So if 35 million have died of AIDS 9 million in a year, worldwide is impossible?

Interestig bc this is what this site says:

"Here are the latest statistics as reported by UNAIDS: The estimated 770,000 million AIDS-related deaths in 2018 add to the worldwide total of 32 million deaths reported since the beginning of the epidemic. "

Yes, a simple google search.
Read your own quote one more time and think about it very carefully. If there were 770,000 deaths due to aids in 2018, which would add to the running total of 32 million. This could be rounded to say the total in 2019 was 33 million.

now you are saying it is not unreasonable that there were 9 million deaths in 2019.

if there were 9 million deaths in 2019, the total for the beginning of 2020 would 42 million instead of 35 million.

do you see the problem?

in addition to this, if you are saying there were 770,000 aids related deaths in 2018 and there were 9 million in 2019. This would be a difference of 8 million making aids related deaths in 2019 at a pandemic level that the news would not be able to ignore.

After thinking about this, my guess is that video may have suggested that 9 million people tested positive for hiv in 2019. I haven’t checked whether this figure might have been what they have said and you may have missed this while watching the video.

in this case we would match 9 million positive hiv tests with over a million positive tests results for covid. In 10 months we would know how this number compares. It is too soon to say. It looks like the number has slowed down a little bit already So there is no way of knowing whether it will continue at the same rate or slow down before we reach a full year of keeping track of this.

it could end up being lower than 9 million but we would still have to factor the shelter in place orders throughout the world as a contributing factor in reaching that final number. Whereas, we have not had to use the same approach with aids. So the numbers no matter what will only be comparable to a degree because the conditions for tracking these numbers are not the same.

numbers are easy to put in the wrong order. For example, math isn’t especially hard, but it easy easy to miss a number and then the whole result is wrong. When you see a number, slow down and think about what that number is saying. It is really easy to make mistakes with numbers.

Wtf is this? The lets talk about anything other than the Coronavirus thread?

It's incredible how much totally unrelated shite gets posted in threads such as this one which then makes the search for anything relevant virtually impossible.... unless you've got a couple of hours to spare scrolling through pages and pages of bot like chatter.

Just an observation.
I mean taking breaks and talking about something else isn't a problem from my perspective. The coronavirus is rather a negative topic after all, we can take breaks for a couple of days and talk about something else, and then come back to the original topic. I really don't see anything wrong with that.

We're literally talking about something else right now as we speak. We drift into different conversations naturally, so to be honest I really don't think it matters since it happens naturally. Yes, I'm aware of that, but are you aware of this?

Tell them you’re volunteering for one of the nearby amish counties. That they need a butter churner or something.

Our Canadian emergency benefits program went online today, and since my wife qualifies, she signed up. There were four questions to answer, it took two minutes, and they say the money will be in the bank in a couple days.

What i don’t understand and where my own conspiratorial questioning lies - why when we know this weren’t we better prepared and how are all of our systems verging on total collapse after a couple weeks of only partial shut downs.
The simple answer is free-market competition ends up being our undoing. That's why we are seeing so many supply shortages. And people wonder why socialism is popular?

Like wow, what a mystery. Who would have thought racing to the top might backfire.

I see the error in our ways.
