before God. You cant add to or take away from a perfect righteousness. If we are truly in Christ and been adopted as a son or daughter and been born again by the spirit of God then our trespasses are no loner counted against us. He has given us his perfect righteousness and we are justified before God apart from the works of the law. You can only ever be found guilty as a SINNER according to the law!

In Christ we are loosed from the law and joined unto Christ to serve in the newness of spirit as ministers of the new covenant. Not of the letter, but of the spirit. We should not be pointing backwards to the law, because the law only works wrath by taking our sins into account. The power of sin is the law(1 Corinthians 15:56).

In Christ we are free, but we should examine ourselves to see whether or not we are truly in the faith and if Jesus Christ is truly in us(2 Corinthians 13:5). If we are born again and his spirit is in us then we are not under the law. We are called to freedom to serve in the newness and power(liberation) of the spirit! We are called to freedom.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

Galatians 5:16-26
King James Version
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

""""But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.""""

Regular christians or xtians i should say, are good at quoting Paul, but have no other understanding of the underlying theme or it's origins.
This topic, is an extention of judeo-hellenistic ideas coming from greek philosophy, that originated in the east.
in the east, in hinduism and in taoism, are known as
the path of right action (law) and the path of non-action (faith).
These paths are yogas (which means path) and there are various paths each with it's own merits...and a person can choose which one to follow, because before that people were lacking direction and didn't know how to go about seeking enlightenment.

right-action is about following the law of scripture to the best of ones ability in order to purify the heart.
non-action is about understanding that a person's heart produces qualities which result in the action. so if the heart is corrupt the actions will be corrupt, making it impossible to even follow the law. so the focus here is on purifying the heart.
the whole concept of 'refining like silver' is for the heart to reflect light...and it is this 'reflection' aspect that involves Jesus. Thus, those who loved Jesus and whose hearts were reflecting Jesus, attained his qualities by extention.

which is all fine and well, except the average xtian absolutely does not even know Jesus, so how can he exist in their heart? Jesus doesnt know you, because you don't know Jesus...get it?
Jesus is not deity. He isnt co equal in Godhead with the Father.

The law is a reflection of Gods divine character and attributes. The scripture says that if we have been ransomed and belong to Christ then he has given us a heart to know him and the law is written in our hearts. People need to read and perceieve the old covenant in light of the new one, not vice versa. The law was never the reality, but rather the shadowy substance that testified of the reality which is Christ. If we have been born again then we are the temple of God who houses his spirit. The law via the spirit is IN our hearts. The spirit is a reflection of Gods character and attributes. This is why Paul always spoke of the superiority of the ministration of the spirit and how it exceeds the glory of the law. The law was always a reflection of Gods person. Now that the spirit has come the reality has come. God IN us and Gods person in us via the holy spirit. We need to stop pointing back to the law now that the fulfillment of the law has come. The law bore witness to the person of Christ and if we are in him then his person via the holy spirit is in us.

That's always where I start skipping.

And its just...
Whenever someone says a book is hard to read, I always suggest Liviticus.

The post just made me laugh so I clicked the laugh guy, then realised it could be taken wrong...

You know how it goes.

This is an excellent article written by a Christian about God's food laws in the Bible. This article is very well translated and easy to understand. I know for a fact that God's food laws are perfect because this helped me resolve a health issue that I used to have. It took me a long time to learn, adapt and recover but it worked. Don't know what I would have done without them. I will not dare to waver from this.

Striking how much processed food is contaminated these days with unlawful food, as if it was done on purpose. If you look at the World Economic Forum food plan for the future, it so happens to involve the use of unlawful insects for human consumption. I wonder why there are no lawful insect in their plan, perhaps there is something to it. My Christian friends think I'm crazy about my eating habits, the concept of keeping God's laws in general, but I'm OK with it, they have been warned. Anyway, perhaps this article will help some of you in some way.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Malachi 4:4 Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.

Deuteronomy 27:10
You shall therefore obey the Lord your God, and do His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”

Jeremiah 7:23
But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’

Deuteronomy 30:10
if you obey the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.

Numbers 15:40
so that you may remember to do all My commandments and be holy to your God.

1 Samuel 15:22
Samuel said,
“Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.

Deuteronomy 12:28
“Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 8:20
Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so you shall perish; because you would not listen to the voice of the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 28:1
“Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

Leviticus 26:14
‘But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,

Deuteronomy 11:28
and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known.

There are so many verses where God command that we follow his laws, statues, and judgments however, most Christians choose to “ do as thou wilt”. They have been deceived to believe that the laws are done away with. So it all comes down to whether you choose to believe The Most High God, or other gods that you have not known.

