Oops... You forgot to mention the FACTS of Ellis island. At least try to be somewhat honest. Immigrants didn't just hop off the ships and into America. There was a strict process to get through Ellis Island -

1. They were were held until physically checked over thoroughly and interrogated.

2. They had to prove they were medically and mentally sound.

3. They had to prove they could financially take care of themselves so they would not be a burden on the country.

4. They also had to prove they were not a danger to society i.e. criminals.

Those rejected were sent back to their home countries. Sick children over 12 were sent back by themselves. Sick children under 12 had to go back with at least 1 one parent.

My great grandparents/grandparents all came through Ellis island. The requirements were fair and helped protect citizens from disease and financial strain.
Your ignoring the fact that we no longer have a system for immigration even in place. We could do the same thing with the people showing up now, we don’t. Instead we spend billions caging them like animals and provide pretty much no path to citizenship.
