Revelation 18 "After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, 'Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.'

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, 'Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, "I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow." 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her."

Who is Babylon the Great destined for destruction in just one day ?

Perhaps we could do a round up of possible contenders (as well as allowing that the ultimate "version" may not fully be on the world scene?)

Any discussion of this kind is well prefaced by some very incisive observations C.S Lewis made in "The Pilgrims Regress" on not being sure, and that being fine...

[John]: 'But I must think it is one or the other.'
[Reason]: 'By my father's soul, you must not - until you have some evidence. Can you not remain in doubt?'
[John]: 'I don't know that I have ever tried.'
[Reason]: 'You must learn to, if you are to come far with me. It is not hard to do it. In Eschropolis, indeed, it is impossible, for the people who live there have to give an opinion once a week or once a day, or else Mr. Mammon would soon cut off their food. But out here in the country you can walk all day and all the next day with an unanswered question in your head: you need never speak until you have made up your mind.
C.S. Lewis, The Pilgrim's Regress

Ok...

Can I say from the outset that I have not made my mind up, and perhaps also that there may be a number of "contenders", one of which will step forward and make itself clear. I am aware of a number of perspectives from people I like and respect and each at this point has for me merits and doubts...

So - idea number 1 (quite popular right now!)

Idea number 2. Babylons isn't city ,country or geographical location. It's rebellion against God which started in Babylon and continues to this day...

Given its links to international commerce, that the merchants look upon and mourn its falling, Babylon the Great seems associated with international finance and (not meaning to lead the witness here, your honor) a World Trade Center, a center of world trade.

Mystery Babylon, unless this one has to be excluded because of its obviousness, seems, quite possibly, the guarded, esoteric rites and rituals practiced by some of the progeny of those who wrote and compiled their famous body of literature called the Talmud there, in Babylon (and, to a lesser extent, Palestine). Those practices, not necessarily restricted to one nation or tribe, could be internationalized in the form of a worldwide secret society along the lines of Freemasonry and other orders.

Hmm.. interesting idea.

I've always leaned toward the Vatican but who knows-- this is certainly a viable option.

Jeremiah 2 and 3
Zechariah 5

Pay attention you guys.
Read Habakkuk 2
read about th chaldeans and how they gained power over babylon.

Usury first and foremost but it also tells us things like how they make their neighbour DRUNK so they can look at them naked.

pay special attention to the trees/wood, mountains/stones theme here.

What is it God was telling the jews? He called them a whore/adulteress who was cheating on God with idols of stone and wood.
But in Zech 5 these themes go further in connecting with Babylon/the chaldeans, ie the usury connection is there in Zech 5 literally, God's curse is on the money lender and the one who makes false oaths. This is a curse that goes out on ALL the land.

this is similar to Habbauk 2, in Jeremiah 2 it says

26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets; 27 who say to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast [k]brought [l]me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us. 28 But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

now going to Revelation 17 18. This same adulteress/wicked woman,. rules over the world. The world is aDRUNK (remember habbakuk 2) on the wine of her ADULTERIES. The worlds kings submit to her. The wealth of the world is in her hands.

political power, wealth and control of global culture..

and some think it's the vatican lmao.

google/youtube is jewish.
the banking system, is jewish, shit even paypal was founded by a jew
hollywood, jewish
tv, jewish
music, jewish
or yeh, pornography, jewish.

so how does this system get destroyed? Revelation 17/18 tells us it's the anti-christ himself who destroys her...
that's kind of odd, since Zecheriah 11 is proof the antichrist is jewish....but he betrays his own nation.

kind of makes me think of decentralised/blockchain technology, this mysterious satoshi nakamoto.

ps this was the funniest ico/ad i seen in a long time.
although it is all a joke, it is still creepy.

It could be being run by both, working together in concert. As I see it, the rites of Freemasonry, at least the lower degrees of Scottish Rite, are predicated upon the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple (a goal of many in Israel), and many forms of esoteric Kabbalah require knowledge of Hebrew in order to advance in their complex systems of correspondences, calculus, gematria, numerology, etc.

That is just the Scottish Rite. There is also the York rite which is made of 13 degrees and is along the lines of how the Templars were organized. The bottom line is that only freemasonry has the secretive network enabling conspiracies to be organized without outside scrutiny.

I understand. Freemasonry is a broad, inclusive category. I suspect, and only a suspicion it is, because we are dealing with "mysteries," after all, that there are active Kabbalistic societies, such as so called "irregular" and splinter Masonic bodies, at work. Weishaupt's Illuminati itself, it is said, sought to infiltrate and coopt Freemasonry at the upper levels, and I think probably succeeded.

Again, when I, with only an outside, academic interest, occasionally inoculate myself by strapping on latex gloves and a face-mask to inquire into various systems of magic, including those of the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley, I notice that the "sephirothal tree" and complex system of correspondences they present, along with various rites and rituals, are based upon at least an elementary knowledge of Hebrew. To me, that indicates their probable source and origin.

My understanding is that the Kabbalah was something that Jews inherited from their time living in Babylon - and is not considered "kosher" (by all Jews)

It's a complicated subject, but my admittedly superficial research indicates that opinions, naturally, vary within the Jewish community. Heinrich Graetz, for instance, and as I recall, disavowed the thing, claiming it was pagan, or Hellenic in origin (but he was largely a Jewish rationalist historian, with a potential bias). On the other hand, Kabbalah seems to be an inspiring source among the Hasidim to this day. I think it might reduce to this: in the Kabbalah, as in magic, there seems to be a so called "left" and "right" hand path, or route, and though they are essentially the same system, one is considered a corruption, an unacceptable inversion of the other, when they are not perceived as coordinated, working together in harmony.

It's also an interesting subject. I notice, both in this thread and in others, that you have researched the matter in some detail, and I appreciate being able to converse and share notes. Thank you.

Yes it is a complicated subject. The Kabbalah is essentially Judaic Gnosticism, which like its Christian equivalent is not accepted universally by the followers of the more "orthodox" versions of the religion. I just know that Freemasonry loves this kind of stuff and they use it to gain political power. It is truly the Whore who has gotten drunk from the blood of nations and spread its sorcery around. The US is the main country being used for this, and the masonic layout of Washington DC around the White House is no coincidence.

But doesn't the Rosslyn Chapel have connections to the Jewish Temple via the Knights Templar?

All I know is that the Templars tried to claim Jerusalem as their HQ, and they were a Catholic Order. They supposedly protect the "Jewish" bloodline of Jesus, which is claimed by various monarchies such as the British. To me it's bull though, and was only an attempt at justifying taking control of Jewish locations in the name of the Pope.

Do you accept that the Knights Templar became generally apostates from Catholicism?

Babylon the great reigns over the kings of the earth.

It is a city close by the sea which is mass importing goods while exporting her culture throughout the world.

More can be read about Babylon in Jeremiah 50-51.
