I've never seen anyone on vigilant citizen or anywhere in general talk about the actual dangerous effects psychiatry has on our society, people, and children nowadays. Did you know that 1 in 5 adults nowadays will be diagnosed with a mental illness at some point in there life. Children nowadays can't pass between ages 0-18 without being screened and diagnosed and put on a label with with some new mental illness for every normal emotion they experience. I've honestly become so sick of the brainwashed brain dead people glamorizing a FRAUD and actively promoting it to children and adults to the point where any person that walks in a psychiatrist office nowadays Will walk out with a prescription. They're doing more harm than good. People are becoming addicted to these drugs, killing themselves, suffering from brain damage, heart problems, etc.... From the medication those "doctors" claim aren't toxic.... They never cured anything because they never discovered anything in first place. And before any "patient" comes up to me blabbering on about how they visited a psychiatrist and became better. I suggest they go research about the placebo effect, those drugs don't work because they work, they work because you believe they work. Anytime I try to speak up about this bs that's happening in psychiatry, people respond to me with "oh, so you're saying all those doctors are wrong? You're saying they're all liers and you're the only own right" I swear I'm sick of people putting psychiatrists in such a high glory angel position automatically stating anything they say or do is a fact that can't be questioned, why? Because they're "doctors", they have some "degree" and they "know what they're doing" and they claim that they "just want to help people" when all they care about is creating new fake "diseases", "illnesses", "disorders" so they can describe people more toxic drugs to fill up their pockets with money. I've never met anyone who actually sees psychiatry for what it is, a fraud, without calling me "crazy" or "paranoid" so I wonder what do YOU guys here at vigilant citizen think about this? Do you agree or disagree and if you disagree I'd like you to state why? Oh and here are some videos of you aren't convinced yet, I hope you reply after watching them.
No doubt they, psychiatrists, have caused major damage to people - wait, that's an understatement. Many have DIED at the hands of "psychiatry."
I think it's a soft science. And my that I mean - it's based on a ton of unproven theories. There is a lot of money thrown at it (and "research papers" to which I believe less than 80% can be repeated and thus vallidated). But it's a veritable cash cow for Big Pharma. I mean - look at our twisted and sick society? Who wouldn't want to "turn on, tune in and drop out" via the plethora of drugs now available at one's disposal? Drugs aimed at massaging away that needling doubt in the back of your mind that...well...something isn't right perhaps?
That being said, I absolutely do believe in biologically-based mental illness - but I believe this in the same way I believe in all biologically-based illnesses. I do not distinguish between the brain and the rest of the body. I believe those who are ill are ill - and in some cases, the brain is also affected. Prime example, those who suffer from Niacin deficiency (vitamin B3) can get Pellagra. Read about it's history to understand.

..nothing new with glamourizing depression and suicide.
Thing is, people are lazy. They prefer to take a pill than to act on the origin of the problem for most of times.

Yes, today it's seen as the "norm" to have anxiety problems, so naturally people tend to follow the herd and be a neurotic pill-pusher rather than be the odd one out.. :D

I was hit by an 8-week spell of severe depression completely out of the blue in 1978, but rather than run to the doctor I sat down and examined my lifestyle and concluded that I was living a too materialistic lifestyle, always being out and about in the material world (cycling, swimming, camping, local hobby clubs etc) rather than sitting quietly at home.
So I decided to give myself some spiritual depth by trying to understand the meaning of life and stuff like that by picking up a bible.
Whether it was coincidence or not I don't know, but the depression slowly began to lift and after 8 weeks I was alright, and have never looked back..:)
This verse springs to mind-
Jesus said- "Those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” (John 4:14)

I've always been a Christian since my early teens, only in a small way at first, but over the years it grew on me, I suppose it's the same for everybody who "logs on" to Jesus, he senses the "connection" and begins downloading spiritual power into us year by year.. :D
"Our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power" (1 Thess 1:5)
"Everybody tried to touch Jesus because power was coming from him" (Luke 6:12-19)

"Touching" nowadays simply means logging onto him in our thoughts and mindset.

