“Integralism was operating before any self-understood Christian Nationalists were operating,” explained Kevin Vallier, an associate professor of philosophy at Bowling Green State University whose new book, “All the Kingdoms of the World: On Radical Religious Alternatives to Liberalism,” examines Catholic integralism.

The movement, Vallier said, traces its origins to the fall of the Roman Empire, when the Catholic Church took on many of the functions of the state. For generations, popes argued that God ordained two powers: kings to rule “temporal” matters and promote “ordinary natural good,” and the church to promote spiritual “eternal goods.”

“In many cases, these two divinely authorized institutions will sort of clash,” Vallier said. “The question is ‘Well, which is superior?’ The integralist says that the church is superior … and that means it can delegate to the state to help enforce its spiritual mission.”
According to Vallier, integralists prefer a “soft power” approach to exerting Christian influence over society.

“There’s the sense that the liberal order is so corrupt that elite Catholics have to find positions of influence and use them in a kind of noble and appropriate way,

I support the Imperial Cult of Rome and not the nerds in the Vatican..
It’s not ideal but the Vatican running the show would certainly better than the all the Protestant racist Populists. The dumbest catholic intellectual is smarter than the smartest evangelical intellectual.
Colonel, enjoy the (world gov't) show. All roads lead to Rome, right?

"....we get the Gregorian papal reforms in the 1100s in the West and what it does, it changes the structure of the church....a new ecclesiology where the Papacy/Pope calls the shots on everything. He is above all the world rulers, every emperor must submit to him, he can call standing armies....we see this with the Borgia Popes. He can excommunicate anyone who doesn't fight in his armies as Alexander VI threatens to do. He's basically the god-emperor." Source: 9min mark

So it’s an odd time for Catholic intellectuals to be proposing changes to the US Constitution that they hope will be a prelude to the worldwide subjugation of secular rulers to the Catholic Church. But, as I report in the most recent episode of The Spectator’s Holy Smoke podcast, that’s what’s happening. The movement is generally known as Integralism, a label previously applied to ultra-conservative Catholic reactionaries before World War Two.

In contrast, the new Integralists are not anti-Semitic. In a new Catholic polity — ideally monarchist, though that’ll be a tough sell in America — there will be no such thing as a Jewish citizen. But nor will there be Methodist citizens. Or Anglo-Catholic ones, however lavishly ‘Roman’ their Episcopal Masses. As for ‘heretics’, by which I assume they mean Catholics who spread dissent, ‘the temporal power may use bloody means, even capital punishment, when acting on its own authority: within Christendom it may also do this against spiritual offenses like heresy if they gravely harm the common temporal good.’

I’m taking all this from Integralism: A Manual of Political Philosophy (2020), co-authored by the English Dominican Fr Thomas Crean and Alan Fimister, who teaches theology and Church history at St John Vianney Theological Seminary in Colorado......The book is written in hideous cod-Thomistic prose that certainly brings to mind the flapping of white coats. But that’s nothing compared to the craziness of its underlying assumption, which is that if Catholics pay enough attention to St Thomas Aquinas then we can return to a heresy-hunting Christendom headed by the Pope. Quite how Boris Johnson, Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel etc. can be persuaded to ‘take the bow’ in front of the Supreme Pontiff is not explained. Presumably that will be up to their successors, swept to power in the coming Integralist surge. I suppose it’s just possible that Joe Biden will do it, being ‘devoutly Catholic’ and a bit confused — but so far the evidence suggests that in that relationship it’s the Vatican doing the genuflecting.

Enter ‘common-good constitutionalism’, which isn’t a snappy term but is less likely to frighten the horses than Integralism — which is what it is. In an article in the Atlantic last year, Vermeule proposed sweeping away libertarian concepts of free speech. Under a common-good constitutionalist ‘regime’, the law will teach, habituate and re-form its ‘subjects’, who will thank their ‘ruler’ for helping them form ‘better habits, and beliefs that better track and promote communal well-being’. And if they don’t? The state will ‘curb the social and economic pretensions of the urban-gentry liberals who so often place their own satisfactions (financial and sexual) and the good of their class or social milieu above the common good’.

There’s no mention of Catholicism in the Atlantic article, but elsewhere the professor, who converted to the faith as recently as 2016, argues that US immigration policy should automatically give priority to confirmed Catholics, adding that we need to re-think the nation state: ‘We have come a long way, but we still have far to go — towards the eventual formation of the Empire of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and ultimately the world government required by natural law.’

