Hurricanes are by their very nature unpredictable. The slightest change in temperature can change the strength of the storm drastically. Like I'm not saying all the forecasts are wrong. But part of me feels like people are signing the death warrant prematurely.

I think we should be realistic about why these storms are such a big problem. It's because we built our infrastructure with speed and profits in mind. Most people are fortunate not to understand how bad we have designed our cities. So I think this is all our own fault, like we should be better at these situations. There have always been massive hurricanes. They have been hitting the same spots since people first settled there!

The very far outer bands seem to be starting. Everything outside is as secure as it's getting.
Where are you Lurker? Keep us posted as you're able. You too Zone and anyone else down there. Watching some live CNN and Fox on the youtube - already caught a clear use of green screen (the lady reporter who was supposedly *live* from some county had NO legs below her knees!) And I'm so doubting that Cooper and Cuomo are really there. Pretty lame.

To bring some of you a wry smile - why foreigners think Americans are crazy.

I cut-and-pasted this from the Live update page. https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2017/sep/09/hurricane-irma-florida-evacuate-landfall-cuba-live-latest

Some very practical advice from a Florida sheriff.

To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won't make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effectshttps://t.co/CV4Y9OJknv

Yet another reason to STAY INSIDE until the terrible hurricane has passed.

Fortunately, I'm not on the coast or low-lying area, but I will feel this one. Some of the trees around the house worry me though. I'll update as possible. Could start feeling TS force winds as early as Sunday.
All the best. I sort-of-went through category 5 cyclone Debbie in March this year. It hit north of us in the town of Yeppoon and was only category 3 slightly inland of us when it passed. All my area had to deal with was many broken tree branches.
Keep safe.

They are saying 90% of Barbuda island was destroyed by Irma.

Then Jose is coming next along the same path, then there is another one after that. This would be four to hit the coast in a row. It does start to feel like we are being attacked and all I keep thinking about is how I used to watch videos about HAARP and wonder what they would end up using it for. I would wonder when there would be evidence of it.

It does feel like we have been attacked and there isn't a whole lot we can do. Very sad.

Yeah I kind of think it's all Trump's fault. Like Obama kicked this hurricane program into high gear, and Trump was like nahhh.

But than I wonder, why would he hit his own properties in Florida? I suppose there are advantages to that, even for him.

Well, the path is going away from where I am, so nothing but cooler weather at the moment but that is changing as the week comes in. I see the storm being massively sensationalized in the media which is the American media way. I doubt I well see much more than wind my way if that, so no major waves. Some of the stuff we are seeing is quite fake and staged. What we are seeing as well is the lack of reality some folks are in with their comments. Meanwhile, the rational few look at it as business as usual to the attack on our senses. There seems to be a message being delivered but it is hard to decipher. I think it is no sooner than you can wrap your mind around one storm another comes along. It may well trigger economic issues and gas prices have risen steadily as well. Be it nature, God or engineering, the storms have peoples attention.

That would be a relief - I take it you are to the east then? What is fake and staged? You mean the reporters *on the scene * or something more? Do you mean comments here in the forum or out on the WWW?

I am quite a bit north from the eye. As for the comments, I meant the media and how they are acting like America is dumb. I suppose if you talk to some in a dumbed down fashion it becomes reality to some. Honestly, most of the people who are hooked on certain aspects of television and news are in a bit of a comfortably numb state of mind. They are inside the box.

Something is not quite right...my spidey senses are tingling.

AMTV has consistently been skeptical of the hype surrounding this hurricane. Greene asks some good questions about what is happening in these empty cities. Also, love the provocative video title:
