You are not the first to point out the original VC has been replaced.... is just the method of writing it's just so different, and the recent article seems so personal with so many details about his personal experience seems a bit out of character from the OG VC
It might be the real VC but he fried his brain with how the internet is these days. Maybe he took up twitter or something. Maybe it's a different person, who knows.
It wouldn't be the first blogger type person I liked 10 years ago give themselves psychic damage from being terminally online to the point of being unrecognizable :(

It was just so shallow, and sounds like a rant you could get from any angry conservative guy who has been steeped in pointless gender war arguments online

The VC I remember, is aware of occult symbolism and dissociative mind control themes, which I know this movie has. To not even do a quick mention or speculation of some of these elements is just weird.

The gender wars stuff is just the layer of paint on top of this movie

btw, several men I know enjoyed the Ken subplot, and specifically like how Ken decides to be his own person and no longer try to impress the "perfect" woman, and have too much ego invested in having "the girl". It reminds them of how they wasted some of their younger years trying to get their dream girlfriend, instead of focusing on becoming the man they are supposed to be, so they found that part to be a good message.

plastic entertainment to fool the masses whoopdefuckingdo. is this all they could come up with? how much more are they going to shove out into society before they pull the plug on all their boringly dreadful ideas that have already been done before?

When I watch television, I stick to the "old folks" channels; so I don't see commercials devoted to Barbie, but I have noticed that OTHER commercials seem to go out of their way to incorporate the Barbie theme (e.g., pink "things" in the background, the Candy Crush Barbie, the Geico Barbie theme). Those are the few that I've noticed. This is not surprising to me; I've noticed the same approach in the past, with (for example) Star Trek becoming a widespread "theme" when a new ST movie came out; or Indiana Jones, or Star Wars, or GI Joe, or what have you. I was once associated with a young lady who majored in Marketing and Advertising in university; she explained it all to me, but I did not pay much attention to her lofty explanations. Suffice to say that I see no nefarious intent; only the blatant greed that is exhibited in order to part you from your dollars.
stick to the originals because anything after that was just a money laundering method

most of the time when they do second third and fourth movies or series it has less impact so the original one is usually the better one

also by the time they have got to the 5,6,7 movie or series they have run out of ideas so most of the ones they have already done many a times

plus is anyone actually going to the cinema? not much at all