Integralism is nuts, in other words.

this is a win for the nerds in the Vatican, Rome’s strength was in the cosmopolitan nature of its culture I.e universalist that is the appeal of “mother church” that she accepts all.

it sure beats that nasty Christian identity strain that you and others here either are or sympathetic to that movement of terrorists

society might collapse and when Trump and his his evangelical backers go full Turner diaries millions of American Catholics especially in the south west are going to seek protection

They are going to do this If Trump carries out his deportation plan of course the church will offer sanctuary

these Catholics who back Trump are crazy because those American Evangelicals run the show as far as the federal government and those people are stupid and crazy, what a stupid alliance to side with Trump and Trumpvelicals.

then again the pope in the 30s and 40s was a sympathizer but plenty of clergy and layman also rescued and harbored victims and survivors of the shoah

but it looks like you owned the libs karly Trump is going to become proclaimed dictator for life soon like I’ve been saying since 2017

There are common misconception that returning to the vaunted U.S. CONstitution will somehow save America. It won't. It was a CON from the outset.

Similarly, what is commonly referred to as "natural law" or any of the "freeman on the land" strategies that are talked about among those waking up to the nightmare that has long been referred to as "the American dream", will not save America either. "Natural law" was the first departure from our Creator's Perfect Law of Liberty, and everything has gone downhill ever since. After the unlawful addition of millions of pieces of man-made legislation (Deut. 4:2), we now have a lawless society, and wonder why criminals now receive preferential treatment from the criminal king-pins that fill the house and the senate, along with every courtroom.

The ONLY Solution to ALL of America's issues is to return to God's Law. Absolutely nothing else will work. God knows we've tried everything else -- including corporate fictional religions and corporate fictional governments (church and state - two heads of the same beast system) -- to our own detriment.

God gave us all of the necessary tools to create a perfect society within His Perfect Law of Liberty, found in the first five books of the Bible, namely Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Collectively, those books are referred to as the Torah in Hebrew which, in English, means The Law. While The Law contains what is commonly referred to as the 10 Commandments (Exod. 20:3-17, Deut. 5:7-21), which are the basic, universal principles of The Law, the whole of The Moral, National Law is often referred to as "the Commandments" because they are God's COMMANDS to us, given to us to protect us from evil and to set and keep us free.

IF we kept The Law, as we were COMMANDED to do for our own benefit, and which we all promised to do, we would all be enjoying:

TRUE FREEDOM - under the perfect system of government, where there are no banksters or politicians and their made-up money and rules

TRUE JUSTICE - with the perfect system of justice, where there are no attorneys and black-robed judges administering and enforcing satanic policies, and where everyone is taught and knows The Law

TRUE PEACE - where war is a capital offense, and all war-mongers are lawfully executed

TRUE PROSPERITY - where the perfect economic system ensures there is no crime or poverty or usury (aka "interest" - the fraudulent mechanism that has been used by the banksters to steal and monopolize the world's resources we were given and are supposed to be sharing)

THE TRUE SAFETY AND SECURITY that only God can provide

The Law also contains the perfect agricultural system, with no chemicals, GMOs, fluoridated water and other poisons, along with the perfect healthy diet, which eliminates all life-ending sickness and disease and the intentional poisoning of the soil and destruction of the natural seed, crops, plant and animal life.

God sent all of His Prophets/Messengers with His Message of Truth (The Law), and finally His Son. And we've beaten, tortured and murdered them for telling us the truth, and then wonder why the world is in the mess it's in today.

Contrary to what most "Christians" have been wrongly taught by their religious leaders, Christ quite obviously did NOT come to destroy The Law, as He quite clearly stated.

Matthew 5:17-20
5:17 Think NOT that I am come to destroy The Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill [fully preach The Law (The Torah) and fulfill the prophecies about the first coming of the Messiah].
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from The Law, till ALL be fulfilled.
5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least COMMANDments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in The Kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in The Kingdom of heaven.
5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall EXCEED [the righteousness] of the lawyers (scribes) and politicians (pharisees), ye shall in no case enter into The Kingdom of heaven.

Similarly, contrary to what most "Muslims" have been wrongly taught by their religious leaders, the Koran/Quran COMMANDS us to read and accept The Law that God gave us in the Bible, sent to us as a blessing and for us to follow to thus LEARN how to be righteous, so that we might receive God's Mercy.

