Some ridiculous notions here, sure, there was alot of corruption but what do you think religions of africans have been? voodoo, santeria, withcraft, they would literally sacrifice there own children, and this is still going on now.I think its very easy for you to just dismiss what black people have gone through if you think they can just "let him be their saviour" after his image was used to enslave them for hundreds of years, and after so much injustice was done, with the backing of the church in many instances, and much of the Christian church today still supports the destruction of black people. Sorry but its not that simple. Its easy to see why many blacks can turn against Christianity as a "white man's poison" and frankly I'm surprised that more blacks do not embrace this type of thinking. What good has the church done for black people, or for anybody for that matter ? The original missionaires who went into AFrica to "gain converts" were really intelligence assets used to spy on the population and survey the territories their nations were about to conquer. The vast majority of churches went along with colonization and slavery, a good deal of churches supported segregation and Jim Crow, and may churches today support the right wing agenda of keeping the poor poor and tax breaks for the ultra wealthy, so please tell me why a black person should embrace an institution with this legacy ?
What many call "Christianity" is generally anything but, and usually it is an affront to GOD.
The tragedy is that many people black and white get turned off from the Bible because of the horrific and disgusting history of many of the people who claimed to be acting according to the "wiil of God"
but there is plenty of truth in the bible, if you know how to interpret it, and not be mislead by Charlatans.
2 wrongs dont make a right, and people not representing christ dont speak for all christians, this is exactly the same roman catholic argument. if a black person doesnt want to truly look for christ rather than the worldly christians that are setting up on earth thats still on them.
