I don't read fan fiction, but one thing I'm curious about is how can you have a y/n scenario with a group that doesn't even speak your language. Like do these girlies imagine they're a Korean woman or what? Or are the members suddenly fluent in English lol. I just don't get how you could fantasize being with these guys when you wouldn't even be able to hold a conversation with them. It's funny to me.
I'm not into yn fiction. They can't speak my language and I wouldn't want to meet them. Without makeup, they're plain. I'd rather spend my time with a local who shares my interests. Plus I had a boyfriend then so I could have real sex rather than fantasize about kdrama like sex. I'd rather be with a real person.

So that's why all these Emily's of Denver are trying to learn Korean and spending hundreds of dollars in concert tix...they want to be a real life y/n and for their fave to pick them in the crowd ahaha. And bh heard their cry and came out with Learn Korean kits with the members voices in a pen creepily encouraging them to keep going.

And this is what an Emily, I mean Becky a proud armie of Michigan has to say...
Btw I found this tweet randomly but they're all the same aren't they? Same mushy sentiments with cult like undertones.
They're encouraging them to be consumers and that's positive? Oh Becky. I'd rather visit Japan, Thailand, Ethiopia, the UK or the national parks, but if it does it for them. I'm turned off by Korea because it's so xenophobic. Most people are prejudiced against others but they're kkk levels of hate. People justify it as culture but won't give someone in a rural area the same pass.

It's very naive for them to think a cold sociopath will love them. I think they want a bunny hybrid that is taken care of by his hyungs and also destroyed.
Omg xD you are so right that you just create some new tags for them and their crazy contents. It's not the good term. We can't even say "very naive" no. At this point, that's called stupidity.

I heard that SK is built on toothpicks, where buildings have collapsed on people because of shoddy quick construction. Garbage is just left outside with no public trash cans in sight. Old plumbing so you can't flush anything. Can you imagine how that place must smell. Horrible food and super expensive fruits and vegetables. No one can drive because everyone feels they have the right away..so accidents happen often. The country has serious prostitution, drinking, and smoking issues. And last but not least the majority of people are not friendly and extremely racist. Who wants to be stared, pointed at, and treated like sh!t every time they step outside their door all because they're a foreigner.

The country looks like a wonderland but it's hell for their own citizens. When poc go there it blows my mind. If they won't accept seas, they probably won't accept me. Men are starting to take advantage of naive Western fans. They connect to them online to get pron material for sites and for one night stands. Most men don't look like actors or idols, similar to how most Americans don't look like celebrities.

That's what I don't understand. They admire the Nazis but would've died too. There's always a scandal with Nazi uniforms, antisemitic and racist behavior but international fans think they don't know any better. Most people are average or plain, even idols. A lot of idols look scary with too much plastic surgery. Some of them look beautiful before and afterwards get botched by their companies. I used to think SK had the best plastic surgeons. They seem worse than here.

Hehe lots of what you said there is how I see big parts of America. I think it is easy to have a negative view of a country as a outsider. I grew up hearing stories about how dangerous US was and how there were literally places where you could die if you went to. I have also heard about all the racism you have, how much a persons color mean to you, that you can actually not se the person behind the skin. It is always color first and then the person, which to me is so fucked up. Color says nothing about a person. How we look says nothing about how we are.

And then you have all those destroyed empty cities and people on drugs. And you have no systems in place that takes care of it. If a person fuck up in your country he is left to suffer for himself. Every winter you have homeless people dying on the streets. In my country that sounds completely awful.

America is simply not much better.
I think you misunderstood my post. I never implied that the U.S. is better. I could write a dissertation about how sh!tty this country is believe me. I will say women arent second class citizens here though. Also, fyi the view point you're talking about concerning color in America is the white man's. This country is the most diverse and not everybody sees someone's race first here. But I digress, the topic I was replying to is about being a poc and visiting SK, which I sure as hell wouldn't. I was basically dispelling that SK is some kind of utopia. You'd be surprised due to b*s and too many kdramas how many foreigners believe this to be true.

