Right. I believe it was a crowd control issue and some people were not using common courtesy for each other safety. ImoEven in my country, people in downtown are celebrating Halloween parties like it's normal and just "have fun..."

Large crowds going crazy and causing crushes or riots, in my opinion has always been due to three things: Extreme stupidity, drugs, and alcohol.

It happens during Hajj too. That many people in one place is dangerous. The crowd has to continue in the same direction and it's difficult to get out of a large crowd. When the crowd is spooked, smaller people will be crushed or ran over. Large events need more than one way in and out of the venue. There has to be security and crowd control. We're a herding species and people follow the person in front of them, even if it's dangerous. That's human instinct.

Completely avoidable. People could have gathered peacefully and had a good time. Nobody had to be stupid like that. I still can't get over the people who were dancing around while other people were laying in the street.
