All countries have an insurmountable debt that they will NEVER be able to repay due to the interest... and we're supposed to believe that charging interest is a good thing?

I would add that Leslie's solution was more in line with what Daze has indicated, which is NOT charge interest at all and get rid of the private banks that are doing so.
I don't think any sane person approves of the so-called banking system today, and I haven't seen anyone claim to believe charging interest is a good thing. But that wasn't really the point of the exchange. Daze introduced Usury here, and claimed the verses permitting interest (charged to non-needy, foreign businessmen sometime between the 15th + 7th centuries, BCE) proved the biblical account to be, in its everloving entirety, fraudulent.

I disagree.
Anyway... it's a very different subject from the one you seem to be addressing, and I regret wasting my time on it.

I'll let Phipps get back to contradicting the Bible.

By all means, the thread can certainly continue. I'm tired of skimming through threads that lack of emotional maturity, exhibit online hatred on feigning to be followers of Christ.

Facts that prove the Bible was written by divine inspiration.

The Bible says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16).

One of the greatest miracles of the Bible is its unity. Just ponder these amazing facts:

The 66 books of the Bible were written:

1. On three continents.

2. In three languages.

3. By about 40 different people (such as kings, shepherds, scientists, attorneys, an army general, fishermen, priests, and a physician).

4. Over a period of about 1,500 years.

5. On the most controversial subjects.

6. By people who, in most cases, had never met.

7. By authors whose education and background varied greatly.

Yet, though it seems totally inconceivable, the 66 books maintain harmony with one another. And even when new concepts on a certain subject are expressed, they do not undermine what other Bible writers say on the same subject.

This is almost too amazing to believe! Ask people who have viewed the same event to give a report of what happened and you’ll discover that their stories will often differ widely and will contradict each other in some way. Yet the Bible, penned by 40 writers over a 1,500-year period, reads as if it was written by one mind. And indeed it was: “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit “moved” them all; He is the real Bible author.

You are a Muslim because you believe in Islamic teaching. Yet you think you can simultaneously believe in the Bible too which is impossible. That is why you don't believe Jesus is God even though He is according to His Word, the Bible.
Nowhere in all of Scripture does it tell us Jesus is God, nor did Jesus ever claim to be God.

So you again contradict the Scripture, while pretending your errant (satanic really) viewpoint is allegedly Biblical, and while hypocritically accusing me of blasphemy in the process (Isa. 5:20-21).

Evidence for Bible inspiration when we compare Old Testament prophecies of the coming Messiah with New Testament events in the life of Jesus.

The Bible says, “Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He (Jesus) expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27).

“for he (Apollos) vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ” (Acts 18:28).

The Old Testament predictions of the Messiah were so specific and so clearly fulfilled by Jesus of Nazareth that both Jesus and Apollos used these prophecies to prove that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. There are more than 125 of these prophecies. Let’s review just 12 of them:

ProphecyOld Testament PredictionNew Testament Fulfillment
1.Born in BethlehemMicah 5:2Matthew 2:1
2.Born of a virginIsaiah 7:14Matthew 1:18-23
3.David’s lineageJeremiah 23:5Revelation 22:16
4.Target of murder attemptJeremiah 31:15Matthew 2:16-18
5.Betrayed by a friendPsalms 41:9John 13:18, 19, 26
6.Sold for 30 silver coinsZechariah 11:12Matthew 26:14-16
7.CrucifiedZechariah 12:10John 19:16-18, 37
8.Lots cast for His clothesPsalms 22:18Matthew 27:35
9.No bones brokenPsalms 34:20John 19:31-36
10.Buried in a rich man’s tombIsaiah 53:9Matthew 27:57-60
11.Year, day, hour of His deathDaniel 9:26, 27; Exodus 12:6Matthew 27:45-50
12.Raised the third dayHosea 6:2Acts 10:38-40

What are the odds that Jesus could have fulfilled just eight of these prophecies by mere chance? Dr. Peter Stoner, former chairman of the departments of mathematics, astronomy, and engineering at Pasadena College in California, applied the principle of probability to this question.

