Thinking about leaving Christianity

You do realize that the New Covenant is actually in perfect harmony with the Old Covenant don't you please? Christ plainly stated He did NOT come to destroy The Law, which will NEVER go away, and that anyone who taught differently was the lowest of the low in God's Eyes (Matt. 5:17-20).

God's Law contains the perfect system of governance, the perfect system of justice, the perfect agricultural system, the perfect economic system and the perfect healthy diet. Why wouldn't any rationally-minded individual want the perfect, Utopian Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth for everyone?

The only Scripture that Jesus, the disciples, Paul and the early followers had to share with others was the Old Covenant.
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this.

If under the new covenant we are supposed to keep the diatary laws, what about Peter's vision in Acts 10?

9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
And what about the decision of the council of Jerusalem in Acts 15? Wouldnt this show the only parts of the Law applying to gentiles (the uncircumcised) would be abstaining from idolatry, fornication, things strangled, and blood?
1And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
...
10Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
...
19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

where sexual depravity of every kind is heralded as a "freedom" that everyone should enjoy at everyone else's expense, including the children.
The new testament most definitely comdemns this as well. While people love to quote Leviticus on this topic, a reading of Romans 1, and other verses, clearly show this is unacceptable to God.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

You cant claim to be a Christian yet think that the Bible is "flawed, sexist and down bad wrong"

You cant claim to believe in God yet reject the Word of God which is the Bible.

Well, one doesn't have to leave when one doesn't belong to the group in the first place. Perhaps you haven't been truly called by Him yet.

I pray to God that you come to repentance so that He may give you discernment and the true understanding of His Words.
Lool. This reminds me of being in a fan base. "You can't claim to be a fan of [this celebrity] if you have doubts of them.

I don't know. The bible could be flawed like the Creation myth. I don't believe it. Look at science. The earth was formed for millions and millions of years.

Sometimes skepticism is a form of discernment.

I would advise that firstly, you pray to Him. Definitely let Him know how you are feeling and that you are struggling with these thoughts.
Part of the mystery is WHY all the bad things happen. I understand how challenging of a concept that can be. Many times I've begged him "Why?" whether quiet yet distraught or screaming/crying my heart out at the circumstance.
As a Christian, I too have been having issues understanding why women seem to be "lesser", when we are clearly intelligent and important. There have been many instances, though, where women who sought God with their whole hearts have been rewarded graciously. I have found that it does take a lot of practice to be a wholesome woman, as well. Have you ever heard of the "Proverbs 31 woman"? This is a good and righteous wife (or woman in general), as described by King Solomon. Truly, even Biblically, women have a lot of value. Look at both Marys (Jesus' mother and Magdalene), Hannah, Ruth, Martha, and David's wives, one of which was a prophetess! There are many others as well who were commended for doing wonderful things. God did make women to be the helpers of men, but they are no less valuable. Without Eve, Adam wouldn't have been able to do much of anything.
Men are also held to their own standards, such as being courageous, patient, righteous, loving, and the support beams for society.
Both genders should be wise, discerning and full of love! There is no doubt that men and women have many differences, no matter how you look at it (religiously or scientifically), and this is okay, because they are two, one of each half and both have qualities that are needed in this world and in a family unit!
There are many accounts of things that happened that seemed very bad, but remember why BAD things exist. God wanted us to live perfectly in a beautiful garden He made for us, but *someone* had just been thrown out of Heaven and decided to break the things God made for us, with what little power he was given. It's interesting because, literally, Satan can't make us do anything, BUT he can do basically everything to convince you to sin. He will distort the truth, make it look good/right/fun/like the best option, and tell you it won't have any of the drastic consequences that it does!
If you would like to elaborate on anything, please do!
Thank you for this post. Maybe the bible isn't entirely sexist. The thing that gets me good is how we are being taught that "Oh, women submit to your man, do what he tells you, because he is the dominate sex, and you are the 'weaker vessel', wow, because men are so dominant, guess what woman can do?? We can pop out babies from our genitalia! What a miracle! Oh, feminism? It's a demonic movement made by homosexual misandrists to take down men!! *Demeans the importance of feminism*."
*also some parts of bible use women as an example of giving birth, nothing more.

