bruuuhhhhhhh like this demonic emo concept is so crinngeee
I'm an actual extreme metalhead (I have listened to extreme metal genres death metal and black metal, and all subgenres of these 2 aforementioned genres for almost 17 years since I was 15).
I can immediately tell when extreme metal aesthetics are being used outside of metal.
These particular extreme metal aesthetics are being used because they look cool to non-metalheads.
Extreme metal in general has cool looking aesthetics to appeal to metalheads. Some of these aesthetics look cool to non-metalheads too.
Well, just because something looks cool, doesn't mean that people should use it or display it when they don't know what it means or the history and significance behind it, and especially when they themselves are not associated with the symbols or aesthetics.
This is the same case where some kpop fans use upside down stars in their twitter/instagram bio or posts because it looks cool to them, and they don't know what it means.
Ten's shirt in particular is copying the aesthetic of the black metal genre in particular.
"Black" in black metal means evil and darkness.
The black metal genre in particular is the only genre that wears the black and white panda-esque "facepaint", called "corpse paint" and "demon war paint". This was meant to make them look like corpses and to look frightening against "outsiders".
Other metal genres do not wear any corpse paint.
Black metal, and its subgenres raw black metal and bestial black metal (aka black/death metal and war metal) is the extreme metal genre that dives deep into occultism, especially left hand path occultism like Luciferianism, Satanism, Setianism, and other left hand path occult systems (like Sumerian, Mesopotamian, Babylonian demonology, and more).
Initially, all Satanic themed metal was called black metal, before black metal developed into its own metal genre.
Many black metal musicians are LHP occultists, including being actual Satanists, Luciferians, and other LHP system practitioners.
However not all black metal is Satanic or LHP, there are some musicians that became pagan and Viking pagan.
The non-LHP black metal subgenres are black/viking metal, some atmospheric black metal, and depressive suicidal black metal (DSBM).
There is also non-Satanic black metal that focuses on the darkness of the human mind and negative emotions, like war, hatred, anger and rage, misanthropy, and depression and melancholy, and negative philosophy like nihilism.
Another example of using an extreme metal aesthetic outside of metal is aespa's logo for their MV "Savage". It looks like an extreme metal band logo and looks cool.
This is extreme metal in particular above.
The non-extreme genres of metal are heavy metal, speed metal, and power metal, and traditional doom metal (not other doom metal subgenres).
These non-extreme genres have singing only, and don't have death metal growls or black metal shrieks and screams.
The genre power metal is the pleasant sounding "happy metal" genre with happy melodies, and is the "safest" metal genre to listen to for non-metalheads.
If you want to get into metal or are interested, please listen to the all-female Japanese melodic power metal band Hagane. This is melodic power metal done right, correctly and a stellar job.
