There is no way on earth or in heaven I would watch A Serbian Film. Just reading a description of it made me feel sick.
I let my curiosity get the best of me, and watched a review of it that showed several parts of the film. It was beyond disturbing, and it’s not easy to make me feel that way; I’ve seen a lot of demented stuff over my years on Earth...This film is EXTREMELY F-ED up and sickening. Nasty!!

Not me, although my wimpy adult sister and niece have never dared watch 'The Exorcist', but personally I regard it as a comedy and laugh all the way through it .
My Auntie Ivy was chicken too, my mother (her sister) told me that when they went to watch 'Nosferatu the Vampire' as teenagers in the 1930's, Ivy was so traumatised that her mother had to sleep in a chair next to her bed all night because she kept waking up screaming..:D
However I do confess to the odd chill running up my spine if I watch a well-written intelligent horror film or show, but they're very thin on the ground. Here's a clip from one such film (The Stone Tape)-

I can’t watch the Exorcist as I unfortunately saw it as a 10 year old and it left me traumatized. I do however appreciate good horror films like The Omen (love the scene at the zoo), Rosemarys Baby, the Shining, Alien is a masterpiece I think - but yeah they are creepy. That being said, I don’t generally watch any horror these days because I don’t think it’s good for me and I also find I get sorta pulled into darkness by them - so I just don’t think it’s good for me.

Another film I like is "Solaris", it's sci-fi but has got horror in it, for example Clooney's wife died a few years ago but in this scene she (or an alien replica) comes back to him-

Not scared of any horror movies, do nothing for me. I do loathe torture porn though, it's just the worst of human nature and should not be glorified by making movies of it.

Its one thing to watch the neverending story and another to watch things like this :View attachment 982
One of the primary ways people are attacked and manipulated is through their imagination. Take the idea of an exorcism - the spiritual “powers that be” have the lonely figure of a priest equipped with spiritual trinkets facing evil beyond his power or imagination.

Contrast that with the almost sporting like victory the disciples report at their victory over the demonic:-

Luke 10

The Seventy Return with Joy
17Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

18And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Take care of your imagination and it will take care of you!

BTW the Exorcist has got some good bits in it, like in the scene below where the demon in the girl begins speaking through her mouth in the priests dead mother's voice to make him feel guilty at not visiting his mother enough when she was dying in hospital.
However he's clever enough to know it's the demon who's speaking and not his mother, so he says "You're not my mother!".
it's a good example of how Satan can read our minds to pick up things in our memory that he can inflame to try to use against us-

Regarding The VVitch
True story: Myself and two other guys (Mike and Chase, we'll call them) on a work crew were renovating a house in Key West. We set up a tv, playstation, milk crates and stuff in one room that was semi-finished to chill when work was over for the day. Chase rented this from redbox one night and we all watched it. That night Chase and I both had similar nightmares about sleep paralysis in a weird cabin, demons chasing us. All kinds of effed up stuff. We both woke up covered in sweat and shaking. (Everyone crashed in different areas of the house that night) I went to make a cup of coffee and Chase in a few minutes after looking really pale and scared saying he was returning the movie because he didn't want it in the house. We talked about our similar dreams and were both equally disturbed. Mike didn't have any weird dreams, oddly enough, and slept fine.

It was honestly a good movie, cinematically, but I'll never watch it again because of that experience.

Edit: I saw bathtub lady scene in The Shining accidentally while flipping channels as a kid and it gave me bad dreams too.

2nd edit: Chase and I both believe in a higher power/God/other dimensions/magic/the occult and sometimes discussed spiritual stuff while working and Mike was an agnostic who got annoyed when we talked about that sort of stuff.