Literally. o_O:(

I think the story of Esther where the Queen rejected the King's wishes to display her beauty is empowering, then the long comes the rule that because she "disobeyed" women should submit to their man. And from that point of view, readers can see that's unfair. Also an example of how men can abuse their dominance.

I've heard there are some pretty nasty consequences for leaving the club.

Eternal damnation, pits of fire, gnashing of teeth.

I'd probably stay where you are, be safe.
Is this a joke? If so, heh!

But my problem is I've been a Christian, like forever.

It's not the stuff that I question the bible like what I have mentioned in my original post. Ya know, whether God supports gender equality and that of he truly loves us. It's like certain everyday activity for example, listening to music, supporting your favourite celebrities, wanting to do cosmetic surgery.

Say the listening to music - I love Michael Jackson, however, whenever I listen to my MJ mashups mixed with other musicians, I feel guilty and afraid that something bad could happen, and that I could be sent to hell.

Though, I'm been told "It's the Lord telling me". I don't think so. I think it's just religious trauma and fear.

I don't believe a loving God should hold people accountable for what they love to hear in their ears or watch as long as they are not poorly influenced by it and corrupted. I remember knowing friends who are a devout Christian like me listen to it, but I'd fear they could end up in hell if they don't stop.

It's difficult because I was a fan of Billie Eilish, (I wasn't really a fan "fan", but I did listen to her music), when I heard "Bury A Friend" I stopped. Her fame was deserved but it's difficult to ignore what these evil people do behind closed doors for fame. (Rituals, sacrifices etc etcc... Hollywood is weird man).

I had this discussion with my Christian mother. She said - People who idolise these celebrities who allegedly sold out with perish there. But my reasoning is, separate the art from the artist. You can enjoy their work as long as you do not condone their behaviour since art and your actions do not correlate however, I see where she is coming from because you're kinda supporting them through their music. It's like you don't care as long as you love the person and their music. You listening to their work is benefiting them and that is a way of support.

Ehh, this thing is difficult to wrap your head around. Let's say I like Rihanna's music but I don't deny that she sold out does that mean I support her for selling out? Does that mean I support her for all things satanic? Absolutely not.

My mother is not wrong though but I think it's ludicrous holding people back for enjoying the craft. The craft is not the one being corrupted. It's the person. I just want to enjoy my MJ mashups because I love the creativity and effort I put into those mashups. I enjoy how lovely sounding the music is, not enjoy the person's alleged actions. After all, you shouldn't condemn a person for their evil, love them as well as accept their craft as something you like, (AS LONG AS YER NOT CORRUPTED!)

Though sometimes liking these people can make you look bad and I understand, but like I said, this separate the art from the artist depending how you see it can be problematic. This is a really difficult subject.

But I'm pretty sure when you're a Christian, you are expected to listen to these gospel music. I'm sorry. I'm not a fan, I don't like gospel music and I prefer Dark Pop. It's wayyyy better.

Before you go, "No wonder why she wants to step away from Christianity" it's like edgy, alternative "emo" pop. It's like dark and surrealist music. Kinda like horror movies, sorta. You know the cool, edgy sorta atmosphere. Sorry I don't know to explain it. I just love it, it's so cool. I used to listen Melanie Martinez aloooot, then I enjoyed Bella Poarch's music, and I love Sub Urban's creativity. AURORA has Dark Pop in her blood :)

For supporting favourite celebrities - it's like my fear of listening to secular music. I don't idolise anyone at all. I just admire and hype them I guess. As long as you worship God that's fine. I don't think anyone should be accountable for that.

My issue is there's times where I go near something hot and I go, "Imagine the heat in Hell, I feel like I could go there" and it's something that has been clinging to me. Being a Christian is scary and it feels like a strict parent controlling every action observing that what you fo has to be right or you'll go to hell. I mean it's like restriction to your freedom.