Christian's are under a new covenant.

Galatians 4:21-31

21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, (A)one by a slave woman and (B)one by a free woman. 23 But (C)the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while (D)the son of the free woman was born through promise. 24 Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two (E)covenants. (F)One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar.25 Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;[a] she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26 But (G)the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.27 For it is written,
(H)“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”
28 Now you,[b] brothers, (I)like Isaac, (J)are children of promise. 29 But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh (K)persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, (L)so also it is now. 30 But what does the Scripture say? (M)“Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31 So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but (N)of the free woman.

Romans 7:1-6

7 Or do you not know, brothers[a]—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? 2 For (A)a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.[b] 3 Accordingly, (B)she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.
4 Likewise, my brothers, (C)you also have died (D)to the law (E)through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, (F)in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work (G)in our members (H)to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the (I)new way of (J)the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.[c]

I am not under any obligation to observe the old testament law. I am loosed from the law to serve in newness of the spirit. This is the new covenant.

Romans 8:1-17

8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.[a] 2 For the law of (A)the Spirit of life (B)has set you[b] free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For (C)God has done what the law, (D)weakened by the flesh, (E)could not do. (F)By sending his own Son (G)in the likeness of sinful flesh and (H)for sin,[c] he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that (I)the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, (J)who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For (K)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on (L)the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on (M)the things of the Spirit.6 For to set (N)the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is (O)hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; (P)indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact (Q)the Spirit of God dwells in you. (R)Anyone who does not have (S)the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.11 If the Spirit of (T)him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus[d] from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies (U)through his Spirit who dwells in you.

12 So then, brothers,[e] we are debtors, (V)not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you (W)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are (X)led by the Spirit of God are (Y)sons[f] of God. 15 For (Z)you did not receive (AA)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of (AB)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, (AC)“Abba! Father!” 16 (AD)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then (AE)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (AF)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Galatians 5

5 For (A)freedom Christ has (B)set us free;(C)stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to (D)a yoke of (E)slavery.
2 Look: I, Paul, say to you that (F)if you accept circumcision, (G)Christ will be of no advantage to you. 3 I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that (H)he is obligated to keep the whole law. 4 You are (I)severed from Christ, (J)you who would be justified[a] by the law; (K)you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly (L)wait for the hope of righteousness.6 For in Christ Jesus (M)neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but (N)only faith working through love.
7 (O)You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying (P)the truth? 8 This persuasion is not from (Q)him who calls you. 9 (R)A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 (S)I have confidence in the Lord that you will (T)take no other view, and (U)the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. 11 But if I, brothers,[b] still preach[c] circumcision, (V)why am I still being persecuted? In that case (W)the offense of the cross has been removed. 12 I wish (X)those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. (Y)Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love (Z)serve one another. 14 For (AA)the whole law is fulfilled in one word: (AB)“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you (AC)bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

16 But I say, (AD)walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify (AE)the desires of the flesh. 17 For (AF)the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, (AG)to keep you from doing the things you want to do.18 But if you are (AH)led by the Spirit, (AI)you are not under the law. 19 Now (AJ)the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, (AK)divisions, 21 envy,[d] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that (AL)those who do[e] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But (AM)the fruit of the Spirit is (AN)love, joy, peace, patience, (AO)kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 (AP)gentleness, (AQ)self-control; (AR)against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (AS)have crucified the flesh with its (AT)passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, (AU)let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 (AV)Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

The spirit of God is in me and in him I am free and no longer a slave to sin. I am not in the flesh, I am in the spirit therefore I am not under the law nor am I bound to it. I am not called to observe it. I am free in Christ. The righteous requirement of the law is met and satisfied to those who walk in the spirit. This is what the Bible plainly teaches.

The law is for the lawless. It is meant to regulate sinful behavior and reveal the complete and utter sinfulness of man as well as the holiness and righteousness of God.

If you are living according to the law though you are a debtor to do the whole law. You are not able to pick and choose which aspects to keep. You MUST perform all of it. No exceptions. That is the tragic and unrealized reality for religious and practicing Jews.

Psalms 81:8- Hear ME my people and I will testify against you, O Israel if you would only listen to ME Among you there will be no foreign god. I AM YOUR GOD

Psalms 81:13“If my people would only listen to ME, if Israel would only follow MY ways,

Isaiah 51: LISTEN TO ME, you who know righteous. The people with my law in their hearts. “

Sorry, not sorry I choose to listen to God. Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Good luck and God bless.
