I’m trying it now. It’s interesting. I’m at 75/80 percent .
Make sure to get electrolytes thats the one thing that is stressed about low and no carb diets. Coffee with heavy cream and coconut or mct oil is a good breakfast alternative. If you dont enjoy allot of time in kitchen its fast and easy. I really only like to cook one meal a day and thats later at night. Spending all your time in the kitchen and meal prepping discouraged me cause it took forever so I would just drink coffee with heavy cream and mct/coconut oil and heavy cream. No carbs but high in fat.

Its not necessarily carnivore with the coffee and coconut oil but its zero carb and not really any kind of real transgression in the dietary sense. Carnivore is in essence zero carb and the only items with zero carbs are basically animal products. Some do bulletproof coffee with mct oil and ghee or butter but im not a fan of the buttery taste, but heavy cream is zero sugar and zero carbs and it has fat to keep yourself full.

Some people do the lion diet which is nothing but like red meat and real salt. Thats too extreme for me, but Jordan Peterson does it and he lost tons of weight and cured his autoimmune problems.

Thanks. I can’t afford to give up coffee completely right now. Taking my sugar down very low has brought up cravings at this point. It’s harder at night

I drink water with electrolytes and have added lots of vitamins. Long term, I will need to develop my cooking ability.

I never did give it up either, but as long as you're careful coffee is perfectly fine. I use half and half in mine with a sugar substitute. Caffeinated coffee and teas can affect blood sugar and subsequently make you crave sugar, so just beware of that and switch to decaf if necessary. Cheese and nuts really help counteract sugar cravings.

Thanks. I’m staying away from nuts right now. I am committed to 30 days lightweight carnivore and then I may go 100 percent or add a cheat day once a week. I’m not sure.
Sugar is in many products I use like toothpaste and I haven’t cut out conventional toothpaste yet.
Dairy is actually just as bad for me as sugar, so I am staying away from all dairy.
Overall it’s different.

What worked for me was hard cheese omelettes, eggs and bacon, chicken drumsticks, and pork shoulder steaks as a rotation. Pork shoulder steaks are infinitely better than pork chops. I baked all of my meat in the oven(even the bacon) so it made it super easy.

I found ground beef to be too bland and steak was just too expensive. If you can find bacon ends and bits its allot cheaper than regular bacon. I would bake them in a stainless steel pan until allot of the fat rendered then take it out of oven and drain some fat, put it on stove, throw in some grass fed butter, and put in some scrambled eggs with ms dash and I was good to go. You kind of feel gross with all that fat at first, but the results dont lie and allot of people are remedying all sorts of autoimmune and cardiovascular problems on carnivore. The thing is that if you are going to be eating like that you have to stay away from the carbs and items that spike blood sugar otherwise you lose the benefits of a zero carb diet.

Chicken Drumsticks and pork shoulder steaks you can bake so cooking is pretty minimal. I found dijon mustard went really well on the pork shoulder steaks, its a safe condiment as its 0 everything. That was probably my fav cut of meat on carnivore honestly. Cheap and full of flavor. Grass fed meats are great, but pricey - However if you cant afford them you are still getting so many benefits just by cutting out carbs and sugar and keeping your blood sugar to very low, benefits by cutting out processed foods, plants with anti nutrients, and things that inflame and irritate the gut. It sounds like a very bizarre diet at first, because it goes against everything we have heard most of our lives, but diets that dont raise blood sugar work very powerfully. My sister lost tons of weight snd she says she prefers it to keto. You said you are staying away from dairy but butter goes good with eggs imho and fat keeps you full and gives good energy so I wouldn't be too shy to add in some grass fed butter if you are struggling to stay full or satisfied. Hard cheeses as a dairy with omelettes work too cause allot of the lactose that causes people problems is not apparent in hard or block cheese.

If you are struggling for energy or not staying full you need to add some kind of fat.

I think I spoke too soon. I think I will take your advice and work in some nuts as a snack.
Édit: Or not. Pretty “carby”.

Maybe try roasted & salted pumpkin seeds or pecans. They are pretty low carb and the salt can prevent the 'keto flu' feeling. I have never experienced that drained feeling others talk about, and I really think it's because I'm a bit of a saltaholic. I never had to do any other electrolyte other than salt. Olives are also a huge help being both a healthy fat and salty. LOVE olives!!

Also... wine! I'm extremely sugar sensitive (hypoglycemic), but even when I'm going super strict, a glass of wine never threw me out of ketosis. Thank You, God!! It's the little things like that which really help.

Yes - great ideas. I happen to love poultry dark meat, and it's SO much more satisfying than white meat. Chicken thighs or duck are awesome to cook whether roasting or in a slow cooker. To prevent boredom, you have to expand protein categories beyond beef.

Thanks. I don’t usually eat red meat, but I may have to add it once a week.

I have never acctually had duck before but I will have to try it some time. You are right about ground beef tho. The first time I ever shopped for carnivore I basically filled my cart with grass fed ground beef at aldis. I knew right off the bat I couldnt stay consistent with ground beef on carnivore. Ground beef with keto is more lenient because you can make chili out of ground beef with some guacamole and add in some other things like hard cheese and tomatoes and onions and black olives, but on carnivore the drumsticks, bacon, and pork shoulder steaks and eggs were my best friends. Coffee with heavy cream, coconut oil, and some pyure sweetenerr(no affect on blood sugar) for breakfast was how I made it successful, because i couldn't eat or cook meat like that twice a day. It was more a zero carb diet than carnivore with some of the things I added like the coffee beverage, but I had to settle with something I could be consistent with. I did treat myself to a ribeye with shrimp and ghee at times, but that is allot of money.

My brother went on an all meat diet and while he did lose some weight he developed something called gout which caused him a lot of pain. So then he got a prescription for oxycodone and started taking those. I think keto is kind of a gimmicky diet and I notice it is always high priced. To me just eating meat or being a strict vegan are just two sides of an extremist coin. Moderation in all things I think is best. Avoiding GMO is important. I eat no sugar at all and avoid high sodium. Never liked coffee. I never eat eggs. While I guess diabetes is real it seems another way to program people by the medical establishment. I haven't been to a doctor in over twenty years and never trusted them before Covid and trust them even less now.

Thanks for this thread.
I remember hearing about this from Jordan Peterson and his family. But kind of forgot about it.
Went researching after reading this for the last day or two.
I'm starting today :)
I have a lot of weight to lose.

I hope it won't get to boring.
You have some good advice for some groundbeef recipes? Ground beef without tomato sauce seems a bit dull, but oh well. I'll take not being hungry all the time over more tasty food, if it really works. Guess I'll find out :D

Ground beef may be pretty hard to maintain on carnivore. Its incredibly bland. I tried to begin with it, but quickly went off, because it just got too boring. I suppose you could make a burger patty out of it. Mustard is no carb and pickles are almost no carb. Its a blur between keto and carnivore tho when considering those two items, because technically they arent animal products but still virtually no carbs.

My favorite cuts of meet were chicken drumsticks baked with butter as the coating and pork shoulder steaks(not chops). I baked those too. I incorporated eggs with bacon ends and pieces into the diet as well with ms dash and butter.

Grass fed butter and real salt are your friends, and ghee. Depending on how carnivore you want to get you could do what I did and consume coffee, heavy cream, and coconut oil as breakfast. Tons of fat and no carbs. Its very important to stay off carbs on this diet.

Jordan Peterson only ate steak and salt for his autoimmune problems if I remember right, which is known as the lion diet. Kudos to him, because as much as I love a ribeye steak I would not want to eat it every night.