"Freedom in Christ", there's no freedom in religion. I feel bad for the followers. :(

She could be more specific. When I look at the arguments of people like her, they usually always had problems with gender roles and restraint. And it makes me think of that ancient question, "Are women really human?" or are they simply animalistic robots embracing the zeitgeist and paradigm of the age? . Because we live in a society that is the exact opposite of the teachings of the Bible and we were brought up with the opposite presuppositions, people experience cognitive dissonance when they look at certain verses. While men have the will to break these presuppositions, it is more difficult for women, perhaps because they are less intelligent or because they are created to be sexual objects.

The internet is full of places where you can have these discussions, but reading such nonsense even in a forum where it's clear how elites code society on issues such as "progress", "women's rights" and you should be a little aware of it reveals what kind of clown world we live in.

You can check out her other posts, she definitely has some issues. She can go to the crappy redditor forums she wants and argue there all day but no even here I have to read it
Wtf are you saying? You sound like r/religiousfruitcake, and when I make this account I'll mcf*cking expose your misogynistic ass.

Question if they are "sexual objects" meanwhile these f*cking men viewed women as sexual objects to breed, only for breeding purposes, to serve them (bc of shitty religion) as their masters and not the equal husband, wife relationship religion claims to be. There's no equality, just underestimation.

"Perhaps they were created to be sexual objects" can suck my 12 inch nonexistent because they weren't. Men. Were. And. Are still. F*cking. conditioned. To. Look. At. Women. As. Sexual. Objects. To. satisfy. Their. sexual. Pleasures. And for these mfs to see women as sex slaves and these sex dolls to do sexual stuff to. That's why world crimes that involve r*pe, molestation, p***philia are caused by men. Domestic abuse is justified by shitty religion because the wife didn't submit to her husband and that the husband is "asserting his dominance".

Wake up, this is reality. And oh, remove that Joker profile picture. You're not woke or some shit.

If you mean these faux feminists who objectify women as something "empowering" then I'm against that, but if she wears sexy clothing or he'll expressed her sexuality, I have no problem with that. Even men express their sexuality and there's no problem, but when they do it, everyone overlooks, but a woman does it, "she's a whore".

The actual f*ck.

Ps. I browse through reddit, did have reddit and still do. Kiss my backside. :)

God did not respond to Eve as if she was an inferior to Adam; in fact, he condemned her based on her sophisticated manipulation of Adam.

Perhaps I didn’t clearly express what I meant about the relationship between the sexes in The Bible: God directs us to do certain things, the message is spoken to us each — we are not meant to just share what we feel The Holy Spirit has brought to our souls, we are meant to live by example.

Every time an individual in The Bible appears to behaving badly by today’s standards, you’ll find God’s truth is consistent, while man is the one that’s failing to follow his laws.

Esther’s husband wasn’t being charitable to his wife and his wife responded. Harems are recorded in The Bible but God explicitly states in it, as well “I give you but one wife”.Harems are a manifestation of man’s sin, tendency towards greed and lust.

God approaches only sinners because sinners were, are all of humanity. Human societies progressed in evil because of sin. God did not give Adam a harem in Eden.

Idk the New Testament where Paul gives advice to women, "submit to your husband" is misogynistic. We aren't sex slaves to men, although I always interpreted this as the female version of chivalry, but to men, I remember times where I was taught, "If you don't submit to your man, he'll leave you."

WTH???!!

I rather have that jerk leave me, than for me to do what he says. Religion was the Devil's greatest work.
Women are meant to submit to a man who has submitted to the Father.

Women are meant to submit to a man who has submitted to the Creator— not to his boss or society.

“ Do what thou wilt?” Is an option, but this is Satanism— the world system with no Most High.

The word works as is.

I believe many misunderstand this; The Bible must be interpreted by an internal primer.

Husband and wife are meant to be a unit. They cleave as one flesh. There can not be a heirarchy if two become one.

God does not want the temple internally divided. Both are to understand their forms in relation to serving God’s word.