He calculated the odds of just eight being fulfilled by one man as one in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

What would be the odds of all 125 prophecies of the Messiah being fulfilled by chance alone? It simply couldn’t have happened by chance!

Matthew 4:4, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

2 Timothy 3:16-17,
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Psalms 18:30,
"As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

1 John 2:5,
“But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.”

"Wycliffe accepted the Holy Scriptures with implicit faith as the inspired revelation of God's will, a sufficient rule of faith and practice. And he taught not only that the Bible is a perfect revelation of God's will, but that the Holy Spirit is its only interpreter, and that every man is, by the study of its teachings, to learn his duty for himself. Thus he turned the minds of men from the pope and the Church of Rome to the Word of God."

The Bible has successfully survived all the attacks of its enemies for thousands of years. It remains today "a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path" (Psalms 119:105).
Yes, one minute atheists and nonchristians say the bible has been edited and tidied up over the centuries to make it look good, but the next minute they say it's full of contradictions.
Wish they'd make up their minds..:)

The Sure Word of Prophecy.

Bible truth is established in many ways, but none quite so convincing as by prophecy. Anyone who candidly and objectively compares the prophecies of the Bible with the facts of history will be astonished by their accurate fulfilment. And just as there can be no creation without a Creator, there can be no true prophecy without a divine Intellect who “knows the end from the beginning.”

Challenge to the Skeptics.

All Scripture is established in truth, but prophecy gives the most clear and conclusive proof of divine revelation: “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

God challenges the skeptics and false prophets to produce prophecies and bring them to pass: “Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together” (Isaiah 41:22-23).

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

“I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. . . . I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee” (Isaiah 48:3, 5).

Many remarkable prophecies of great cities, kingdoms, events and more have been accurately fulfilled.

Study the Bible for Yourselves.

Allow no one to be brains for you, allow no one to do your thinking, your investigating, and your praying. This is the instruction we need to take to heart today. Many of you are convinced that the precious treasure of the kingdom of God and of Jesus Christ is in the Bible which you hold in your hand. You know that no earthly treasure is attainable without painstaking effort. Why should you expect to understand the treasures of the word of God without diligently searching the Scriptures? It is proper and right to read the Bible; but your duty does not end there; for you are to search its pages for yourselves. The knowledge of God is not to be gained without mental effort, without prayer for wisdom in order that you may separate from the pure grain of truth the chaff with which men and Satan have misrepresented the doctrines of truth. Satan and his confederacy of human agents have endeavored to mix the chaff of error with the wheat of truth. We should diligently seek for the hidden treasure, and seek wisdom from heaven in order to separate human inventions from the divine commands. The Holy Spirit will aid the seeker for great and precious truths which relate to the plan of redemption. I would impress upon all the fact that a casual reading of the Scriptures is not enough. We must search, and this means the doing of all the word implies. As the miner eagerly explores the earth to discover its veins of gold, so you are to explore the word of God for the hidden treasure that Satan has so long sought to hide from man. The Lord says, “If any man willeth to do His will, he shall know of the teaching.” John 7:17 (R. V.) FE 307.2

The word of God is truth and light, and is to be a lamp unto your feet, to guide you every step of the way to the gates of the city of God. It is for this reason that Satan has made such desperate efforts to obstruct the path that has been cast up for the ransomed of the Lord to walk in. You are not to take your ideas to the Bible, and make your opinions a center around which truth is to revolve. You are to lay aside your ideas at the door of investigation, and with humble, subdued hearts, with self hid in Christ, with earnest prayer, you are to seek wisdom from God. You should feel that you must know the revealed will of God, because it concerns your personal, eternal welfare. The Bible is a directory by which you may know the way to eternal life. You should desire above all things that you may know the will and ways of the Lord. You should not search for the purpose of finding texts of Scripture that you can construe to prove your theories; for the word of God declares that this is wresting the Scriptures to your own destruction. You must empty yourselves of every prejudice, and come in the spirit of prayer to the investigation of the word of God. FE 307.3
