If I believe in Jesus dying for my sins then a few days, or months, or years later decide that I don't believe in that any further am I still saved?

Furthermore, once they are saved are they always saved? As a careful reading of this thread {click here} will show, practically every vocal Christian on this board is deceived except @Lisa :). I could name names and their doctrinal deceptions, according to her litmus test, but I won't. They know who they are (and so, I suspect, does she).

Warning! Out of context:

"that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine ..."
Ephesians 4:14, KJV

I am starting to think that I might have been an Ephesian in one of my possible if not probable past lives. Whenever I read these seemingly endless discussions between and among sola scriptura Bible believers concerning such issues as "grace vs. law or grace and law" and "once saved always saved (or not)," I get tossed to and fro by winds of what prove to be, ironically, for the most part Pauline doctrines.

For instance, I read Christian A's argument and I think, "yes, that sounds right." And then I read his or her detractor, Christian B's, with a diametrically opposite view, and I think, "yes, that sounds right." I would guess, and only a guess it is, that it is probably from such internal, conflicting and apparently irreconcilable chatter as this that George Orwell devised the concept of "doublethink," secularized it, and incorporated it into his famous novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four.
I believe this "once saved always saved" doctrine is what allows people to sin so strongly and arrogantly and not feel bad about it.

Should you convert to Christianity, you might be most comfortable in an Arminian denomination!

I don’t think anyone who has had a true encounter with God and is genuinely born again could possibly be happy running away from the Lord. Those who have been Christians for a while and have spent time as “prodigal sons” know what I mean.

That’s not how it works.

I’ve gone through long periods of my life where I lived like hell, but I was under tremendous conviction the entire time. I never lost my salvation, but my witness and relationship with God were damaged badly.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:12‬ ‭
If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
Edit: Do the if’s in scripture bother you?

Also..what is God remaining faithful about?

I don’t even know how the op has invited something like another once saved always saved debate. I think this discussion is severely over complicating something simple.

when I read the op, the only thing I saw was the expressed desire to continue seeking the lord with humility. humility is what would inspire someone to seek the lords will regularly rather than making the assumption of being crowned already.

so simple, yet so hard for so many to understand. Therefore the cognitive bible battle begins again.

I think that the muslims brought in osas to complicate the op. Osas is a difficult concept for people to understand especially since its not Biblical. How can you be osas no matter what, can‘t you just sin repeatedly and do whatever you want then..I think its an understandable question.

Does context make a difference to you?

The Bible says that, once we are saved, we are one spirit with God. God sees himself when he looks at us. We can be denied rewards and blessings if we deny God in our lives, but there is no way, given what the rest of scripture says about salvation and our status once we are saved, that you can interpret any verse as meaning that God rejects a saved person once they are indwelt with his Holy Spirit.

I know your position on this, and I know how blind you are to any interpretation of scripture that goes against what you think and feel is the truth. I’m not going to bother answering you on this thread after this post, unless it’s to make a point for someone else’s benefit.

The if‘s provide context...take this verse for instance...
Hebrews 3:14
For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.

He’s talking about rewards, not salvation. Is Christ saved just like us? No, he IS the salvation. We are partakers of glory with him, not salvation.

It was this.
Yeah I definitely think that you are putting words in his mouth then. I could fill in the blank with several other possibilities.

"We must seek to do His will for our lives to make it."

We must seek to do his will for our lives to make it (life) fulfilling.
We must seek his will for our lives to make it "so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky" (Philippians 2:15).

I could go on and on because nowhere in this statement does it suggest that this poster is saying that we must seek to do his will for our lives to be saved. That enters the imagination because it must have trigged the desire to defend something that you believe. Somehow, even though this poster said nothing directly to the effect of what you are suggested, it caused some degree of defensiveness and this blocked out the ability to listen.

All I hear is that life is better when we understand God's purpose for our lives. I don't hear anything resembling a once saved only saved argument.

It seems that He is talking about salvation...what is a partaker anyway? Hebrews 6:4 also talks about being a partaker of the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit.
‭‭

To partake...
par·take
\pär-ˈtāk, pər-\
  • : to have a share or part of something along with others
  • : to join with others indoing something : to take partinsomething
  • : to have some of the qualities ofsomething
And in both cases we have to be a part of Christ or part of the Holy Spirit. So, that is talking about salvation isn’t it? You can’t have Christ or the Holy Spirit without being saved can you?

In Hebrews 3:14..you are only partakers of Christ...IF you hold firm from the beginning to the end. In Hebrews 6:5 it says you can fall away from the faith...even if you are a partaker of the Holy Spirit..and the only way to partake of the Holy Spirit is to be a believer isn’t it?

He’s speaking to Jews who think they can go back and forth between Christianity and Mosaic Judaism.

Lisa, just explain how someone can break a seal placed on them by God. Everything else, every verse you misinterpret and take out of context, would be unnecessary, if you could just explain how a person sealed by the Holy Spirit is able to overpower God’s seal.

Maybe @KingKanti can answer that.
