What happens when a person with Type 1 diabetes (needing insulin injections to stay alive) gets an eating disorder.
Anyone who knows someone with Diabetes type 1 who is starting to lose weight suddenly please look for signs of eating disorders as well, then do what you can to make them seek specialist treatment ASAP.
I used to look after end stage elderly diabetics in nursing homes, with kidney failure, amputated legs and/ or early onset dementia because their diabetes had been poorly controlled. That is going to happen to all of those patients prematurely if they do not put their health first. One already needs to use crutches for the rest of her life. Another's eyesight has suddenly got poorer.
