Christians judge god as good. Gnostic Christians judge god as evil. Which religion is correct?

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” Richard Dawkins.

I say shame on all Christians for not judging justly and being morally corrupt.

I offer as evidence of Yahweh’s corruption one simple fact. 1Peter 1:20 0 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

This is god setting a bribe price to reverse his usual justice of punishing the innocent to punishing the guilty. This shows his moral and ethical corruption. It also show Jesus as just as corrupt as he went along with it.

Gen3;22 Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil;
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

What is your judgement?

Thanks for this good quote that curses Christians.

You should do stand up, GCB!! I can picture you in a druid gown clutching a staff and taking on the hostile crowd.

All of it just begs the question - why on earth would you want to stand up for the enemy of God (who really hates in return, despite all the criticism you take for him) when your sins were put on Jesus so you could inherit eternal life?!

I see that you have abdicated your own responsibility to ride your scapegoat Jesus and have judged a vile and immoral god as good.

You call evil good.

Richard Dawkins is an idiot & a p***phile. I wouldn’t put much stock in his God-hating opinion.

You have no understanding of the characteristics of God.

You just don’t like His superiority over you, and you loathe that He has ultimate control over Creation. He could snatch the breath from you at any moment & end your life whenever He wants.

Tread lightly when you speak of the Creator.

I believe the perspectives I hold generally are superior to anything "gnosticism" holds to be true....
And that isn't any praise for myself but just for knowing the origin of the "idea"...

Gnosticism just like Christianity were born out of a hellenised world view. Hellenism was largely influenced by eastern philosophy.
One of the ideas of hinduism is the concept of Maya...both the higher Maya that takes out out of unity and into multiplicity..that enables creation and so forth ..
And the lower Maya that causes is to become attached to the material world.

Furthermore they also understand that God/isvara is independent of humankind YET both Maya's act as kind of filters or prisms through which the power of God manifests
So for example of God is cruel...it's because we are cruel...it is a reflection of our own selves.
So now you want to talk about the God of the old testament?
I mean when eastern religions have Jainism and Buddhism and Taoism....what the fuck even is gnosticism in comparison?

Furthermore each time I've talked about this stuff with your kind you have ignored me then gone on repeat..you are a shit poster.

As far as the OPs particular flavour of gnosticism is concerned, I believe it is also known as "Iknowbetterthanyouness" ;-)

On what bases can you "judge" God, the creator of everything. How do you even define what's good and evil without God?

If you are that much worried about it, I would find out now rather than later at the judgment. Many can quote Scripture to answer your questions, but knowing Scripture does not save a man. The TRUTH is there, but people can not find it for the same reason a thief can not find the Police.....Not looking for it. Don't let the visible church fool you by their ungodly and false representation of Christ. If Richard Hawkins is you foundation of truth, know this; He that is overcome by man's knowledge is a bond servant to man, just as those who are called of God become freed servants from the bondage of men. Men are born morally corrupt. Without God, chaos would ensue, as we are beginning to see since Obama started to erase God from the Americas. I'm not talking about the Catholic church and others that are corrupt and false witnesses. I'm talking about born again believers who are being persecuted. The visible and TV churches are not of Christ. But you will see God, one way or another, and you can argue your points with Him..

Neither, but one thing you are correct about Bishop is it is time to drop the superstition.

“The first example in the book of Acts is the assembly which gathered together in Jerusalem to decide the question which had arisen, whether to baptize or not the uncircumcised and those who had eaten of food sacrificed to idols.

The very fact of this question being raised showed that those who discussed it did not understand the teaching of Christ, who rejected all outward observances--ablutions, purifications, fasts, and sabbaths. It was plainly said, "Not that which goeth into a man's mouth, but that which cometh out of a man's mouth, defileth him," and therefore the question of baptizing the uncircumcised could only have arisen among men who, though they loved their Master and dimly felt the grandeur of his teaching, still did not understand the teaching itself very clearly. And this was the fact.

Just in proportion to the failure of the members of the assembly to understand the doctrine was their need of external confirmation of their incomplete interpretation of it. And then to settle this question, the very asking of which proved their misunderstanding of the doctrine, there was uttered in this assembly, as is described in the Acts, that strange phrase, which was for the first time found necessary to give external confirmation to certain assertions, and which has been productive of so much evil.

That is, it was asserted that the correctness of what they had decided was guaranteed by the miraculous participation of the Holy Ghost, that is, of God, in their decision. But the assertion that the Holy Ghost, that is, God, spoke through the Apostles, in its turn wanted proof. And thus it was necessary, to confirm this, that the Holy Ghost should descend at Pentecost in tongues of fire upon those who made this assertion. (In the account of it, the descent of the Holy Ghost precedes the assembly, but the book of Acts was written much later than both events.) But the descent of the Holy Ghost too had to be proved for those who had not seen the tongues of fire (though it is not easy to understand why a tongue of fire burning above a man's head should prove that what that man is going to say will be infallibly the truth). And so arose the necessity for still more miracles and changes, raisings of the dead to life, and strikings of the living dead, and all those marvels which have been a stumbling-block to men, of which the Acts is full, and which, far from ever convincing one of the truth of the Christian doctrine, can only repel men from it. The result of such a means of confirming the truth was that the more these confirmations of truth by tales of miracles were heaped up one after another, the more the doctrine was distorted from its original meaning, aid the more incomprehensible it became.”

But if taken as a literal being than yes Yahweh is purely evil.

Fortunately that “God” doesn’t exist, if it did it wouldn’t be worthy of worship anyway.

Because you don’t say it’s righteous to bash babies against rocks, even if it’s an enemy, unless you are one evil son of a bitch.

And just a thought here GCB, maybe that kind of putridity didn’t really come from God but from men?

Born again believers do not judge God...God judges men. You must think that man can live as evil as he wants to and God has no right to judge the evil intents of men who's thoughts are continually evil in his heart. You can argue your points at the judgment....but they have no foundation in righteousness.....Look in the mirror at yourself and say there is no God and see what happens to your soul...Do not look at your image, but look face to face!

Have you actually read the bible all the way through?