Sura 6:153-157
6:153. Verily, THIS is My way, leading straight: follow it: follow not (other) ways: they will scatter you away from His (Great) Way: thus doth He command YOU, that ye may be righteous.
6:154. Moreover, We gave Moses The Book (The Torah), COMPLETING (Our favour) to those who would do right, and explaining ALL things IN DETAIL,- and a GUIDE and a MERCY, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.
6:155. And this (Torah) is a Book which We have revealed as a BLESSING (Deuteronomy 28): so follow it and be righteous, that YE may receive mercy (Sura 32:23):
6:156. Lest YE should say: "The Book (The Torah) was sent down to two Peoples before us, and for our part, we remained unacquainted with all that they learned by careful study:"
6:157. Or lest YE should say: "If The Book (The Torah) had only been sent down to US, we should have FOLLOWED its guidance BETTER than they (Sura 32:23)." Now then hath come unto YOU a clear (Sign) from your Lord,- and a GUIDE and a MERCY: then who could do MORE WRONG than one who rejecteth "I AM"'s* Signs (and The Torah - Bible), and turneth away therefrom? In good time shall We requite those who turn away from Our Signs, with a dreadful penalty, for their turning away.

Sura 32:23. We did indeed aforetime give The Book (The Torah) to Moses: be then NOT IN DOUBT of its (The Torah) reaching (THEE): and We made it a Guide to the Children of Israel.

*There is ONE God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29; Sura 2:163) -- THE God (Allah) -- Whose Name in Hebrew is "YHWH" or, in English "I AM" (the Self-Existent ONE). He is the heavenly (spiritual) Father of those who choose to obey Him. God is NOT a human (John 4:24), nor the son of a human (Numbers 23:19), nor does God procreate (i.e. "beget") humans; He simply creates them (Sura 19:35) to place a spiritual-Being/Soul inside of them (Gen. 2:7; John 3:3-7; Sura 15:29). Anyone arguing against these facts is still spiritually asleep inside the human condition.

God's Law COMMANDS us NOT to murder. And contrary to what people have been led to believe, WE HAVE NO AUTHORITY NOR ANY RIGHT TO LEGALIZE MURDER (see: Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:8; 12:32). War is nothing more than legalized murder, used by a few extremely sick individuals to increase their profits and power over others.

Anyone who claims otherwise, i.e. anyone claiming that we no longer have to keep The Law, is still listening to, obeying and working for Lucifer/Satan/Iblis, knowingly or otherwise. And everyone who continues to listen to, obey and work for Satan will find themselves in grave danger during THIS war we are all now in (yes, WW3 has started) followed by The Fire on Judgment Day. There will be NO exceptions.

Learn about The Law. It cuts through all of the nonsense and brings the truth and justice in every matter to Light. TRUE Liberty and Justice for ALL.

How's Adrian Vermeule's call for the death of the nation-state any different from creepy Mario Draghi's? We know that TPTB want a world gov't....the question is how we get there...through political or religious means?

In response to the Joel Webbon videos above, who are the moneyed elites that are in favor of creating a Christian monarchy? Is it the same dark money sources shoring up the Con-Con movement?

For a good while now, i've suspected that whoever coined the term Christian Nationalism wanted to dupe anxious Americans (anxious about a waning empire) into embracing it and advancing the idea politically. We need to call this for what it is....integralism not nationalism. On one hand, you have Protestant Integralists and on the other Catholic Integralists who are atleast open about their intentions of a world government with the pope as a god-emperor. How do we know that the Protestant Integralists don't want a similar thing?.....a transformed American religio-political structure that spreads everywhere? Would the Christian monarch be content with CONUS as his territorial domain?

Ofcourse, i don't see any of this ever getting off the ground without the Vatican going Fatima 2.0 on us. Inotherwords, only a massive religious psyop would be strong enough to deceive a panicked people and deliver the end goal because, again, how many times have we heard that the arrival of the "aliens" will lead to the creation of a supranational entity? Probably why the Vatican recently announced it's guidelines for discerning apparitions/supernatural phenomena.

Lmao I’ve been saying for years that the real conspiracy was not the Illuminati and their neo crowleyian religion but actually just Evangelical Christians desperate to either force the end times or install a theocracy to prepare the world for the return of Christ

I feel some vindication in this just would have hoped to have been wrong

Knowing his time is short, Lucifer/Satan/Iblis will use every political and religious tool at his disposal to create as much division, hatred and chaos as possible.

Isaiah 3:12 [As for] My people, children [are] their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people, they which lead thee cause [thee] to err, and lead thee astray, TO THY DESTRUCTION.

Matthew 23:8-15
23:8 But be not ye called priest (etc.): for One is your Teacher, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
23:9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.
23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
23:13 But woe unto you, lawyers (scribes) and (Pharisees - Farsis - Persian converts to Judaism, who were the) politicians, hypocrites! for ye shut up The Kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in [yourselves], neither allow ye them that are entering to go in (see Enoch 93:4-104:6).
23:14 Woe unto you, lawyers and politicians, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
23:15 Woe unto you, lawyers and politicians, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one convert, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell-fire than yourselves.

The religious and political leaders (church and state) have been repeatedly CONDEMNED throughout Scripture, by all of God's Prophets and from Christ Himself.

