I take no precautions because I have nothing to hide, nor am I a threat to military complex, nor the other billion dollar lucrative industries that are slowly turning people into zombies, mentally. Plus, if I did take precautions, I would be smart enough to not mention them on the internet as someone somewhere will find a way to seal that loop-hole. But what i do, is not watch T.V, and be on my phone every minute. I try keep conversations off the phone, and have honest and real conversations in person.

So, there is no doubt our smart devices can feed the data base, but I didn't see this kind of thing coming. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2017/03/13/smart-vibrator-maker-settles-suit-from-outraged-users.html

What precautions if any do you take with more mainstream smart devices like phones, tablets, TV etc
I'm surprised there was no mention of the latest Wikileaks dump:

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2017/mar/07/wikileaks-publishes-biggest-ever-leak-of-secret-cia-documents-hacking-surveillance
The revelations in the documents include:
  • CIA hackers targeted smartphones and computers.
  • The Center for Cyber Intelligence, based at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, has a second covert base in the US consulate in Frankfurt which covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
  • A programme called Weeping Angel describes how to attack a Samsung F8000 TV set so that it appears to be off but can still be used for monitoring.

It's truly insane people are accepting the all-pervasive surveillance state. Spying sex toys? Well, of course! Sure, people are being herded into accepting it by fake terrorist attacks, but still. These reports of even freaking consumer products like TVs spying on you in your home should cause people to react and realize just where this is headed. If people clued in to the fact agencies probably spend much more time spying on them than foreign nations, by learning a bit more about these 'conspiracy theories', things would change quickly. Some of VC's articles about the massive surveillance programs are utterly disturbing.