I really don't think that they admire the Nazis. Japan was on Germanys side in World War II and we know the history between Korea and Japan was bloody. There is probably a reason behind that we do not know. Ignorance maybe or it is a NWO thing.

I just feel like americans has a tendency to be hard on other countrys when they themself have so many problems. It seems like they often don't try to understand other countries' culture and history. Koreas economy have not been good for a very long time because of all the shit the country has gone through. It is first now you actually see a positive economic growth. But it will take time for them to build their country up.

And then you get into color again. A lot of Asian countries are not very hospitable and that applies to everyone. Some of my friends traveled around Asia a few years ago (they were white) and did not feel they were being treated very well in a lot of places, especially in Japan. But I would not criticize Japan for that, because it is rooted in history and culture. The same goes for a lot of countries in the middle east and Africa.

And no country is a utopia. People who believe that are either very young or stupid.

Last but not least, my view point about color is not the white man's for fuck sake. Only a american would say something like that. Europe is also extremly diverse you know and not just because of colors but also because we have a lot of very different cultures gathered here and we do not have the problems about races that you have.

I will confess that we have problems about religions, but then again when did we not.
My family is Iranian so I know all about different cultures outside of the U.S. lol. And when I said white man's view on color I wasn't talking about you, but how you said "Americans view race" when not all of us are like that. A lot of Americans are very open minded and accepting. Everything I say you seem to misconstrue. Odd..

If I may share some thoughts on this matter...

I think racism can be found in most, if not all countries, in the world...

And I've observed this at least in the ones that I was able to visit so far, both on short & long term bases...

Probably, it's just part of our fallen nature as humans to "complain" about many things, particularly on appearances...and even body odour.. That's probably why we invented perfumes... Haha!

But on a closer analysis, the good in people still outweigh the bad...

Many folks in many countries are generally friendly...they greet strangers randomly...like it's a habit...lol.

I remember being "hugged" suddenly by a bunch of gorgeous African women, after a public presentation in Freiburg...I felt thrilled and lost my speech for a moment...Haha!

In SK, most people don't randomly & openly greet everyone, esp foreigners... But they are "stoically polite" I should say...

They got lots of coffeeshops & noraebang (videoke bars) there and really love to socialize...(with chicken & beer) which means getting drunk and wasted afterwards...just like how there are lots of pubs in London & how Brits love to drink (with fish & chips) and get wasted as well...it's all for fun! Lol.

Just like Hollywood, K'ent in SK does not really permeate the lives of the citizenry or the regular folks...most are busy working, studying, or scrolling their smartphones... :)

Yes this is very true. But I also think the problem with why some people feel like other countries are racist is because they do not understand their culture.

For example in my country people do not greet each other at all because it is a way to show respect for each other's privacy. This can make us seem very cold and unfriendly. If foreigners are not aware that this is a behavior we have towards each other, they may come to believe that we do not like foreigners at all when that is far from the case.

It is the same all over the world. All countries have some customs, traditions and habits that affect how we treat others and not all countries are equally hospitable and I actually think that is okay.

When I went to Spain with my friends to get drunk, we were never treated particularly nicely by the police. Haha they absolutely hated us and they could be prette brutal. But we knew and expected that before we went down there. We did not se it as racism. We knew that we where obnoxious. :p
Absolutely. Culture is it!

As much as possible, I think adhering to the saying, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" is a wise advice...

For example, I'm not really good at the simple act of "bowing" (in a cultural sense) but I need to do it properly, for instance, in Japan where "ojigi" means differently in different occasions... Same thing in SK...

Another example, when walking in the streets of Sukhumvit in Bangkok, try not to show a "shocking expression" when you hear lots of beautiful, alluring women, speak with very masculine voices... lol... They're so lovely, you'll be in danger of losing a lot of cash... Just admire from a distance... Haha!
