There is a good chance of that. But seriously, the Dems need to pick someone better than Creepy Uncle Joe Biden or Buttigieg. I actually don't mind Buttigieg that much, except I just think that it is a mistake to pick a candidate that will upset the Trump fanatics so much and rally them to the polls. Even some of the initial supporters who are tiring of Trump will still be motivated to vote for him if Trump is up against someone that they think is "far left". And Buttigieg doesn't even have to actually be far left -- just being gay is enough for the other side to label him as such. Plus, come on -- he is a gay guy whose last name starts with "Butt". Dems are just asking for the memes if they nominate him.

The reason they lost last time was that they picked a candidate who was actually less likeable than Trump. Clinton didn't motivate the diehard liberal base to go to the polls, but she sure did motivate the diehard far right base to go. I'd like to think that Dems learned their lesson on that one, but clearly they haven't.

Of course, all this assumes that we actually have any say in who is elected. I don't really think that we do. The mega-donors who buy up both sides of the aisle are the ones who really decide. If they want Trump, then that is what we will get. News is corporate owned after all and if war benefits the owners stock portfolio, they'll champion it on the news. If they want a particular candidate, they'll control the narrative to push that candidate. Logically, Trump shouldn't have even made it past a couple of weeks on the campaign trail if we had an independent media that was impartial. Clearly we don't have that. And since we don't have that, we really don't have a functioning democracy or a fair political process. It is all just theater at this point.

It's always been a theatrical performance because America was created to be a corporation rather than a democracy like they stole from the natives. It's been about control through economics, class, racism, religious and educational indoctrination, entertainment, scientific manipulation, violence, and ultimately deceit. America is no more a democracy than we are a Christian country. Even believing in politics that isn't about money is asinine at this point. The federal government works for corporate oligarchs not for the citizens.

Trump is as much a puppet as those before him and while having all this proof that our government is corrupt we still talk about politics as if it matters. Our votes don't count and our division runs so deep that our voices can't be heard to even reverse all the harm America has caused itself and the world. But people still get on here believing in politics, looking for a savior when there will be no politician to effect change.
