The official Olympic mascot is quite interesting. Its based on a 'Phyrigian cap' that the French revolutionaries wore.
It doesn't seem likely that tptb would want to promote any kind of uprising now, so could it be a celebration of the fact that the Mason's were responsible for the French Revolution? Considering the opening ceremony imagery as well?