..a psychiatrist I had one when I had health insurance and it was very beneficial to me and no they didn’t just dope me up...

If psychiatry worked for you that's great.
If religion helps others that's great too, whatever floats peoples boat.. :)

When meds are prescribed properly and there is an actual accurate diagnosis made they can be life saving. I’ve seen it numerous times. I’ve also seen the bad irresponsible end many times. Psychiatry is a tool which can be used - like any tool - for “good or evil”

Exactly. I’m still very interested in the research on psychedelics for therapy as nothing has shown as much promise for mental illness as they have. Mental illness is real and it’s not a sign of lack of faith or whatever or demons.
It is interesting research. Still has a long way to go.

if I could snap my fingers and change the whole mental health system I would.. there are so many fundamental problems with it and so many people get swallowed up whole but the POTENTIAL and when it actually works.. is amazing. And the problems aren’t inherent in the science. It’s corrupted from outside interests and from within by greed.

Psychedelics mess with my head.
I hate them.
Never take them now.

Many mental problems are caused by parents, teachers and society brainwashing us with false values from an early age.
Luckily I've always had a strong mindset and am immune to it, but many others are too nice to rebel against it.
I wish they'd get angry and stop being "mister nice guys" and say "I'm not taking the bull any more!", and bingo, they'll be on the path to curing themselves.
In fact one of the central themes of Christianity is to be a rebel, that's why I like it.
Jesus said:- "The world wants you to dance to its tune." (Matt 11:16/17)
And Christians don't dance.. :D

Everyone seems to have mental illness now days. PTSD, OCD, DEPRESSED etc. Well in case you're going through a war or having SUPER TRAUMATIC EVENTS then it's making sense to have them. But these people who got nothing fucked their brains whining about having mental illness when they're actually locking their self-up in their room 24 hours blaming the world because they didn't go the way they want it to. Like come on! You making yourself feel worse with the thoughts you stuff yourself up with. Just forgive and forget and life would be much better.

I agree. Mainly from my own experience. I spent years going to the hospital because I was having nervous breakdowns from a traumatic event they put me in multiple meds. It took 3 years for a nurse who asked me questions to say, “ that sounds like anxiety”, never did a doctor come to that conclusion. They put me on anxiety meds which helped to keep me calm in social settings but they didn’t prescribe a high enough dosage because “it was addictive” after two months of refilling I finally stopped. I decided to face my issues head on and learn not to be afraid of what happened and have faced the memory as well. It’s been about 3 years and my anxiety went naturally. I still “get shocked” when something traumatic happened but now I can handle it better with no meds. I don’t trust the system because, I didn’t need meds. I needed and eat to listen and potentially a friend, they just kept writing prescriptions and psychologist only asked questions and wrote stuff down, there was no feedback.

Three pages of people not realizing that Psychiatry and Psychology are completely different and also that the reason its so messed up in some countries like US. like Jess said. is because of insurance companies.

I have had them, various types from the ssri family.

I get those electrical shocks when I stop taking them.
Really nasty things.

Glad you got a proper diagnosis in the end. Are you on thyroxin now? Or can you manage it in another way?
I'm pretty sure that is withdrawal (which is a little slice o' hell). My cousin had to be taken down via a liquid version, her withdrawal was so bad. Cardio helps to... a lot. ♡

Thank-you. Those in both psychology and psychiatry rarely have any idea what they're talking about or doing, or even what we really are, which is why they make it up as they go, creating a giant mess of things with their hypotheses and poisonous psycho-tropic drugs.

We are, in truth, spiritual-Beings (Souls) Who are temporarily "locked" inside of these human animal bodies. And there is a battle going on at all times for control of our minds. Most go through their entire human existence without ever realizing this struggle, or that they are prisoners of their own minds, held captive by their "self" (the ego).

Those who have been observant of their own thought processes will have noticed that the mind is flooded with thousands of random thoughts every day, which are generated by the human, and have nothing to do with who and what we really are. Most simply allow themselves to be caught up in this emotional storm, and taken wherever it carries them, rather than seeking the eye of the storm, i.e. the calm, peaceful center of their Being, where are Creator has told us He will be.

