Why did Jesus say..
John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”
Do you understand the difference please between past, present and future tense? The choices to complete that sentence would be "I was" (past tense), "I am" (present tense) or "I will be" (future tense). The only one that fits is "I am".
It was Christ, the
IMMORTAL Spirit-Being Who is God's
FIRSTBORN SON WHO IS NOT OF THIS WORLD (
John 8:14,
John 17:5,
John 18:36), Who made the above statement
THROUGH the mouth of Jesus, the
MORTAL human son of the virgin body of Mary. Jesus quite obviously was born of this world
IN BETHLEHEM. Christ, the Spirit-Being, has no earthly father or mother., because He is
NOT OF THIS WORLD.
Therefore Christ using the present tense "I am" is simply the correct tense for someone who has not ceased to exist, speaking of a past event. It does
NOT invoke God (Theo in Greek) nor is it a claim to be God. Do you similarly think that Paul was claiming to be God when he uttered the same words?
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God
I am what I am: and His grace which [was bestowed] upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
And where is Christ's meeting with Abram/Abraham recorded in the Bible? In Genesis, where Christ, the Spirit-Being Who is God's
FIRSTBORN SON, met him while He was here
in the body of Melchizedek.
Genesis 14:18-20
14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem (Peace) brought forth bread and wine: and
he [was] the priest of the Most High God.
14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed [be] Abram by the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth:
14:20 And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Hebrews 7:1-3
7:1 For this Melchizedek, King of Salem (Peace),
priest of The Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all;
first being by interpretation King of Righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
7:3
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest CONTINUALLY.
You cannot simply ignore all of the other verses, which very plainly state that Father is
GREATER than (the head of) Christ, and where Christ called Father His God. Christ said no less than 50 times that He was sent by Father and no less than 80 times that He (Christ) was the Son of Man, which Father can
NEVER be (
Num. 23:19).
There are simply
NO verses (zero) in all of Scripture that mention or support the trinity delusion, which is a Roman Catholic invention, borrowed from their pagan Babylonian ancestry.
And why then did this happen..if it didn’t mean anything?
John 8:59
Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
It's understood that "Christians" wish to pretend that the people tried to stone Jesus because he was purportedly claiming to be God, but that simply does NOT follow from the verses you've quoted. In full, this is the passage in question:
King of kings' Bible - John 8:45-50 (John 8:54-59 KJV)
8:45 Jesus answered,
If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of Whom ye say, that He is your God:
8:46
Yet ye have not known Him; but I know Him: and if I should say, I know Him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know Him, and keep His saying.
8:47
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.
8:48 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet FIFTY years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
8:49 Jesus said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was born, I am (
ch. 17:5).
8:50 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of The Temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
Christ, through the mouth of Jesus, clearly was
NOT honouring Himself or claiming to be God. Read what the passage actually says, rather than what you want it to say. The reason the
"Jews" picked up stones to stone Jesus is because all they saw was a human ("isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary"?) who wasn't even 50 years old, telling them he met Abraham. They (the "Jews") were unable to see (spiritually blinded by their own arrogance/ignorance) the immortal Spirit-Being Christ
INSIDE Jesus, which is why they eventually crucified Him, deeming Jesus to be a threat to their lucrative business/organized religion of Talmudic Judaism.
Matthew 11:25-27
11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said,
I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
11:26
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in Thy sight.
11:27
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son (Elijah - the "Revealer of God")
will reveal [Him].
