I don't doubt his sincerity, but he still seems caught up in a false spirituality. He still speaks with his spirit guides and feels God is only unconditional love while judgement has no place. Does he acknowledge sin and the need for repentance? Are his expectations that because of love we can continue in sin with no consequence and no judgement from God? Does he know we are judged and condemned without God given - not man chosen - faith in Jesus Christ? I did not hear that in his testimony.

He says he doesn't want to focus on freeing people from satanism, but focus on healing and loving others. Without the full gospel message of sin, repentance, forgiveness, grace, and salvation through Christ's full atonement on the cross, there can be no true healing. The gospel of 'love and only love' is a man-made false gospel.

I know he is new, and therefore I truly hope and pray Jesus Christ will open his eyes and direct his path to the full Biblical truth. I wish him nothing but the best and pray for his future. May the God of the Bible bless this man's journey.
Maybe he just trying to make some money on YouTube is my guess.

I could be wrong, but I don't get that feeling at this time. His testimony to me indicates he is excited about his new path. The problem is that the new path looks to be based on human emotional 'truth' rather than Biblical truth and gospel. Time will tell, and it goes back to what @Karlysymon said in post #4. I would add:

Acts 17:10 As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

I think this is not a real thing. He could be doing this to infiltrate to get intel maybe. I’m not buying it. He’s probably doing this because he’s fearful of the forthcoming attacks they are going to get.
Attacks? I don't think anybody in South Africa cared enough about this man and his satanism lol. I saw the article and went on with my life, heck it wasn't even broadcasted on tv.

... as I was trying to drink my coffee this morning-- but I appreciate the perspective. :)

But idk... with the internets, even satanic evangelists can reach the world. The impact is probably greater in, as Bob Dylan puts it, the (world) we can't see.

At this time, based on the picture he's hung on the wall-- and no mention of Jesus on his path-- he's had an encounter with one of the "ascended masters." Kind of a lateral move. :/

Ever wonder from what low point, exactly, these "masters" have ascended? o_O

Anyway... it sounds like he received the right message. The rest is between him and God.

These are dangerous times for the Church and things like this, while encouraging, shouldn't be taken at face value. There is a reason the 12 disciples initially maintained skepticism of Saul after his "Road to Damascus" experience (Acts 9:26)

But if it is truly Christ that appeared to this now ex-satanist, then there's some proving to do.
But what would provide for proof to you? If he video'd it? It's his experience. We either believe that the experience was genuine, or that he's lying somehow, or delusional. There's no way to 'prove' it at all.

If it were broadcast on TV, would it become more significant?
Yes, tv is something watched by most south Africans, more then youtube. Quite literally people in shacks will have a gorgeous flat screen tv inside yet carry Nokia type phones(old ones with only the purpose of texting or calling).

It's a much faster news outlet here then things like YouTube. It reaches people faster, moreso the older generation since they are more then youngsters here last I checked.

It's simple: he felt the unconditional love that he never felt from his parents.

Unconditional love is very hard to find this days... he's lucky.

I'm agree about the christian church is full of bull.sht because the humans on the top are satanic...
That's a big problem... but well... this is the dance of light and darkness .. what to do? just watch the show.

The proof is in a person's testimony and actions. We don't have to take anyone's word for it and blindly believe, period. In fact, we shouldn't. See post #17 and #22 for the reasons I find his testimony problematic at this time.

Christians are commanded to test the spirits and make sure the message or testimony a person brings supports the Bible at all times - judge and discern. Paul himself was questioned and tested by the Bereans. He didn't complain, call them faithless or blast them with the ancient version of "How dare you question God's annointed!". Instead he called the Bereans noble for questioning and remaining faithful to scripture.

Proof is in the way he acts post-event then?

I'm sure, if we want we can find said "proof" for or against what he claims citing our own arbitrary criteria. I'm not sure I would call that proof though. More like it being just our right to believe one way or another, based on whatever way we perceive it. It's still subjective in other words.

How does something being on TV make it more true? I fail to make that connection. I mean, if I experience something but it doesn't make it on TV, doesn't make my experience less authentic to me.

This is a Christian issue, and for Christians the Bible is the authoritative basis for testing the spirits and discerning the true from the false. If you do not accept the Bible as the absolute truth, there's not much more I can say. We would be talking past each other.

This was the original quote I was asking about

"But if it is truly Christ that appeared to this now ex-satanist, then there's some proving to do."

How would he prove it?

My take (for what it’s worth) is that a real encounter with Jesus changes a person. The Lord will not lead this person into deception, but it is possible that he will slide right back into it if his faith is based on feelings rather than him choosing to put down roots in the Word. I think people like this need our prayers and support, but not acquiescence to their muddled ideas as some kind of fresh revelation.

Nobody expects much from a baby, and if this guy is a Christian, he is a baby one. I posted this thread to acknowledge the guy had left the Church of Satan and to “keep an eye” on what he might say or do next.

I don't know why this is even a prolonged discussion. My comment wasn't critiquing whether he found Jesus but much rather that his story wouldn't be attacked because nobody gave a poopy about him.

If it were broadcasted on TV(which is watched more here than outlets such as YouTube) he may have gotten more backlash and attacks which perhaps possibly could lead him to converting. However his conversion isn't significant because very few people even knew about him when he began the satanist church.

Again, the answer is testimony and actions, but you don't seem to want to hear that. I honestly don't know what you are looking for here.

This is the message the true Christ brings - and it will never change:

Matt 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

Mark 1:15 "The time has come," He said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

Luke 13:3 "But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. 18 Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because He has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

John 4:25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah [called Christ] is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am He.”

Only God can open hearts and minds to accept His word and bring someone into truth [this is not a decision we make], and I pray He will bring Riaan Swiegelaar into His truth.

You're wrong on part two, you just didn't explain that clearly and I'm just trying to clarify what you're saying so I don't put words in your mouth.

So what you're saying is in him moving forward his testimony (which he gave) and now his actions further to that will be proof to you that his experience was real? I think this is what you're saying.
