I know this wasn't directed at me, but I can't help myself. I can't stand gyms for these reasons alone. I can't stand the sense that there is an unspoken agreement to compete in this unrecognized beauty contest. I prefer to watch a TV show and use my elliptical in the privacy of my own home where I won't be judged by the clothes I choose to wear.
i agree. i think the women damien spoke of are at at the gym to exercise and also to be eye candy for the men. not necessarily in that order.

I wonder where all this new find sensitivity originated from. Everyone is so PC its cringe worthy to the extreme.
From Cultural Marxist SJW or in other words the "left". The right have problems as well but right now in present day society the left has completely gone off the rails and make conservatives look like the sane ones. Back in the day it used to be the conservatives who were looked upon as crazy. I identify as neither by the way.

Though I have a question for you Fu. What's your opinion of women in public gyms wearing only sports bras and teeny shorts? I was reading this feminist blog and the woman thought it was acceptable because some make athletes compete in speedos and shirtless.
I will tell you straight up why women workout in sport bras and thongs. I know because I've trained many of them. One word, attention. They love the attention they get from the women and the men around them. All the other excuses they try to give you is absolute rubbish. You're just as comfortable in a light pair of track pants and a tshirt as you are in whatever they're wearing. In fact you want to sweat more. It's good for you so wearing track pants is highly beneficial and comfortable. I wear a sweater when I workout.

It's neither here nor there in a gym setting imo. I always worry about hygiene in these public areas and there's no real excuse for the women to dress this way, especially for comfort, when they could wear compression shorts/pants/capris for ultimate mobility. I wear a tank and either compression pants or shorts or basketball shorts so I don't see how much more mobility a woman is going to get from wearing shorter-than-volleyball-shorts.
It's all about the attention, mate. This is precisely why I stopped working out in these commercial gyms. It's been 3 or so years since I have been working out with my brother over at the powerlifting gym he works out at. Just a bunch of dudes in proper clothing lifting a bunch of weight. Lots of chalk but I can work around that lol.

It tends to at my local gym get downright ridiculous. I don't know if these women want attention or seriously think this is the most comfortable outfit for some sets of 60lb back squats yet I squat 380lbs on a bad day in cargo shorts and running shoes just fine. I don't like it when men go all shirtless sweating over the equipment and don't wipe when they are done and yet I simultaneously get uncomfortable when women are practically lifting in bikinis.
The bold part is precisely why people catch some nasty stuff like ringworm.

The gym is a place of seriousness imo and I don't see this at my gym. These women aren't world class lifters let alone average but they throw me off personally like guys that take their shirts off and congregate in front of the mirrors to take selfies.
Gyms are a joke. Most people in there are one hit wonders. This is how most gyms in North America make all their money. They sign up a bunch of people who only end up coming for about a month and then they will never see them again even though they're paying for the whole year because they signed a contract.

Really?:eek: My kids had gotten ringworm from around their feet/ankles from playing in the dirt, but a little Blue Star ointment took care of that. Yeah, gym- just a gross place to go.
Yes, if you're infected with ringworm and then when you're on a machine and sweating all over it if the person after you doesn't wipe properly he/she is going to get it. It's also very common in wrestling, Judo, and BJJ. People don't wash their gi and then come to training the next day and there infected and give it to others. If I see that shit and they come to training I kick them right out.

I hate that they may actually want attention though. The only thing that impresses me in the gym are big lifts lol. The booty is irrelevant and abs on someone is who is naturally lean is as impressive as a 200lb man squatting 150 lol.

@rainerann
The gym is so convenient with it being a 30sec walk from my job but the women make it unbearable. There is this cute woman that just had a baby some months ago that wears running short running shorts and an appropriate tank top but she doesn't want attention. She's doing sprints and jogging while pushing the stroller lol.

I like the gym atmosphere because I don't feel so alone in my masochistic pursuit of strength and aesthetics but the women don't give off that vibe.

Thanks I'll try those, would they withstand wintry climates? I've tried growing coriander but it withers quite fast

Most herbs are perennial, though basil and cilantro (coriander) are more annual. I wouldn't worry about frost for the perennial herbs. Even if they get hit, the root ball is probably intact and rejuvenate in the spring.