Why?

They have created legalese and Orwellian double-speak to institute their own made-up legislation, rules, CONstitutions, etc., all of which are UNLAWFUL according to The Law our Creator gave us to protect us from all of this evil we are presently experiencing, and to set and keep us free from this, the worst oppression of all time (see: Deut. 4:2; 12:8; 12:32).

Donald Trump cannot save anyone, nor can any other politician. Neither can "Christian Nationalism", nor "Christianity", nor the U.S. CONstitution, nor any political or religious ideology or leader of any kind.

The ONLY One that can save any of us is The One True God and Father of Christ, Who sent His Christ to lead us out of this mess and back to God and His Perfect Law of Liberty, found only in the first five books of the Bible, namely Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

God IS ALL-Powerful. Corporate fictional governments and their noble-sounding words are figments of our imaginations. Governments only have the power the people give them, and can only continue to exist as long as people feed that two-headed beast (church and state).

Corporate fictional religions and the corporate fictional governments of this world are working together to destroy everything and everyone. Their irrational policies will do exactly that if allowed to continue unchecked: the eradication of all life on Earth.

Anyone who isn't proactively working to return us to God's Law, with Christ ruling over this world as our King, is working for Lucifer/Satan/Iblis, regardless of whether they believe that or not. And the penalty for that continued treason against God and against His Anointed One is spending eternity in the Lake of Fire.

Learn The Way home or you will face The Fire, exactly as we've been warned for thousands of years.

Oklahoma state superintendent announces all schools must incorporate the Bible and the Ten Commandments in curriculums-CNN

In its petition from Wednesday, with a goal of 15,000 signatures, Faithful America, an organization of Christians supporting social justice causes while opposing "Christian nationalism," is demanding the conservative justice resign after he was heard in a secret recording agreeing that the United States should return "to a place of godliness" as well as for two flags that were previously flown outside the justice's home.

Politics in the Pews,” launching July 12 across podcast platforms (subscribe here), will investigate the history and influence of the Evangelical movement in American politics, where churches and Christian leaders stand — and more.
“We want to really focus our audience and Christians at large in America to start thinking about the significance of this election,” Giatti said, adding that he wants to “get Christians engaged and involved” in exploring why this election truly matters.

The “Politics in the Pews” host noted an undeniable reality: that this “unusual election” could get “even more unusual as we go forward,” which is why he’s hinging his investigative podcast on key ideas and discussions surrounding the campaign and election.
“[We want to take] a look at where we've been as a country and as the Church,” Giatti said. “The history of the religious right movement, for example, the Moral Majority, how Evangelicals have influenced politics over the last half-century.”

“The country is undergoing a lot of changes right now,” he said. “And I think we all feel it, we all sense it, and it will continue to do so regardless of the outcome of the election.”

If there is a specter haunting the imaginations of Christians in the public square today, perhaps it is the specter of the premodern integration of church and state. As the postwar liberal consensus erodes, a wider range of approaches to Christian engagement in political and social life becomes imaginable. New York Times columnist Ross Douthat has observed that some young Christians, disillusioned with liberal politics, are drawn to “a revived Catholic integralism.” For such young integralists, Before Church and State, a book by Andrew Willard Jones, has been the hot beach read of the summer, and—unusually for an academic monograph—a rich source of memes on Twitter. (Millennials will be millennials.) For those drawn toward integralism, Jones’s scholarship is positively exciting.

Thus, Jones’s implicit answer to pacifist objections to the use of temporal power for spiritual ends is that they contain an unwarranted supersessionism. As long as we are in this mortal life, there will be a place for the use of coercive measures, as pedagogical aids to fallen human beings, helping them to rectify their passions and to prepare themselves to enter into a deeper peace.

....Even a short time ago—with the ascendancy of the “religious right” in the Reagan and Bush years—it was plausible to argue that the separation of church and state was good for religion. The accelerating pace of secularization manifested, for instance, in the legalization of homosexual marriage makes that position much less plausible today. Before Church and State offers an alternative vision, a vision that could be realized only by a profound and fundamental transformation of the whole of our society. I am convinced that in working toward such a transformation, we have nothing to lose.

Thank-you for posting this.

As the Lauren Ventrella stated, the 10 Commandments are NOT religious; at least not in the way that word is used today.

Anyone who argues otherwise is voicing their support for murder, adultery, theft, lying, greed and envy, and/or that they believe those crimes are only "religious issues".

Of course CNN has a vested interest in fighting against the posting of the 10 Commandments in the classroom, as it would teach children that they shouldn't lie or steal. And if enough children learned that lesson, then government propaganda machines like CNN would quickly find themselves out of business.
