Why Feminism isn't needed anymore (except in 3rd world countries)

But it still exists, and also the reason why some people think feminism is still necessary. My country always has the largest gender pay gap among OECD nations (37.2% in 2015), worse than the United States. Even the Law itself prohibits employers using gender-based pay scales, in practice, they often end up earning a lot less than men. And nah, it doesn't always have something to do with the stuff you mentioned above as clearly stated by one of the worth mentioning testimonials: "My female co-worker entered the company with me, but she got lower bonus compared to other male workers." (Source). Maternal leaves and pregnancy may affect the gender pay gap, but the overall sexism itself is what I think has the largest proportion in creating discrimination in the workplace. Don't worry, I'm not saying this because I support feminism —I'm not even a female—, just stating one of the reasons why people think feminism is still necessary even in the first world. Gender violence and discrimination will always be issues whether in a developed society or not, just in different forms.
Thats where you're wrong kiddo.

Feminism is needed until humans can get along and not see anyone as lesser for their gender... so it's gonna be here for a long time.
Women have equal rights in this country. The first and second wave of feminism made sense and was needed. Third wave is pointless, unless you live in the Middle East.

That will never happen.
So feminism will never go away, it's an ongoing goal for society. An egalitarian society takes work and even if it is never fully achieved, the closer we get, the better. We can't stop when we've only just began... We can still be progressing towards a just society and not allowing ourselves to fall back into bigoted ways. Feminism will not go away because it's still not over, humanity has a lot more work to do.

No I said that about humans getting along. Yes women have equal rights
So as a woman, you feel that everything is equal in the workplace? (If you arent a woman then your perception is not going to be the same). You mention maternity leave, but not all women take it because they already have kids or they don't want any.

But let's clarify what you mean when you say feminism-- oversight in the workplace (corporate level), in the government?

Women, you have equal rights to men in the 1st world. Why is it needed?
I tend to agree. I think it is another bandwagon that people join in order to give them a sense of belonging to a community. I remember when the women were protesting Trump. Some of the girls I went to school with were some of the most privileged people I have ever seen in my life. They had bachelors degrees, owned their own businesses, were living the life that early protestors for women's right described. Yet, they still were parroting the idea that women suffered some sort of systemic oppression. I just couldn't understand it.

I had much more challenging circumstances growing up. Moved out on my own when I was 18 and once I was out of the oppressive environment created within my home, the world has treated me very fairly as a girl growing into a woman on my own. I have had my own jobs that allowed me to pay my own bills. I have had support to go to school, had good benefits, do basically anything I want to do. Without equal rights for women, considering where I started, there would have been no way for me to overcome my circumstances the way I have.

So I strongly disagree that the direction for the women's movement today should go in the direction that people are leading it. It is like they are trying to receive the same recognition that women in the past receive for their efforts instead of being a creative leader that can lead us to improve the future the way the women were when the women's movement began. These feminists today parrot what they are told to consider oppressive and evidence of continued sexism instead of using objectivity to realize where improvements could be made.

In particular, 3rd world countries. We should be able to realize how fortunate we are to have the freedoms that we have that many women throughout the world don't enjoy and be motivated to engage in some way to change that.

Ok so you realize why feminism is needed and will not go away.
It is NOT needed. Feminism today is useless. Feminism used to mean equal rights, for both men and women. They have that. It is not needed. Yes sexism and racism will always exist. Its not gonna change with some movement.

who said feminism means equal RIGHTS?

feminism was always for EQUALITY, it never limited that to some sort of judicial standard only.

and to be quite frank even if we are equal on paper, that does not translate to equal in practice.

crimes against women for example are typically punished less severely, if even punished at all. despite laws making crime against women illegal and the judges ability to treat these issues as harshly in sentencing as they like.

birth control is a contentious issue in the health care debate yet no one blinks an eye that viagra is covered, no problem.

jobs that are traditionally female pay less despite those jobs requiring just as much of not more specialized skill and being just as difficult (even if in different ways)

additionally how many of our equal rights have only been won a couple decades ago? the second feminists let up those rights start eroding rapidly, if you were payong attention at all you would see that these rights are still fragile and many are being attacked constantly.

the need for feminism in third world countries does not negate the need for it here. this isnt a who has it worse contest.

The question for me is when are feminists going to demonize how welfare benefits women moreso than men? Or how a women's accusation of r*pe can get a man jailed and/or his reputation ruined? Or how child support clearly leans towards women? Gender pay gap is based on the different jobs genders generally have and yea maybe caretakers or teachers should be paid more but then again so should police officers and firemen. That's more about the value this society places on certain roles than it being about sexism.

So to me,It's not about equality but about placing the women over the man. Which to me is yet another sign that this system is circling the drain before going away/changing...
