Put aside what you think about Alex Jones, for by YouTube banning his channel today, war has been declared on alternative media and conspiracy sites. This has been coming and despite his blowhard ways, Jones was harmless. The real issue here is free speech and thought is under attack and sites like this could be next. This will be a far-reaching attempt o shut down conspiracy theories and it will dominate the news. Facebook scrubbed him at the witching hour of 3 A,M.

  • Apple confirmed on Monday that it had removed five out of six podcasts, which includes Jones' infamous The Alex Jones Show.
  • Facebook has also removed four pages that belong to Jones.
  • YouTube followed suit later, removing his channel from its platform.
  • Apple and Facebook said Jones violated hate speech policies on their respective platforms.
  • YouTube removed Jones' official channel because he continued to livestream on other channels even though he was banned for 90 days due to previous violations.

For Alex Jones, it doesn't matter. He can host his own videos or go to another streaming service that wouldn't care as much. There was another YouTube channel on guns, that had constant problems with demonetization, so they dude that ran in moved it to Pornhub, of all places.

Mind you, this is bad for a lot of people; for other YouTube conspiracy folks, for the left-wing YouTubers that use the platform to critique the capitalism that created it (most of which aren't allowed to make money on their videos since advertises don't like people telling you that the consumer culture is bad), or various other channels that struggle on the platform because $$$.

YouTube's issues existed long before Alex Jones got removed. It's not saying its an acceptable thing, mind you... I'm just saying it's something that folks should have been concerned about long before him.

Nope it has NOTHING to do with free speech. These corporations offer a service and you have to follow their guidelines or you are shown the door. Jones has been inciting violence against liberals and insulted gay and transgender people using rather unkind words. He simply violated their hate speech rules.

No Alex, it is not a conspiracy against you. You are just a liar, an asshole and an agent provocateur. Good riddance.

It is not about Jones to me but the mainstreams media to force feed you its narrative. The tech companies are already adhering to censorship in China. Evreybody has a right to a voice.

You are so over the top leftist and closed minded. Those who see things in political ways are already defeated. So, you are pro-corporation? LMAO. Why was Jones shown the door just now? Why did all the companies squelch him on the very same day? Are you not aware of agendas or d you see free speech as an issue? What will you say when this site folds if it strays from the political narrative?

Lol I am no leftist. I don't associate with bipartisan politics. Jones has just been an asshole for so long this is just karma coming back to hit him. I am not pro corporation but these companies offer people a place to speak and you are acting like they owe anything to anyone.

I get what you're saying with concern to rules via corporations. They have lured all people in but are now going after many on the right and we are not talking Alex Jones. While people can jump to other venues, they are purposefully doing this before elections and caving into those who are loudest. I mean, the CEO of Twitter has to remove his own tweet and apologize for eating at a Chic-Fil-A in that it is deemed anti-gay and such because it closes on Sundays and has Christian values. What is considered hate speech these days is being made up as they go. Jones was over the top in many ways but no more so than some others. And have you seen what is allowed on YT? As in some of VC's articles past? Corporations cannot squelch free speech....yet.

It should be noted that even right-leaning fox news is calling him a conspiracy loon, so this was an across the board agenda. But, again, this is about free speech for me and not Jones. While he has some nuggets at times, he is notoriously over the top.

Well I have been watching some of his shows and he clearly goes over the line very often. Like, I am no friend of the Pope but Jones called him repeatedly a "creepazoid" and a "demon from hell". Constantly baits his audience to attack physically people he views as his enemies (using a "battleaxe" he said on one of his shows). The guy is an effing agent provocateur.

Don't even pretend that Twitter is engaged in right wing censorship, the place is a haven for white nationalists and neo nazis, and they act with impunity.

Free speech. It is all about American free speech. Nothing more, nothing less. It was a concerted effort to shut down a bothersome person and it will lead to other censorship. It does not matter what he says or said provided he made no actual threats. This will only empower his base if that is what they were worried about.

But who cares what he or anybody else says as long as they are not actively seeking violence? We all have free will to watch or not watch anything. Or, do we? What we can watch will soon be dictated.

This video is why he was removed -

Doesn't matter. The internet was never meant to be a place for "free speech" in the first place. It was built on the military network backbone and the NSA has been proven to do surveillance on many major nodes. Just why the heck do you think it is called the World Wide WEB? The web of a spider, and it was to capture our minds ultimately.

I honestly wondered if he asked them to do that. He’s been going on about how they’re going to censor him for so long with nothing happening, RED ALERT videos, playing the victim and defender of righteousness, that something had to happen sometime for him to seem credible.

It just means all his viewers have to go to his site where all his products are sold. Otherwise, Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, twitter, Apple, and whoever else axed him on the same day, is pretty strange considering they are all separate companies. He’s the picture of controlled opposition anyways, the only person that it’s really clear that’s what he is. Or he totally went off his rocker a while ago. Probably a mix

Again, I understand what you are saying and the history of the internet But are we ignoring thought police and one world think?

In other news, YouTube bullies humble water filter salesman.

They are going to have to sort out the social media free speech issue as well. Yes they are private companies, but their business is to allow people to speak their opinions. To do this and also deny it to certain opinions doesnt seem right. Twitter etc are the new public squares, and you shouldn't be able to censor the public beyond what the law already deems a transgression - basically, incitement to violence.

But that's only if they are meant to be the public square. I guess it's just becoming more clear the whole thing is to control the public and what seems to be popular opinions

Not ignoring it. There is unfortunately nothing that can be done. Jones will have to take this to court if he really feels "oppressed". But I have seen his shows and he clearly violated their rules multiple times so he would most likely lose there.

I won't argue this... But I will question why it's an issue now? Why not when videos of people simply telling their coming out story got demonetized for being sexually explicit? Why isn't it an issue when various established YouTubers lost their ad revenue because they weren't advertiser friendly because some algorithm thought they cussed too much? Why is it not a problem when various left-wing YouTubers more or less have to turn to Patreon to make any money since they sure as shit can't get anything from the people they critique?

YouTube, Facebook, and the like all had issues before this... But now some people think its a big deal.

It's an issue only when your side loses apparently. I am glad they censor some stuff because YT content can be such garbage sometimes. Some people think they have a right to be annoying or offensive and often their videos appear on my feed for some unknown reason.

That is called the price of freedom. We are not designed to agree with everything we see and hear and, again, have the ability to shut it out. The reason this situation is so big is that he had a large following and that it happened on the same day Owens and others were intimidated who have their own views. For one who claims not to be left or right, you sure seem to sway a certain way per comments.

Also, who is saying it has not been an issue? But criticism of big techs moves in China are being overlooked here. Open censorship help from Google in China is a big deal. This is about much more than bloated Alex Jones. A death penalty on reckless driving seems a bit excessive
