A gamechanging event may be in works, something several times worse than 9/11, and they're preparing to suppress information while people are distracted.

"The revocation of a provision in a 1996 law regarding the internet is one of the few things to bring President Donald Trump and likely Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to a consensus, but only slightly.

Both politicians have called for Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 to be revoked; Trump in recent days has called for it to be revoked, and Biden said so earlier this year.

But, the two disagree on why it should be revoked.

Section 230 has been called the most important law for the internet. It provides "interactive computer services" like Facebook and Twitter the ability to moderate content on their platforms that is violent, harassing, "or otherwise objectionable," without the platforms illegally infringing on people's First Amendment right to free speech.

The law also includes a provision that bars sites like Twitter and Facebook from being held liable as publishers for the content posted on their platforms. While a newspaper would be held liable for false information produced and published by them, websites are treated merely as the medium and are not responsible for the content posted on their platforms."

What would happen, if someone on this forum for example would post something libelous VC could be sued for libel. Major platforms would be hit with countless lawsuits.

There is an event coming.... I think, that will cause utter chaos. The internet systems will go down. And nobodies crimes of this event when the chaos erupts will anybody be able to expose, leading to lawlessness.

They'd have to allow me to post thousands of gay porn videos if I wanted to, twitter would have to allow me to reply to Trump's tweets with gay porn videos, facebook would have to allow me to reply to people's posts with gay porn videos. They obviously can't take the no moderation approach.

Incidentally I'm not on Facebook and Twitter or any other such site because I've never felt the need, so if they were closed down, why should I care?
I hang mostly in assorted forums where the general IQ is higher than social media.. :)

Because the general population is there and they'd be left in the dark. If there's a false flag, info won't be able to circulate.

But plenty of truth forums like VC circulate info just fine.
From what i've seen of FB and Twitt, they're all jabbering at once like an insane asylum..:)

I agree entirely about social media.
It is very weird and I don't like it.

It is the voice of the machine.

What I mean is that info won't reach them, they won't be able to find forums like VC since google search manipulates results, they'll depend on mainstream news sources.

There is no doubt you are right. In an attempt to stop the censorship of big tech. platforms, we will get even more censorship if the Section 230 protections are lifted for everyone. This is a tool that will be twisted by the "opposition" party.

I first got on the internet in 2002 aged 53, and before that I managed just fine without the internet by communicating with people who had the same interests as me via handwritten letters and phone calls, and we all read the same hobby magazines which had readers letters discussion pages.
My brother-in-law even had a CB (Citizens Band) radio to talk to plenty of other CB-ers.
My point is that although the net is very useful, we'd still be able to communicate without it..:)