Otherwise, the angel would not have come to Mary and requested her will be aligned with God’s plan to bring Jesus into the world, the angel would have gone to her father or fiance to ask permission.

Where God is disobeyed in The Bible, it shows men abusing the women they have power over (harems) and women abusing the men they have power over (Eve). Not everything that happens or is shown to be the nature of life to the sinful human beings in The Bible, pleases God.

If he thought they were living perfectly by his law, he wouldn’t have sent Jesus.

Also, the source of The Word is perfect but it was, is intentionally brought to humanity by imperfect human messengers, some interacting with angel messengers that are not equal to God and we must assume there is a reason for this: It is the only way we can understand how to find our way back “home” with a map we can comprehend.

Remember, we wanted to do this our way and defied God: Just because Satan deceived Adam and Eve by claiming in eating from The Tree, we would become God’s equal in understanding existence, didn’t make it true.

He knows we can’t find our way on our own and that we can’t internally know all that he knows, so he instructed fellow sinners to document directions that we can understand in our decaying mortal state.

I still believe in God. I have been questioning and questioning. Thinking about whether God loves humans, support gender equality and whether the Bible really is a holy, just, right and moral book. But it seemingly appears to be flawed, sexist and down bad wrong.

I still believe in the existence of God and the supernatural though.

What should I do?
Check out Robert Morris specifically his series on “More Than Words” it gives great explanation to the old and New Testament. The Bible is a very symbolic book, you could spend a lifetime trying to understand God’s word, and always pray for God’s assistance in discerning his word. Check out 1 Cor 2:14 and 1:18. God Bless and good luck on your journey. The fact that you can see that the world is controlled by evil forces is a great start (Ephesians 6:12).

Well it is on my behalf but I'm fully aware that some people do actually believe it, but hey! that's the bible for you I suppose, got people thinking more about their next life than this one.

Maybe you could answer me a question?

If God wanted everybody to read his book, understand it and follow it's message then why didn't he make the book really REALLY easy to understand?

Surely the interactions you see here on a daily basis where one religious person is trying to school another religious person on the REAL meaning of the Bible must teach you something?

I don't believe a loving God should hold people accountable for what they love to hear in their ears or watch as long as they are not poorly influenced by it and corrupted
I've got a bit of an issue with this "loving God" thing.

What type of loving God prohibits a person from thinking a certain way? Why should a person who doesn't believe in God be sentenced to a life of eternity amongst gnashing teeth an fires pits but a person who does believe in God and reads his Bible gets a ticket to heaven?

So the child molester who goes to church goes to heaven and the atheist nurse who cared for people all her life goes to hell?.....c'mon.

When you look at the daily exchanges here on this forum where one religious person is trying to educate another religious person on the REAL meaning of the bible it appears to me that modern day religions have one objective....to divide people.

I'm probably not the best person to be asking questions about God to be honest. He only exists in people's imaginations as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry I couldn't engage you in a more productive debate on the matter.

This is something I struggle with as well. Also, the morality of free will. If we go by orthodox Christian views, then God has predestined every living being on this earth. He knows the course of their lives and none of us chose to be here. So why create us at all with the potential to cause great harm to our fellow man? Why claim we have a choice when our options are between hell (in whatever capacity it exists) and an eternity worshipping a god who's been absent for most of human history?

Listen.

Luke 13 1At that time some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2To this He replied, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered this fate? 3No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

What does it mean to repent ?

Ohhhh God here we go!

You've just posted a bible passage to me. Do you not read very well or what?

I don't give a monkeys what Luke supposedly said and let me tell you why. As far as your paralysed mind is concerned THAT little pearl of wisdom could have been written by some guy called Bob.

The Truth of the matter is, you don't know who wrote that, so please, save it for all the forums believers yeah? (Of which there are many)

You can't use scripture to bolster a point against someone who doesn't follow your belief system lol.

lol, that is religion. they make it difficult for you to follow because it guilt trips you and if you don't "follow" it's traditional rules you'll go to hell.

I agree. I think, well not think, but it's worse than what people think about secular beliefs.
