It's been a while since I was on this thread. I don't think anyone remembers me lol, but I was reading a netizen buzz article about Bighit gathering IT employees and positioning itself to be a company that incorporates a lot of IT stuff. Some people were interpreting it as them veering into becoming solely IT-focused though to keep their corporate heads happy because they sure as hell won't be able to maintain the growth that BTS gave them once BTS enlists or if they don't renew. TXT isn't a flop by any means, but they aren't as popular as BTS and aren't likely to be. BTS was a bit of an anomaly in terms of popularity for K-pop in the West, they've kind of eaten up all the possible market share and K-pop really can't get more popular than this in the West unless the general public suddenly starts stanning Jungkook or something, which they won't, so this is the peak. I think Bighit is in for a massive correction event after BTS. They can't stay this profitable without BTS so they'll coast on profits and speculation based off past glory for a few years post-BTS, then they'll decline, then plateau to their new normal to reflect the profitability of their actual current talent like TXT and the new girl group they'll be having soon.
I also read a few pages back. I see things haven't gotten any better with Taehyung. I really think that if nothing happens to him, he'll be the first to leave. Even if he's not being mistreated, I don't think he is mentally handling the challenges of fame very well. If we disregard his insistence that his change in personality was "just growing up" and realize it as a prolonged depressed mood caused by episodes of depression (and we can kind of assume that given the way he's been acting with random outbursts of crying) and pair that with him complaining about how people don't see him as Taehyung, only as V, I think we can, without seeming like we're assuming based on blind faith, kind of agree that he does not seem to like fame. I've said it before but if Tae leaves or something happens to him or BTS as a whole I feel like the floodgates will kind of open and any news company or sasaeng that has a vendetta against Bighit will end up releasing what they have.
