Very interesting, I’m going to look into this more but I could see the US using Colombia and Brazil to do our dirty work in Venezuela. I seem to remember it leaking from the White House earlier in the term, that Trump considered military options in Venezuela. This is a very 80s strategy.

Things are pretty tense right now though

May I ask.. I dont know anything about Brazil except for its gangcrime and drugproblems. I've seen some pretty nasty videos on the crime, videos I'll never get out of my head. It's said to be the most violent country in the world, making the middle east look sweet. How did it get to this?
Lots and lots and LOTS of Western intervention.... along with its own history of racial slavery and slave labor. Cook that together with hand-chosen sell-outs who will ice their own countrymen, women and children just to keep their personal tap turned on by the Western powers whom are Brazils "leaders" actual masters and presto.... instant and lasting corruption.

OH BOY. Now i'll have some fun! I see that there aren't many brazilians here besides me, otherwise they would surely be here already. I'll take my time and read every post and see every source so far, it will take a while and i'll do it after I get back from work.

But so far it seems you guys have no idea of how things are bad here right now.

I'll drop this small video here for now, check it out, it's just 22 seconds long. This was an "art" performance that was sponsored using public funds. Things only go downhill from there.

It also seems you guys don't know he was stabbed in the chest by a ex-filliate from PSOL (Partido Socialista, Socialist Party), Adélio Bispo, and then the 4 most famous and expensive laywers came to his aid and refused to tell who was paying them.

Bolsonaro is far from a fascist, but here in Brazil right now being patriotic is forbidden. Just imagine that waving the US flag would warrant you being called a Nazi, Fascist and everything else

It’s too bad his attacker missed the aorta. What do you call a guy who openly praises the dictatorship, calls for civil war and wants the cops to have carte blanche to murder? Not to mention the only reason he won is because Lula is a political prisoner.

Just in case anyone wants to be edgy and support him, here he is telling a woman she isn’t worthy of being raped

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/time/3630922/brazil-politics-congresswoman-r*pe-comments
MAAAN, this woman is Maria do Rosario. I'll tell you the context of this thing.
This was way back after case wherein a couple, Liana FriedenBach and her boyfriend Felipe Caffé, were kidnapped by Champinha and his gang. Champinha and the others raped liana 7 days straight and then slit her throat in front of his boyfriend, then killed him. Champinha got a REEEEEALLY light condemnation because he was a minor. Unlike the US minors don't answer for their crimes here.

The debate was either the major legal age should be 18 or 16, champinha's age. Maria do Rosario was actually PROTECTING champinha and called bonoro a rapist (because you know, all men are rapists) then he said "If i'm a rapist, then I won't r*pe you because you don't deserve it"

It's in portuguese but you i belive you can autotranslate this, it's the summary of the case so you may develop your own conclusions

Ok. In the US a policeman can shot and kill a criminal and he'll be praised. Here if a criminal invade a brazilian residence and you shoot him YOU WILL BE ARRESTED.

again, i hope you may translate it

Umm no

There was a coup several years back that illegitimately removed the President from power

https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2016/04/18/in-brazil-a-house-cleaning-or-a-coup/the-ousting-of-brazilian-president-dilma-rousseff-constitutes-a-coup

And then Lula was imprisoned on bogus charges and was unable to run and probably would have won

Ok, now we come to lula and dilma. First of all, lula is no way a political prisoner, he's a white collar criminal. I'm sure you havent heard about the "Operação Lava Jato" and the Odebrecht Scandal that spans 13 countries.

Calling them "bogus charges" is like telling al capone was just a guy who didn't paid his taxes

Perhaps but this just isn't backlash, none of this would have been possible without the coup two years ago and with Lula being imprisoned. It's not just organic pushback to "socialism". I really think you are underestimating the severity of this situation.

"
It will only change, unfortunately, when, one day, we start a civil war here and do the work that the military regime did not do. Killing some 30,000, starting with FHC [then-president Fernando Henrique Cardoso], not kicking them out, killing! If some innocent people are going to die, fine, in any war innocents die.”
Oh, we are into FHC now.

Fair enough point, but fascists are in control of that technology.
NOPE. It was the ex government guys with stuff like "Agencia Lupa" who were sniffing stories and telling US what was fake and what was truth. this was what happening, an government sponsored agency telling us what to belive.

whatsapp and 14 years of bad choices was what defined this election
