Around 9 years ago during my 30s, I started feeling frequent headaches, body pains, fatigue and skin rashes, at first I was concerned about the rashes because it is all over my chest, my back, my elbows & knees and my scalp, and the itchiness (on my chest) really annoyed me. I went to dermatologists so many times and they always give me ointments, lotions, soaps, etc. and told me that there is really nothing serious, so after going back and forth to the dermatologist rashes still did not go away and so I was just got used it. And then after some time, the frequent body pains and feeling tired with no apparent reason has become very noticeable, I started to feel paranoid thinking I may have a very serious illness, so I went to the doctor for consultation, the doctor sent me to several lab tests and examinations (MRI, ECG, blood tests, urine & tool tests, etc.) and after all the test and examinations, the doctor told me everything is fine except for elevated blood pressure and a little bit high blood sugar (but still normal), his diagnosis was that I may have fibromyalgia and vaguely mentioned about gluten intolerance (which i totally ignored) and gave me prescriptions for fibromyalgia and hypertension, and for my body pains he sent me to physical therapy. After that I felt a little bit better for some time, but then all symptoms came back again and so I was going back and forth to the doctor and have all the tests and examinations done every 6 months for several years with the same tests results. Well, I was really glad that the test results were always fine but I still feel the pain and discomfort and hopelessly wondering what the hell is wrong with my body. Then one of my friends told about his health condition that he has gluten intolerance and told me about the symptoms and explained to me the causes (i.e. allergic reaction to ingestion if wheat, barley and rye) his symptoms are similar with mine except for stomach/bowel discomforts and so I got interested and researched it online. I was surprised to know that this condition has been observed long time ago (probably during the 50s) and was just not totally understood, it is some kind of autoimmune disease (from genetic origin) triggered by in reaction to ingestion of gluten (i.e. wheat, barley and rye), I really like to eat bread (who doesnt anyway) so it was really shocking revelation to me. And so after so much research, I finally came to the conclusion that I have gluten intolerance.

My current diet is bread (always)/egg/meat/vege in breakfast, rice and meat/vege/fruit in lunch and dinner. Right now, I cannot avoid eating bread (no other choice) due to my current job location and condition, so I have to bear with all the discomforts associated with gluten intolerance.

According to most recent information, there is no current cure for gluten intolerance or celiac disease (more serious form), affected ones need to totally avoid gluten (wheat, barley and rye) ingestion, which means no bread/cookies, no beer or no any food/beverages with gluten ingredients.

Please do share you personal experiences (if you have) and any helpful info/tips regarding gluten intolerance and celiac disease.

I haven't been diagnosed with anything, but I do notice the difference when I eat certain foods. I started a Keto type diet, I said Keto type because it's not strict and I realized that I don't eat alot of meats or dairy but I generally avoid rice, and bread anyway, I just needed to get rid of chips and cookies. I eat more fruit, veggies, eggs and meat and I've felt great. I rarely have indigestion unless I eat something fatty on an empty stomach. But listen to your body, it knows.

The problems that people in today's world have with wheat are a result of the modern method of making bread, i.e. with fast rising yeast. Our ancestors didn't experience any problems with wheat because before the industrial era bread was made with wild yeast.
I agree, also a lot processed food nowadays involving chemicals

I don't eat sugar nor flour (no bread) and feel so much better and have lost a lot of excess weight that I didn't need. Please try going without bread. It's not impossible but the first few days and even month are a bit tough.

I did eat some bread again just because I was at a friend's house for dinner and I immediately felt sick. Like @Stina stated, bread is highly processed. Unless you can bake your own, I wouldn't touch it.

My reaction to bread is feeling lethargic and sick to my stomach. I didn't realize it until I cut it out for 2-3 months and then tried to reintroduce it at that dinner. It was a test because I know sugar is bad but wasn't fully convinced bread was bad. It is for me.

Did you get tested for celiac disease? Maybe your body was reacting to the sugar in the bread, instead of the gluten protein. For anyone confused about this, sugar is a required ingredient for bread that's made with fast rising yeast.
Yes. I don't have celiac disease, but I find gluten/bread/flour and sugar to be addictive foods for me. Not eating them has helped me lose almost 70 lbs and will be 80 lbs by the end (I was almost 230 lbs).

Also, and this may sound weird, when I cheated and ate bread, I felt almost drunk from a big piece of bread. Gluten and sugar must ferment in the gut. It was an awkward feeling.

i cut out wheat from my diet years ago. never felt better.

i had thought it was a gluten thing for me until i read that they spray glyphosphate on the wheat just prior to harvesting. this gives a 16% (or so) increase in volume to the harvest. this is because as the plant begins to die, it sends all of its energy and nutrients to the seed head. glyphosphate is often the cause the problem. im not saying its yours, but it might be.

in addition to what lurker said, you could try sprouted flour products. they digest as a vegetable.

youve got to cut out the bread. its absolutely doable. it will be initially hard for you to find an alternative, but you will. theres no reason to suffer.
no one should be eating bread on a daily basis, especially white bread. its worse than white sugar, and the flour is often brominated in the process-- bromine is even worse than being fluoridated.

