J-Hope Ego Analysis
I think some people already talked about some part of this mv and the lyrical analysis but I thought I’d show you what I thought... I hadn’t heard the song until yesterday where I was curious as to what symbols they’d put in because Ego is part of Jung’s psychology thesis and I was so disgusted at this song. The manipulation of Bighit is so bad. Anyways I hope you find this analysis interesting.
Imagery within the MV
So the mv starts all the other BTS mvs coming into view which shows again this is a whole storyline that is running through each comeback and each album and everything is connected in some way. We see J-Hope looking at the camera with a smile whilst glitching. He smiles towards the camera once the glitching is complete indicating that this jolly happy Hobi is a persona which has been manufactured by Bighit. He is wearing white and there is a white background symbolising hospitals and mind control... similar to him and Jimin in the coming of age storyline wearing white clothing.

J-Hope in HYYH
Then we see J-Hope walking on a street similar to I need you and again like I need you he falls and hits his head. In the storyline this is not answered as to why he fell (I think it was because of the pill overdose) but here it can be him being tired of the programming that is being done to him or breaking out of the programmin. So as you can see again showing this is all linked to the original storyline

I’d like to mention here that this looks very disassociative with the bright colours. Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland

Then we see J-Hope going to a hospital again indicating programming of some sort. Remember Ego is one of the states of the persona theory. So is shadow. (I’ll talk about this more later when I discuss Jung and MOTS)
Ok so now he’s dancing in front of the moon which indicates the full moon where a lot of sacrifices and ritual occur specifically on these nights...This is basically showing affiliation with these rituals

Then he poses like his childhood self with a purple background... purple as we know represents magic spells etc and it’s like him posing like his child like self is showing that this jhope persona takes the trauma or the life of his young self and incorporates into this happy, bubbly Hobi.

This again links to the storyline with the birthday cake and his mum leaving him on his birthday.. if this was all a a storyline why is it that they are using actual pictures of him as a child and incorporating the cake and what he wore into this... it’s very strange... I already talked about my theory involving Jhope being sold and the cake and food symbolism always surrounding him is a bit weird ... check out that post for more.
Then we see him in a room which looks very occultic with the purple again symbolising spells and magic. There are candles and he’s doing the hand sign. Very occultic... it seems like he is paying his respects to Satan. This is the room where his child photo flashes making me think he’s been having spells or demons put in him from a young age.

There was more symbolism like the maze in young forever again showing their paths are intertwined, they are trapped and trying to find a way etc. But that is self explanatory.
This post is already too long so lyrical analysis in the next post
