There are many concerning articles in the New Zealand and Australia media about establishing quarantine facilities. Kind of makes you wonder what such a facility would look like. Staying in a hotel for 2 weeks is not the end of the world but I can't imagine a "quarantine facility" beinga very pleasant place to stay at.
"He also suggested Government drop the use of isolation hotels, and “seriously study” the idea of purpose-built quarantine facilities in places like Ōhakea Airbase, he said"
I also find it fishy that both countries are calling for the same measures at the same time. And yeah, it just so happened that there were hotel outbreaks in both countries this week. Not trying to be conspiratorial but yeah seems dodgy to me.

Call to drop isolation hotels after flurry of Covid cases, rubbish bin spread virus
A returnee in managed isolation picked up the virus at a Christchurch hotel, then spread it during a flight to Auckland.