Go to a naturopathic doctor and ask to get hair analysis done. Hair analysis, which is a proven science and used in forensic science, will determine if you have excessive amounts of heavy metals in your body. Copper, lead, mercury, cadnium and aluminum are common and can cause serious health issues. Unlike blood and urine tests, which only capture what is happening at the moment and quite often show negative in tests. Hair analysis will give a snap shot of the last three months and can even indicate heavy metals hidden in fatty areas of the body. Chelation is the key to removing the metals from the body. Drink and shower with filtered water.

I should have wrote this post first.

It sounds like you may have candida albicans or yeast overgrowth in the gut. Candida is the bad bacteria in your gut, it is meant to be there, just not in large numbers. Over use of anti-biotics, poor diet, excessive coffee consumption and/or alcohol and certain medications can kill off good bacteria. Candida feeds off sugar and simple carbs. Bread contains yeast and causes a bad reaction to those with yeast overgrowth. Similar to GI but not as bad.

Many people have gone on strict diets such as the keto diets to kill the bacteria. They feel better for a while but have not resolved the problem. Like I said in my previous post, checking for heavy metals(using hair analysis) is the place to start. In my own personal experience once I rid my body of excessive copper, my candida problem went away on its own. My digestion and blood pressure went back to normal and my allergies and aches and pains gradually also went away. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I do appreciate your advise about hair analysis and heavy metals, I am kind of curious about keto diet also...but my rashes are more like pimples/acne, different from yeast infection i believe, although I may have occasional mild fungal infection that could probably be attributed to my slightly high blood sugar (not yet diabetic though), my father is diabetic by the way so it is most probable that i have a diabetic genes.

You are welcome. My health issue took a long time to figure out because like you, my tests were all normal as well. The internet was just new at this time and information was scare. I fought with several doctors because they tried to tell me its all in my head and wanted me on anti-depressants. No Thanks. I found and read the book - Why Am I always so tired (copper overload) by Ann Louise Gittleman - and that sealed the deal that I was on the right track.

Many doctors still don't acknowledge candida as a health issue after all this time.. Even more don't believe hair analysis has any value. This is because they are trained to manage symptoms. While naturopathes deal with getting to the root cause of illness. My copper excess came from my vegetarian soy based diet, copper pipes in my home (lots of green rings around the sinks) and chronic work stress. The perfect storm.
Anyways, I wish you success in your journey to good health.

Not topic related but since you mentioned filtering water, could you tell me what type of filter you are using?
I want to stop buying bottled water and so I've wanted to invest in a filter or two, but I have no idea what to buy.
I would be curious to know this, too. I just use a Brita pitcher and a filtered water bottle. Hopefully he uses affordable ones.

i drink distilled water only.
for a water filter (counter top), theres the berkey and the one that alex jones pushes, alexapure. i think both offer a fluoride filter. if youve got municipal tap water, youve got to use a filter, unless you want to ingest the dissolved synthetic medication that is never filtered out.
i had a whole house carbon filter. it was unbelievably good. the shower was amazing with no smell of chlorine, which i didnt notice until i switched.

So it's bread only or it includes all wheat products ? I'm lacking better term here, but you understand what I'm asking about.
As for sugar 3-4 months as I quit it, incredible just how much better I feel, and how much more energy I have...

I do the Bright Line Eating plan which is no sugar and no flour (nothing made with flour, all kinds of bread, etc). I wasn't convinced on the no flour thing since sugar was more my vice, but there's something to it. It probably was Candida as @Frank Badfinger brought up. Also had read Natasha McBride's book about gut problems, autoimmunity, etc. and wondered about the connection between what we eat and our health. Basically I eat very little if any processed food and that has made a world of difference. I recommend to anyone to eat as little processed food as possible.

I drink spring water (5 Gallon bottle ) and brita water from a tap. I also use a shower water filter as there is orange residue from rusty pipes without it.

Thanks for the info guys, although to be honest I'm even more confused now, LOL, because no one in my country who wants to drink clean water would ever buy Brita filters.
the Berkey filter doesn't provide enough information about the filtration method and the Alexapure site gives no clue about how it works. Do people buy just based on brand or how?The manufacturers in my country provide almost interminable details so I find it very weird.

Anyway, I found a triple gold awarded filter which allows Mg, Ca, Na and K to pass through for the kitchen and for the bathroom I might go for a filter with Carbon+NanoMineral Clusters+Turmaline+things I can't translate. I've always had a basic filter installed on the pipes for rust/dirt so hopefully combined with the above it will be enough. Wish me luck!!
I mainly drink natural spring water but I do keep Brita in the fridge. The tap water is pretty good where I am. So the Brita's main job is to take out the chlorine especially during hot months. It does a pretty good job.

A relative of mine who works at the water company assures me our water is very clean too, although their family drinks only spring water.
Even assuming that the water was really that great and the pipelines that the water traveled on were squeaky clean (which they most probably aren't) sudden pollution can happen anywhere in the world.
Last winter our capital's waters became polluted with ammonia from a sudden massive snow melt. Two springs ago a neighboring city's water turbity was affected by heavy precipitation. If you don't keep up with the news you may have no clue that you should steer away from drinking it until the problem resolves and in the case of the ammonia incident they only announced it a few days AFTER, and probably only because people kept demanding explanations about what happened to their water.

How about beer and other food with barley and rye, do you get similar reaction?
