Anyway, prepping is not about what most people are likely to do, but it is about what one person can do regardless.

Now taking into consideration that after the first few days of a collapse it will suddenly dawn on the unprepared that they are in trouble, part of prepping is how you protect yourself and your supplies. Those who think that raiding is an option will face some unified and deadly defenses on the part of the preppers. Looters generally fail to take that into consideration just as they failed to consider prepping in the first place.

Aero, I don't think you are being realistic. Abandoned food will disappear quickly. Trading your gun for food means you won't have the means of bringing down a deer or even a pigeon after you've eaten the food you got in the trade.
Well it depends. If we are talking nuclear explosions than there will be wide areas of stuff to loot where the fireball didn't scorch, but the shock wave killed all the people. And I think a lot of people will automatically go to the supermarkets and 7elevens and loot those first.

Of course my Plan A is to be prepared though.

Exactly so the best planning might involve having a bag of mobile supplies you carry all the time. Actually it's probably a good idea to have a mobile plan along with your turtle strategy. Maybe focus on stocking up on goods that are lightweight, but still carry a good amount of calories.

Plus think about plumbing. Those sewers require maintenance. You can't just be holed up in a house living in poop.

I just don't think you can plan for it all...so your alive but what will you do? And if you live in a city that might be a scary thing for people?

As Christians we can rely on faith while using the common sense God gave is.

As far as travel is concerned, if you live far enough from work that you might be stranded of you couldn't get home, a plan B might include having a discrete bug-out lot in your locker. But in these times of increasingly weird forms of workplace paranoia that might not be possible.

Personally, I think there's a higher likelihood that most civic emergencies would give you time to get home. Bug-out plans should include a prepacked out that either remains in your vehicle or is handy. ( when storing even the best-packed provisions in a car for long periods of time, remember how hot a parked car can get! You may want to test a small amount of emergency storage before sticking a whole bin in the trunk.)

Homes should have some kind of possible alternative to plumbing. It all depends on your situation and how intrusive local codes can be. In some places you could have an old-fashion composting toilet somewhere outside, but lots of cities would freak out. I guarantee that at least one neighbor would call in a complaint if they found out that wasn't just a garden shed out by your backyard fence.

Apartments pose a whole different set of problems. Depending on how intrusive building management is, you could keep a camper chemical toilet stashed. There are some pretty small ones. But would that be practical for a long time? Who knows.

Most city emergencies due to storms or damage caused by rioters would be resolved in no more than a week or two, but in the aftermath of a truly disastrous collapse, you'd have to have something sustainable.

You probably should pay attention to the actual volume of waste your household produces and research the alternative methods of disposal you'd have to be prepared to set up.

You cannot plan for it all....You have to look at whats more likely to happen...Earthquakes, Super Volcanoes, Tsunamis etc....Prepare the old BoB (Bug Out Bag)...Have an alternative route to get out quickly and have a place to go once you leave. All that said a natural disaster or things like a CME or EMP or more likely to happen than an extinction event where the human race is wiped out completely. Prepping is a continual what if process and there are three things to concern yourself with food, water and shelter first...

But we want to plan for it all don't we. I just read about the NRA convention and people were talking about needing more guns. And these weren't people who owned 2 guns. They owned like 14 already. I'll bet people like that will run out of bullets first.

You can't....Figure out what your immediate threats will be and prepare for those....Anything after that is just icing on the cake....

If you are still around when the apocalypse is happening, does that not mean god has left you behind?

There is no point in prepping for disaster, we are but a second on this planet.

Apocalypse is a complete destruction of the World at least according to the Bibles book of Revelation....No where else is the word mentioned in the book except for there. In Greek it literally means "an uncovering".....

To your first point...If it is as they say complete world destruction then you won't have to worry about any supernatural being supposedly leaving people behind there won't be anybody to pick up!

As to your second point, A post apocalyptic world will not be the world as you know it. What were once your friends become your enemies...Just depends on the "Doomers" you talk to...But this Apocalyptic crap has been going on since way back take a look at the link below:

Is that so? You don't even know where you might be when things go south...you can have a bug out bag..but if you don't own property, where will you go? If things go south then life won't be anywhere near where you know it, how will you live after you survive? We just don't know those answers do we, because it's all hypothetical right now.

She has a point...And I will say that it does not matter weather your Christian, Muslim or Jew religion is not going to change the end game. If you sit around and wait on a supernatural being to supply what you need you will die.

I left the Rapture question out because we all know about that controversy. It is actually irrelevant if you are pre-post-or-whatever in your timeline because you don't need a whole Tribulation or an extinction-level event to face annihilation at the local level.

Just think about what is going on now in the valley beneath the Oroville Dam or in ISIS-grabbed villages in the Middle East.

Last December some political idiots took down my city's water supply for four days. There are other cities all over the USA nervously evaluating their own water systems. Political extremists in the USA destroy whole communities like Ferguson about once every ten years. And then of course, there's Tornado Alley, the hurricane and earthquake-prone region's.

Not to mention that simply losing your job or getting into a tragic accident can bring a mini-Apocolypse into your life.

As a Christian, I view prepping as something like what Moses told the Israelites to do: be standing and ready when Passover happens.

Jesus also told the parable of the virgins and the oil lamps as well as gave us instructions to wash each other's feet.

I take all that to mean that while we rely on God we also do whatever we can to lighten the burden on everyone else. First by not being a burden and second by being ready to help.

The Rapture will happen when it happens regardless of what anyone is doing at that moment.

Christians have been spouting this Armageddon/Apocalypse stuff for thousands of years and we are still here.....You know if anything does happen its going to start in the Middle East before it starts anywhere else...Apocalypse is not a Rapture. All that said how do you see a post apocalyptic world without all the religion involved?

O...I don't know about that...waiting on God will probably be what saves you.
