I see people thinking he was drunk and it makes sense because he was doing the most
But the company allows him to be drunk during a show like that? Its kind of worrying tbh
I'm pretty positive he was drinking. I don't think he was drunk but he was certainly feeling good. They allow them to do congratulatory toasts so it's not too different if he indulged a little before filming. I think they're slowly allowing them to be shown in that light more and more since their Burn the Stage showed them drinking a lot too.

Yea sorry, i was mostly explaining again to all the other messages, i am just a bit exasperated at explaining over and over again.

It seems like i'm "downplaying BTS american success" when i just stated facts about them not being in any top charts, and i'm a bit tired of being misunderstood.
English is not my language and it's tiring at this point.
Don’t worry we all don’t have to agree I for one don’t agree with some of what you’ve said and that’s fine I believe America is a solid base for BTS and is the start and reason for their western success
It’s ok to have different views and Ik that the the majority disagrees but it’s ok I understand why you would think some things
Also your English is very good some users here who aren’t native English speakers write in English so well I wish I was that good at other languages haha I’m studying French and I find it so hard

Hello everyone. I just wanted to share with you my thoughts. And please don't attack me. But I don't understand the BTS phenomenon. Everytime I ask this question to people they always answer it's because of their dance skills and songs about mental health. I do think they have few catchy songs but I just can't make myself scream, cry and kiss screen everytime they show up. I don't want to put their work down but there are many other groups both male and female who can dance and sing meangful songs but they never reached fame and popularity of BTS.
Same I don't understand the phenomenon of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Adele, Cardi B, Beyonce and other artists that are extremely famous these days. I'm trying to understand that myself and I get into conclusion that they have to cast a spell or some kind other hypnosis because people are becoming addicted and acting out of their characters by listening their music. This is totally not working on me. I don't understand their uniqueness.
I wanted to share a personal story: two years ago for my psychology classes there was invited a man who could put people into hypnosis and make them do certain things or make them remember so called past life. Everyone in my group of 17 people fell into this hypnosis except me. I just couldn't fall asleep or get into that relaxed state that he wanted me to. He was counting to 10, snapping fingers, touching my hand, and said some triggering words but nothing worked. I was just sitting there looking at his efforts like he was a clown or something. He suddenly got somehow angry and asked me: 'are you blocking me?' I replied I have no idea how to do that and he said: 'you're defenetly blocking me'. So to end my post I think all these famous people are really doing some kind of rituals on stage or in music videos but they don't work on anyone.

In my opinion, there are no signs that BTS’s success will go down from here, especially not in America. BTS have not even reached their peak, here or in Korea. In America they have a NEW deal with Columbia that will bring US singles and US radio play. They still have TV shows appearances, and a tour that is coming soon. It’s unlikely that with all the effort that is being put into it that they will lose any of that popularity. In Korea they have 10 PAKS and didnt even step foot in Korea since their comeback. I don’t see ANY signs that they are going to slow down.

This has been following them since their debut. They won’t be successful. They get successful and now it’s that the success is coming to an end. There always seems to be doubt.

To be honest, most people are just very suggestible. Magic isn't necessary, just a good knowledge of psychology.

I don't think BT*$ are unique per se, but they have a rags to riches tale that strikes a chord with many, many people. They love the rise of the underdog, deep down it gives people hope that they themselves can experience that. Many live through BT*$ vocariously.

That - along with the rich social media content and likeable, relatable personalities (real or not) makes viewers feel close to them. They fill a void that many in the fanbase have.

I will say this though - their friendship between themselves does seem more genuine compared to other groups. It's an underlying thing which I think people pick up on.

If you didn't react to the hypnosis, good for you. It seems you don't have a suggestible mind and it might be good for your own sake to work out what exactly it is that gives you this ability. Then you can make it stronger.

I agree. I don't really see a downfall either. Maybe scandals, but that's to be expected.

Wow thanks for sharing! I agree with most of the things you said, tbh the thing about artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana, BTS ect is that most people, especially the youth, discover their music during one of their lowest points in their life, I’m not generalizing here but I’m speaking in terms of how most BTS fans I’ve talked to have said that their music has helped them cope with life, depression ect, sometimes it’s not even their music but the actual celebs themselves lol I feel like those type of fans emotionally attach themselves to the group, because they feel grateful that they changed their lives, I can’t tell you how much I’ve heard fans say “so and so has saved my life ect” I’m not trying to be bias but the truth is, depression sells, it sounds harsh yes but it’s true, most kpop groups have meaningful songs once in a while, but BTS on the other hand literally most of their songs are deep and meaningful...because of this some ppl feel like they can relate and understand them because they share a common struggle. I don’t know if I’m making sense but yeah

^^This I think I was much more attached to them as people (esp Suga) than them as artists because of their story When I first became a fan I thought wow these boys are amazing they endured struggle when they couldn’t make it big and had to work harder than ever and now look at them Sugas story made me love them more because I could relate in some ways
It’s a lot about how Fans feel attached to these artists and feel like they know eachother and have been through the same pain and they think these celebs are now happy giving them hope These artists are public voices for them as they share their story with millions via their music or verbally

I guess is true. Maybe people are lacking things in real life and crave things that these famous people are projecting. Like love, friends, support, fame etc... I admit my life is not perfect but I never had a need to follow, worship or idolize a famous person.

I was thinking the same. It's invoking spirits. Kurt Cobain & Michael Jackson both admitted to doing this alot. In reference to RM's comments about writing lyrics. How it's like a possession. Sorry, I thought I quoted an earlier post but realized I hadn't.

How does the video for DNA tie into these theories? Specifically with Fake Love? Tae and JK mirror each other in the dance and throughout the video. Thoughts? It appears to be a typical pop music video. One thing I noticed is the set in both videos resemble the other, except one is brighter while the other is slightly darker.

Speaking of DNA, 23andme really want people to give theirs! I know they sponsored the BBMAs and had so many commercials, drilling it into people's minds.

I'm glad you mentioned this. 23andme is everywhere. I didn't know they sponsored the BBMA's! I was suspicious why every other person was getting a DNA test done.

Just wanna throw it out there again but an obstacle to their marketability is their race. So as much promise as there is with their fanbase and talent, being Asian in American entertainment is not really a thing. How many Asian singers can you think of at the same level as an Ariana Grande or Dj Khalid (popular in America)? You at least have some black and Latino rep.
Barely any, so it'll be a test to see how they do.

I agree with you with that I guess we just see how long their fame in America can last cause racism is the hardest thing to overcome and singing in Korean makes it harder. Bts is still seen as a group with crazy teenage fangirls instead of the 20+ fans which they have and then being compared with 1D too and being known as the Asian version of them they just got a lot of work to do.
Bts also still don't consider themselves as broken into America and they seem so awkward over there so if their fame did end there it wouldn't be a problem things will just go back to the way they were before the BBMAs.