There is no such thing as a "subconscious" (made-up psycho-babble terminology), and even what people refer to as their conscience isn't properly understood. Our conscience, which helps us decide what is right or wrong, is actually the small, still voice of our Creator, offering us Guidance in the moment, to help us avoid a potential danger or pitfall, and/or to know what the right thing is to do BEFORE we make a mistake.

"Depression" is the result of someone consistently ignoring our Creator's Counsel, thus further separating themselves from Him. It is mental anguish designed to bring us back to our Creator, so that He can show us how best to serve our fellow human+Beings and the greater, common good. Another form of mental anguish designed to help us arrive at the truth of a matter is referred to as "cognitive dissonance".

"Cognitive dissonance" is when someone holds two conflicting views in their mind at the same time. To do this, they have to convince themselves (or, more appropriately put their "self" has to con-vince them) to accept this double-minded state so they can hang on to their illusion and maintain the paradigm (ego boundaries) that the "self" has built to imprison the spirit-Being.

So, in reality, we are ALL suffering from a mental illness of our own making, by believing in fantasies (lies) and further separating ourselves from our Creator and the Truth. Something that no drug (all of which are poisons) can do anything to correct and will, in fact, always make the situation much, much worse.

Two very interesting films that address some of these issues are the 2005 film "Revolver" and the 2006 film "Peaceful Warrior".

A few clips below from the former, which do a nice job of illustrating the ego "self" that is the gate-keeper of the mind (and the source of all irrational fear), and how to overcome it.

My new doctor had given me blood tests which showed my thyroid was underactive but he said he didn't want to prescribe thyroxine (the standard cure) because it was only "borderline" underactive and he preferred waiting to see if it cleared up on its own, so I had to go on feeling cold, tired and sluggish for the next couple of years til it did eventually clear up.
I'd researched the condition on the net and found out that fluoride might have a bad effect on peoples thyroids, so I switched to fluoride-free toothpaste and that probably helped it clear up. i'd also heard that grapefruit might help, so I started eating grapefruit slices and that might have helped too.

Incidentally we don't know if Jesus cured mental illness, but his interaction with a hyper woman named Martha in Luke chapter 10 was interesting because basically he urged her to chill out and relax more.

On the day that Jesus visited, Martha’s desire was to be a good hostess—to serve the best meal with the best possible presentation, for Jesus’ sake. Her sister, Mary, however, was taking some time out to listen to Jesus
Martha became a little cross with Mary and spoke rather abruptly-“Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
Jesus, who was able to see into her soul, diagnosed her problem: she was worried and troubled about the serving and had no peace in her heart. He gently told Martha that a simple dinner was more than adequate.

PS- My family were hyper too, my dad was a chronic workaholic, my mother, sister and an aunt were neurotic, an uncle drank himself to death, another uncle worshipped money, another aunt had OCD (couldn't stop cleaning her house).
All of them except my sister are dead now and are in their graves, so all that fretting and worrying didn't do them a bit of good.

OCD has little to do with cleaning your house. That is a myth propagated by people who don’t understand what the condition actually is.
I think one reason people get so confused about psychiatry is that they don’t really understand the differences between psychiatry and clinical psychology.
Psychiatrists are clinically trained medical doctors. Clinical Psychologists are not. Psychiatrists are usually the people diagnosing mental health conditions and prescribing treatment for them. They might refer you on, to a psychologist or they might prescribe medication.
In some instances, medication is appropriate, but for a long time there was definitely a trend within psychiatry to throw medication at everyone. in the U.K. at least, there is definitely a move away from that now.

I thought OCD stands for 'Obsessive Compulsive Disorder'?
My auntie Jean certainly had an obsession with cleaning her house that went far and above ordinary normal housework.
Once she was in the middle of hoovering and wouldn't stop to open the door when my mum went to visit her; "I'M NOT STOPPING" she called out, so my mum turned round and walked off in disgust and never spoke to her again, and neither did I.
